experimentation. RDA too hot and chain vaping impossible.

I know i know this is a stupid thread. but hey. we all gotta start somewhere.

I setup my very first RDA build using what i believe to be nickel 26gague. OR 24. i bought it locally and the guy says it was nickel.
anyways i setup the coils using the jiggler and in the ohm meter its reading 0.19.

i decided to move on and put the indestructible on the evic-vt at 40W.
I pulsed it and it was glowing just fine from the inside out.
Put in the cotton ... wet the cotton with the juice which i selected to be menthol.

Started a test fire and it was giving out beautiful vape.

Here's where things get eerie.
I cannot for the life of me pull for more than 1 second. its just TOO strong to pull a vape.

forget about chain vaping. the darn thing gets so damn hot its impossible to even hold.

What are my mistakes so far?
i am learning all this by-myself with no help except for these forums and youtube videos
I plan on going to my 28gauge kanthal after this experiment but i dont have much so i didnt wanna waste it.

I'm no expert in nickel builds but I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to pulse them, it's just a build, wick, and vape type deal. Also you shouldn't be using nickel in anything but TC

5 bucks says the wire came from here. If I remember right, nickle and SS for TC and Kanthal for regular vaping.

it was easy to wrap as opposed to the 28g. cause its thicker. i think at the time he said it was 0.5xmm which probably makes it 24? however he was confident 100% it wasn't kenthal and kept insisting it was something perhaps nickel.

Glowing on Test is Bad - causes toxic chemical formation. Guessing you have not bothered to read up on Nickel/Titanium wire or what works in what modes and why?

Ifffffffffffffffffffff you wish to continue, and you shouldn't, put the atomizer on TC/Nickel and lock resistance at room Temp. Then set vape temp to 480 or so and give it a try.

I'd chuck the unknown Mystery wire and never try that again.

Use what you know - know what you use.

I'd also ditch the shop that doesn't know what kind of wire they're giving you. I'd take my chances buying online. At least then you can at least think you know what you have.

I have. I ordered 5 rolls of 100ft kenthal 28gauge so i should be good for a while.

Now. With the Velocity RDA clone i got off of ebay there were two read made coils in the bag. I am not sure what they are they appear to be 26g though. does anyone know what they could be? I see lots of RDAs come with some made coils as a freebie.

Most likely kanthal. Use them in regular mode.

Often pre-made coils that come with an RDA are going to be Kanthal and usually they are 26ga or 28 ga. Take one of the leads and gently bend, not much but a little to get a good idea. Nickel, unless tempered will be bend instantly and stay put. If you are not sure, don't use them for now until you can compare to other wire maybe.
My advice is leave Nickel alone if you are new to building. Stay with Kanthal on power mode and practice building & wicking for a while before trying other things.

A very simple build that works well on the velocity is Dual 26ga Kanthal, 7 wraps, 3mm ID, which should come out to 0.5 Ohm. The same build with 28ga would get you 0.8 Ohms which also works pretty well. You want to make sure you position your coils well too. On the velocity I line mine up in between the post holes which gets them centered for the air holes and adjust from there to your liking. You may use waste some wire in the process of learning, but it is well worth it. If you have trouble building dual coils and getting them to heat evenly you can run a single coil for a bit too, it may not perform as well but it may help you get used to the process. Dual coil is not all that hard, it just takes some patience and some extra pinching with your ceramic tweezers to get the hot spots out and get them even. Wicking correctly is what I found to be the hardest thing, but just keep at it, you'll get it.

Watch a lot of videos, do a lot of reading and be safe.
