I know they are tiny... I think I could do it though - have done a lot of jewelry making and beaded cross stitch embroidery LOL can't be harder than working with metallic thread

WhooHoo - another stitcher! I agree - Kreinik can be the bear.

And BTW in regard to an earlier post - I do have a Class A CDL with multiple endorsements. :)

Last week I saw a vape shop employee try to steer a female customer away from the mechanical mod she was eyeing. Although he didn't use the exact words, his message was, "You should try this eGo-C. This is more for women." She looked mildly annoyed that he wouldn't give her much info on the product she was interested in and ended up leaving.

Oh, I can most definitely defend myself, and I have had to many times in my life .. One thing that makes me madder than a male who assumes the weakness of a Woman, is a female who assumes her own. Because I hold "Woman" in such a high regard, I also hold her to higher standard than even Man.

And so it makes me smile to see the Women here show themselves in all their strength, intelligence, and glory. :) ... There's no Jewel rarer than a Woman.
as it should be.

i'm in classes for mine, currently. somehow, it's always been pleasing in my heart to see a woman behind the wheel of a big rig. something about putting into action the rights and empowerment that's been fought for for so long and breaking the mold that just tickles me so. i know it can be a rough road to travel at times, which makes it all the more meaningful for those that make it.

BTW, i'm proud to say, i passed my tests for doubles/triples, air brakes, general knowledge, combination and tankers all on my first attempt. :D been tossing around the idea of getting my hazmat, twic card and passport to open up opportunities, but it seems unlikely for a steering wheel holder to actually need them right away. if you have any thoughts, i'd like to hear them.

Try being an OLD female vaper. It's a blast.

These young bucks with all their geekiness and I come in with better gear than they have, or so they tell me.....lol And when I understand what they're saying and doing or give THEM tips on something it's even more fun.

I enjoy it very much in the local B & Ms. I guess I'm sort of an anomaly around here. :D
Often times when I am teaching a person, or showing off my gear I bring something up.... Vapers of a fine vintage usually have the best gear ;)

Muay Thai ... I love Muay Thai. I started out boxing, then I found Muay Thai about 7 years ago. Something about it being legal to throw knees and elbows drew me in ... seriously

And I feel ya on the injuries ;-) ... I have put my body through the ringer between bodybuilding, boxing, kickboxing, personal training, teaching American style kickboxing (for fitness), spin ... then after about four years of doing that part time, in addition to my full time career in Finance, and Law, I got the bright idea to return to my first love and passion which is Dance education full time. 200 students a year, 30 classes per week, five Regional, and one National competition a year ... my body hates me

Bakers cysts, herniated discs, a torn meniscus, and a pinched nerve in my shoulder ... But I am recovering from all, and very close to smashing comeback. At least that is how I've planned in my mind, God willing. :)

It sucks to be injured and sidelined, but damn, at least I have a lot to show for it.

Muay Thai is bad ... I was going to ask if that's what you do. When injuries started piling on lol I changed my style. Aikido is wonderful for leverage, switched from the big kicks to more Kung foo style small kicks tricky kicks, and of course...I use Jeet Kun Do style chain punching. Spent years learning how to do that. Plus knife fighting although my instructor got p.o'd at me, because I taught one of the younger gals (18) some naughty tricks  I was the only person who's dumb enough to argue with a 4th degree black belt lol. He chewed me out, and I yelled right back. Look at her!! She's young and pretty I am teaching her these things so if needed she can fight for her life. Now I have a most embarrassing confession..... I used to back yard wrestle  Wish you the best on your physical recovery Nikkita :) P.M. if you want to chat about it. I know a lot about natural healing. Keep kicking ....!

What a terrible way to do business. I don't get that reaction, they will usually spend time showing me all the gadgets... somehow I feel lucky to never been talked down to. Maybe the shops here want me to buy their stuff or maybe I've just mastered that "don't give me your :censored: or I'll go somewhere else" look

I have nothing against tech inclined women. I'll be honest, and say that as someone that has worked in tech most of his adult life... I've met very few that were entirely competent in electronics.

