Everyone knows cig-alikes are stylish and just ......in cool, I have a couple "real setups" but I still use my blucigs while reading in bed and at the movie theater, they are awesome! No one has to know you have them, they taste great and consistent (better than alot of the juices ive tried), and they are soooo hassle free, it's just like a real cigarette that doesn't burn you if you spit it out on your chest while watching tv on the couch, and I swear I get a better nicotine rush sometimes. You know where the bashing come from? (and its silly, I know because I experienced it first hand) People become so proud and excited about their new setup, they think they've joined the club, they made the leap, spent the extra money, and they are never going back, pfffft lol. Ill admit when I first got a setup (aspire ets with a 1100 battery) I thought I was the sheeit, "wow, I'm such an enthusiast, on a totally different level than those njoy/blucig users", but didn't realize that the tech and work that goes into both is about the same. I love both personally, I really only use my big rigs when I'm at home, and to nerd out on the tech/unlimited flavor options side of it, but I don't think I'd ever get tired of the pleasurable, consistent, hassle-free ciga-like. But like I said, probably 99% of the population thinks cig-alikes are interesting/stylish or at least not goofy like putting an olympic baton in your mouth and squirting liquid in it while walking down the street haha.

We are lucky in Utah to have a great vaping community. I think maybe it's at least partly because we have to sort of band together to fight all the really terrible laws they keep trying to impose here. You get to know lots of people if you are advocating for vaping here. You kind of want to get to know new vapers so if nothing else you can let them now about impending legislation and hopefully convince them to get involved too.
The first couple of times I went into a local B&M I have to say I felt like an outsider too - well, I pretty much was one, so... there ya go. The shops here are all nice to me, rightly so because I'm a nice person who buys stuff from them. It is like any other retail industry. That 15 minutes you spend answering n00b questions and making them feel welcome, is money in the bank later on... any snooty attitude (which again, I haven't encountered here), is money in the bank later on... for someone else. Simples

I'm sorry chivalry is shriveling up and in the fetile position, but for the record I'm trying to keep it going. Damn sexism even in the vaping community.

I saw a new member asking for advice and giving his/her background vaping which entailed the use of Egos and cigalikes and asked not be be "judged" for that. Frankly I was aghast reading that and didn't get it. I posted that I use those and was surprised he/she felt they would be judged. Now I think I get it. I haven't seen much of it here and when I have I've just considered it immaturity but I guess it happens with everything depending on how insecure the person is.
Now, not to offend those who like these for sport... just the "pic worth a thousand words" thing.

What I've noticed being a Dutch living in Finland is that the vaping culture in Finland is much more aimed at variable and mech mods and rebuildable attys and whenever I visit Holland the local B&M's don't (or won't) stock anything past ego's and protanks. When I ask for AW batteries they look at me as if I just set fire to water and after showing what I need a few spares for I'm the snob.
It all depends on what you rolled in on, I'll see if I can include a picture in this post to show my setup.

We have t shirts we wear just for the tourist season which we refer to as terrorist season. The front of the t shirt says "Hi welcome to Alaska" the back says "Now leave".
I don't share that view, I love Alaska and want everyone else to love it too. I am always trying to convince people to come visit.

Well, I use an eroll and ecab mainly and ego t sometimes for longer lasting batteries. I like the simple 'old fashioned ' tank and ego c atomizer. I have tried evods, mini novas etc and really do not get on with them.
When I go out I like the eroll for its discreetness, and sometimes the ecab. The other day in a small pub in my small town was a guy with something more advanced, and he started talking to me. He has just opened a shop in the town, which I had visited a few weeks before, and quite frankly it was a seedy one room above a tatty set of offices. He proceeded to diss the eroll etc. I made the point to him that not everyone wants this as a hobby, I have plenty of hobbies and plenty of work related stuff to keep me busy, what I need is something to help me quit smoking, simple, easy to maintain. I said that as a business owner myself in a small town he needs to keep his market wider for the people that really do just want a way to pack in the cigarettes. Not sure if he took it on board, but ...

Although I am quite intrigued with the MVP I really still want something more cigalike even after several years (see my join date) of vaping.
So for me, it's about stopping smoking in the easiest way I can. Those setups work for me, but I fully understand the hobbyist approach.

Coming from where i do in England i wish there was a local B&M store where i didn't have to explain why i won't buy their juice because there isn't enough VG in it etc.

There are two local B&M's near my house..........One of them has one guy that appears to know what he is talking about and the rest of them have no idea what they are doing. I was in there the other day and a lady was buying an eGo starter kit but obviously had no idea about vaping and the store person didn't suggest a back-up battery or any battery/topper maintenance and I had to say something.
The other is full of modders and if you don't have a mod and blowing "competition clouds", they aren't really interested in talking to you. I am pretty sure they started with the mods because they don't know anything about anything less advanced..........plus, they tried to sell me a 5 pack of generic Kanger coils for $12

I agree - the current state of B&M stores is exactly what you just said, its a real shame as that is literally the gateway to our hobbie and lifestyle. Maybe something for another thread, sorry if i took this off topic.

B&M really need to be careful on how they act. It is easy to become a know it all and look down on people but those people will not last. Remember B&M places are in it for $$$ not for fun. meetup.com might have some better alternatives then that vape store.
I've only made purchases at two b&m shops, one in Rochester, NY, another in Madison, WI. Everyone was wonderful. No denigration, no attempt to sell gear where there was no interest, no ignorance. The Madison owner went through the steps of wrapping a dragon coil without being asked, questioned me unobtrusively to make sure I wouldn't go home and blow my face off. ECF is, of course, wonderful.

I see it somewhat in this new attitude that mechanical mods are only for sub ohm cloud chasers, otherwise they're supposedly too dangerous....
I see it in the B&M shops...but with the staff I believe that it's because they gotta peddle what they've chosen to stock...
One of my local ones...they quit selling basic atomizers (just cartos and meh tanks there)...if you were a vaper working there you were only allowed to use devices they sold..
Another, tried selling me a trustfire 18650 battery and proclaimed it to be the best battery on the market...
Funnily, one guy that used to hang out at the one and then started working there.....now works at the other....
Now we used to sit and chit chat about what we liked in setups....confessed to me while at the new store that he thought I was crazy and didn't understand my attraction to mechanicals, IMR batteries, and the LR 306 atty....2 years later and at a new shop guess what he's using now....
On here I try and answer the question that the OP is asking, ignoring my own prefference....too often I see people trying to inject their own prefference on someone else...if asked I'll share what my choices and the reasoning behind them...but when all is said and done it comes down to personal preference...
