Hey guys, looking to get into DIY juice at the last minute. I have been vaping Heather's Heavenly Tobacco ONLY for about two years... so I'm looking for a really tasty RY4. I'll scroll through 155 pages if I have to but hopefully someone can help out.
Tobacco + Vanilla + Caramel = basic Ry4 type mix. One of my favorites.

The problem is finding your favorite in the many choices available. I'd suggest doing a search for a clone to see if you can come up with anything. If that fails then TFA Ry4 Double gets a lot of good reviews and might be worth a try. Hangsen Ry4 also gets good reviews and is very different from the Ry4D, so one of those two might at least put you on the right track.

If you'd rather roll your own, here's one of my favorites for an example, but I have no idea how close it is to what you're looking for.

Hangsen Highway 4%
TFA Caramel Candy 2%
TFA Vanilla Swirl, Vanillin, Vanilla Bean, 1% each
TFA Brown Sugar Extra 1 drop per 5ml

Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes. :vapor:

TFA's RY4 Double, though light on the tobacco, is an excellent flavor. 8% RY4 with a drop of Acetyl Pyrazine per 10mL was one of my staples. I haven't mixed an RY4 in a while. Maybe it's time to start playing around with it again.

I think I've finally stumbled upon my first original juice that makes me go :w00t::w00t::w00t:

I can't promise this won't have some slight revisions but, I'm nearly certain it's 90% of the way there.

"Odyssey"
2% INW Dark for Pipe
1% FA Jamaican Rum
1% INW Shisha Vanilla
.5% FA Tiramisu
.5% FA Butterscotch
1 drop EM per 10ml

I've tested this less the butterscotch for the past 2 weeks. Once it hit the 2 week mark, more or less fully steeped I presume, it was absolutely amazing. Everything blended very nicely while leaving the tobacco very much so at the forefront. Rum was the second strongest note, with vanilla just accenting everything and the tiramisu, while not directly noticeable, adding depth and "darkness" to the mix. In terms of room note, my partner likened it somewhat to Wakonda, which I found sort of odd - I guess the coffee comes across more in smell than taste. Either way, I loved that feedback.

I just mixed up another batch with the addition of butterscotch. I think it may be the final piece to the puzzle. Will further smooth out the ashiness of the dark pipe, while accenting the rum quite nicely. Sampling it fresh and it's absolutely delicious, but time will tell.

I may need to make very slight percentage adjustments here or there but, I think all the flavorings have found their home in this mix. And indeed it may be the final product.

Anyone who wants to try this, please do and give me feedback on what you think of it and what could be done better.
I think I might agree with your friend, you might be on to something like Wakonda. I found FA Tiramisu to be a very powerful flavor that can overtake a recipe pretty easily. You're right in only using 0.5%, but I still think the coffee flavor would be pretty noticeable. I do have everything but the Dark, maybe I'll have to try this recipe out with the Captain Jack for Pipe I have and see how this works. Thanks for the recipe.

Whats most interesting to me is how the rum and coffee flavor are so awesome together. If this winds up being a good vapein the same vein as wakonda, im sooooo happy :)

What has anyone heard or tried from Blacknote? According to one of the DIYers (SmokinJoe, I think) he really likes them. I have not mixed yet, still gathering the details since I am a total newb to this!
Unless I missed something, that seems to be vape ready e-juice. For extracted tobacco flavors I'd suggest Hangsen and some Inawera. Some of my favorite tobacco flavors are from the SC (super concentrated) line, available at Bull City and several other vendors. I'm not sure, but I think they must be extracted flavors as well because I don't see how they could get them that good any other way.

JD is correct on his recommendation of Hangsen and inawera and bullcity is a great place to get your flavors. But first do some research on DIY. Let me help you get started.

My blogs will give insight into all aspects of DIY, from steeping to what supplies to have on hand to a basic walk through mixing your first E-juice.

then read the stickies at the top of the page.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.

That could be right, JD. I am totally new to all this, so trying to catch up before the Feds muck things up like they do everything else.
I'll have to admit that I haven't stocked up as much as I should, with a stash of only 1L of 48mg from MFS to start on once my present supply (about 50ml of 100mg) runs out.

