Got myself a lavabox dna200 to play with!

Has anyone here used stainless steel or titanium wire for TC?

Not sure what kind I need to get....

Stainless Steel - so far I have tried SS317L with no success at all, ended up binning it, but haven't tried SS316L - I have had success using both the Triton and uwell crown pre-built steel coils, Titanium is more expensive than Ni200 wire but you don't need as many wraps, I've found both to be good for re-building all types of atties, I have a nickel build in one of my kayfun Lites @ 0.11ohm, you can download the csv files to import into eScribe from the wire wizard on Steam-Engine for the different wire types.

I tend to use a lower temp for Titanium & Steel (380-420) than Ni200 (420-450) - Titanium can be used with DNA40 and SX350J (with updated software) mods as well, but with DNA40 you must use a lower temp (recommended is 90°F less than with Ni200)

Cheers Bob I'll stay clear of the 317 SS then, not sure if I'll bother with trying 316 but definitely think I'll get some titanium to make use of the DNA200.

Enjoying it so far, finally made use of the thicker gauges of Ni200 that I got when the DNA40 came out like 25 and 27ga but the DNA40 couldn't give them enough power.

Got a 27ga dual coil 11 wraps 3mm in the velocity RDA at 0.08 ohms, set to 470F, works great.

Had a go at 200W on a kanthal dual parallel build (2 x dual parallel, so 4 wires) as it was the lowest build I have atm and it's insane. Works for about 1s and then dry hits even with that amount of wire, much better at 80-100W.

I did the same, bought some 26 & 27g wire, which I have hardly used - have another Hotcig on order from FT so will give it a try when it arrives, the only parallel one I have is a couple of single coil parallels, one kanthal in a KFL+ @ 0.80ohms and another using SS317L in a Lemo @ 0.50 ohms on my D2 which I have set on Temp mode (Ni200) @ 25J & 400°F (appears the D2 will work in Temp mode with SS317L but not sure how effective it is, that's why I have it at a lower Joules than I would normally use it, none of my other mods recognises SS317L and just fires it as Kanthal in power mode).

Have you tried 317 with a curve from steam engine on the DNA200? it looks pretty similar to 316 on the graph, but reading about these different wires that I've never used (just stuck to Ni200 until now for TC) stainless steel will be the one with the greatest error in the temp due to the curve, titanium is better but still Ni200 is the best for accuracy at least.

I have heard that 316 is better and tends to be recognised by the DNA200, which I think is maybe same stuff that the Crown & Triton use or it could even be 304, there are also some other new wires around as well using NiFe, that some people have been testing as well.

Thanks I'll check it out.

Yeah NiFe30 is similar to stainless steel in terms of temperature coefficient so might work ok, but I haven't read of any experiences with it yet.

Shorter in height.But still has the tapered bottom.Don't like SS,maybe my imagination but i can taste it.
I'll pick up an rba in the future.

something going on with the crown tanks? huge delay on my order, first until 20th then another delay until possibly the 30th. seems to be a problem everywhere think theyre just hard to get hold of atm? should i cancel order with FT or just wait it out? or maybe see if i can switch from black tank to silver? since theyre restocking silver today or tomorrow

When i was in the B&M yesterday picked up a Sigelei 150TC.
Weird looking,but have to say it was perfect in the hand,probably the best i've felt.Well designed.

As long as you get better Trisha, thats the main thing I used to hate going to the doctors, but i have got a nice young lady now, so any excuse and i am there

The sooner I get better, the sooner I start feeling like a normal person again - we have some very good GP's now, so that's good. It's the 'stuff' people keep wanting to do that gives me the ab dabs! I told them ..'You want to do that again, I need to be asleep!'

Our two were fine with being spayed, so I'm sure Maya will be ..you won't be happy until she's back home with you though
