There are various grades of steel, but the main one is SS316L, noticed you said you bought some wire on Amazon, hope it wasn't from Crazy Wire, they are the same company as vape Atomizer Mesh (VAM) and are not a vape company but a wire company and some of their wires are not really good for vaping , the best wires for vaping are from Stealth Vapes, they test their wires.

 Yes I bought mine from The Crazy Wire Company. I paid £17.50 for the 'Big 5 Starter Pack'.
Someone in this thread recommended them to me.

I'm looking on Steam Engine now..
Wire - SS316L
AWG - 26
Single coil
Target resistance - 0.5ohm
Inner diameter of coil - 2.5mm
Rounded to "full wraps" 12
Rounded to "half wraps" 12/11

12 wraps? I'm sure that's not right.
I get 8 & 8/7 think you put in 24 instead of 26

Bob, i`ve just been reading your and sue`s post re the ss wire. In TC mode does it act the same as NI200 ? If it does i may invest in a spool of that. It would be handy if i could use one type of wire in both my TC mods and none TC.

EDIT: Both my FT orders are now showing movement on the tracking :)

It was probably me who gave you the link Sue. I`ve been using their wire for years with no issues at all, but after reading Bobs post i will start using stealth from now on. Don`t worry though, you will be fine with what you ordered. :)

Great George, i didn`t even know you could use it like that :)
You have an evic mini on the way don't you Terry?
You can use it both ways on that, but the mod needs a 316L setting or to have manual tcr.So you won't be able to use it in TC on your other TC mods without those, but ok in power mode.

Right Gotcha George Thanks :) Would you say it`s better than Kanthal for the vape it gives ? And as i said, is it easier to work with than Kanthal/Ni200 ?

On other forums I've seen people saying they are good and some say it's bad.
The reviews on Amazon are good as well.

It's like the Kanger Subox mini. Some people think they are really crap but I really like them.

I listen to everyone's opinions on here and the only way I can make an opinion is by trying it out for myself :)

It's not the small cost - I do prefer to switch off what is not in use, especially something used only weekly or monthly, and I don't want to be pulling leads out every time I've used one.

I appreciate your thoughts - I just want to keep it simple. I use Macrium to do a full back up weekly, and a calendar pop-up reminds me to switch on the drive ..and that's all I need to do apart from delete the oldest backup before switching the drive off.
Reading what you say, I think I'll start using a small WD 500 drive I have to keep a copy of the latest backup on, and store it elsewhere - probably in the car glove box!
The other drive is used for website updates, and that is only switched on/used as and when needed (not often enough these days! ;))
I appreciate that and I break undid try to keep it simple. I am not a proponent of complicated home user backup. In business wih tape we use a minimum of 22 of them in a cascading setup which accounts for month and several year end finances typically. For home trying to implement those makers of things is ridiculous. I mention the offsite portion (moving a drive or online) because I recently had a friend who had their house burn down. They were religious about backups unfortunately they never took the drive off the computer. They lost all photos of their child's first 8 years. Itsbheartbreakingnbegsuse they don't have the money to send it in for sector recovery on each platter.

I am happy to talk to my nephew ( a C level employee at the worlds biggest travel site) who also is religious about backups and lives in the UK to ask what online service he uses. Most of them are a fiver a month. They set up in minutes. Carbonite encrypts days locally before sending. - also important.

The last thing I want to do is make things complicated for anyone. Well second to last. The last thing I want to do is see someone lose a lifetime of memories just due to lack of consideration for natural or stranger made disaster ! Or accidental file deletion.
When j was 18 I chowned an entire web server to my user account when I worked for a web provider. Anyone can delete files or otherwise compromise them without realizing - one keystroke can destroy things. Even as recently as a couple ears ago inhale two drives fail innanfoir drive setup. Cost me a ton of data - none of which was important but it was inconvenient.

Anyway. I hope you find something in happy to help mkre ping s coy in the car is a fine so long as the car isn't likely to be compromised by a disaster affecting the house! And you rotate drives.