If you are going to stock up on nic keep in mind that you'll need to develop a plan for mixing it down. You'll need several bottles so that you can develop a strategy that allows you to mix down without opening your big bottle/s multiple times. There's lots of info already posted and easy to find, but if you have specific questions don't hesitate to ask, either by starting a thread with your question or posting it in a running thread.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Your mention of rum and coffee reminded me that I like those flavors as well, so on to my list they go lol. This chasing flavors is never ending isn't it? :vapor:

But the mention of rum reminded me that I have some SC Rum Raisin, so in the meantime I'm enjoying this.

Inawera Tobacco 2%
Hangsen DK tobacco 2%
TFA Vanillin 1%
SC Rum Raisin 1%
FA Oak Wood 2 drops in 10ml

For anyone that likes a good rum raisin flavor, the SC Rum Raisin is fairly accurate and well worth a try.

For anyone who hasn't tried this yet - you should. Love the complexity of this mixture. Not one flavor over-takes the other...very rich feeling as well. The addition of the butterscotch was brilliant! I'm so use to caramel in everything - and well...because caramel is fabulous - but the butterscotch is the just right dark-sweetness that brings this mixture to the next level.
Thank you Sloth for everything

Ask, and ye shall receive.

A long while back, I talked with Brendan at Flavorah about adding more tobacco flavors to the Flavorah lineup; whether or not he was planning that addition in the future. He assured me, even though he's not a tobacco guy, he was eventually going to boot out more tobaccos. He kept his word.

I've been sent the 5 prototype tobaccos to test batch and review. Right now, they are simply labeled Prototype Tobacco #1,2,3,4 and 5.

I have no clue as to what tobacco flavor profiles exists in each one of these bottles. To date, I've never done a blind taste test with any concentrates. This should prove to be fun and challenging.

The new flavors are steeping away at the present, but I'll report back when all is said and vaped.

I know it's been a while since I first posted about the new Flavorah tobacco prototypes, but I kinda wanted to see where Flavorah was going with their new tobacco line before I spouted info which might need to be retracted.

At this point, I know two of the prototypes will be released. One of which is already on the market; Red Burley.

Here are my short and sweet thoughts after the blind taste test on all five prototypes.

Flavorah Tobacco Prototype Samples:

1 - Oriental tobacco; light, bright and airy; ever so slight mint and/ or floral notes. Woody notes of cedar and/or sandalwood. No real ash content.

Mixed at 5%, 40pg/60vg; pleasant at 5%; would mix at 3% as primary tobacco.

2 - Burley type, pipe tobacco flavor; perhaps a hint of Turkish thrown in as well; somewhat dark and heavy flavor with notes of chocolate. No real ash content.

Mixed at 5%, 40pg/60vg; probably will hang at 3% as the primary tobacco.

3 - This one has me stumped; somewhat of a conundrum. I feel as though it is an attempt at an American cigarette tobacco blend. Slight woody, musty cedar notes; very faint mint note in the background. Not overly strong; low ash content.

Return to this one later for more testing.

Mixed at 5%, 40pg/60vg;

4 - Kentucky dark fire cured pipe/cigar tobacco; dark, full bodied, almost pungent in nature, but not as pungent as say, Latakia or Perique; nicely aromatic; slightly bitter; picking up on some nut and caramel qualities; Medium ash content.

Mixed at 5%, 40pg/60vg; would mix at 3% as primary tobacco.

5 - Not quite sure of the tobacco base in this concentrate? However, I get up front notes of fruit and/or slight melon taste on first vape. This is a sweet tobacco, almost cream like in nature. Low to medium ash content. This could very well be a nice stand alone tobacco.

Mixed at 5%, 40pg/60vg; 5% stand alone mix or 3% with some adder tobaccos.

Bad news: Flavorah will probably not be releasing the NET cigar flavored concentrate (#6 prototype). Why? Well, it was actually a NET. Deeming FDA regs will more than likely halt it's release. Flavorah doesn't want to be caught up in anything, "real tobacco" oriented. I'm really sad about this, 'cause 1% or less was all you needed for a great cigar vape; nothing else was needed in the mix.....truly a stand alone concentrate.

Thanks FDA!

Flavorah is bottling and releasing the # 4 prototype, "Kentucky Blend", which has just as much, if not more, character as the Red Burley. The Red Burley, by the way, is hands down the best synthetic burley tobacco I have come across to date; tobacco fans will not be disappointed.

All for now. But, if I get any more info, I'll pass it on.