Some of the absolute best soldering work I've ever seen has been done by women, I will not even try to argue there. I have seen some absolutly incredible surface mount soldering I wouldn't even want to attempt to try to duplicate, done by women.

However, on actual troubleshooting, I have only met a few that were on par with their male counterparts, of comparable experience.

Good for you!! Those tests are incredibly hard so you should really be proud of yourself. Big pat on the back!!

I've not used my CDL in a few years now, but haven't let it lapse because it's so darn hard to get. My thoughts, FWIW, is get all the endorsements you can even if you don't think you will need them immediately or even ever. Much better to have them and not need them, than to need 'em and be scrambling to pass all the tests.

Back in the day, I used to (among other things) drive a 40' GMC motorcoach in 4" spike heels and a pencil skirt. But that's another story.....(yes, before ya'll go there, I was also wearing a top.;) )

Knife fighting ... oh man have you got my attention! Hearing stuff like this motivates me even more in my recovery. My knee is the slowest to recover right now, but I am so much better today than I was two months, slowly getting my mojo back without over doing it. Judo is a another discipline that I am interested in, but have zero experience at this point, but it remains on my list of things to learn. I am somewhat some what familiar with Aikido, but I don't know a whole lot about the discipline.

And back yard wrestling? Shoooooot, I know a thing or two about back yard wrestling, I did a whole lot of that too with my older brother growing up. It reminds me of my first physical fight with a boy, I was 12, and we got into a fight in big field at an elementary school around the corner from my house. Wrestling with my brother was all I knew, so that's what I did ... it ended with me slapping on what we called "the cobra clutch", it was similar to what is known today as a rear naked choke in MMA ... His name was Azeriah Williams, and needless to say he didn't want to fight any more after that ... I was wearing a white dress that day, I'll never forget it.

Thanks for the well wishes too, and I would love to chat about natural healing. Nothing but my belief, and faith in my own power self regenerate has gotten to the point I am at now. Back good, shoulder good, the knee is better, but still some healing to do .... I don't do western medicine, which for me is a recipe for death. ;-)

It's weird, but I'm female, and I've never even gotten a distant whiff of a negative response here or anywhere.

Also, mechs, rebuilding, vaping, are hardly stereotypically masculine. You turn a delicate wire into a coil, spin a cotton ball into a slender yet fluffy wick, then thread the wick through the coil using tweezers. I use my crochet and knitting needles for wrapping coils all the time, and having experience with knitting, sewing, etc., helps when building.

btw I don't for one moment think that women can't or shouldn't be gamers or gun collectors, or that men can't or shouldn't knit or sew. Going purely by social stereotype and nothing else, vaping is at least as feminine as it is masculine.

Today I posted a column about how it's sometimes awesome for female vapers...and it sometimes sucks. In many ways, female vapers are treated like female gamers, comic book fans, tech nerds, etc. Many vaping guys will find vaping gals attractive, but some vape dudes automatically dismiss female vapers (building skills, mech knowledge, etc.).

A male friend and I went to a local B&M. There was a 20-something guy behind the counter and I was looking at the mods he had. We got on the subject of coils and I mentioned that I was reusing the coils, dry burning them and replacing the wicks. His reply "that's the last thing in the world I'd expect to have heard from you". I'm thinking if my male friend had said that...his reply would have been different.

Wow! That's offensive . Yeah, I'm sure if you're male companion made the same comment, counter guy would probably be, like, "Dude, you've got to step up your game. Getcha some rebuildables, man, blow those clouds to impress the ladies, getchoo some game, yo!"

It really is sad to see how many men there are out there that think women can't do things our gender.

I hear ya. As a guy, the only thing I think women shouldn't do is be a firefighter. As a big boy, when I am in a burning building waiting for someone to save me, I want a guy built like the Hulk to come in and carry my fat ... to safety while I am crying and screaming like a school girl.

I hope it made as much sense to you as it did to me, when I was typing it :D

Gender discrimination is bad....and rampant in the US (prolly other countries too, to a lesser degree), except it's done under the table and hush hush....

we need another female revolution

Actually, the US is probably one of the leading countries of gender equality, along with most of the EU and UK. It's not equal yet but we're certainly growing in the right direction.

An interesting thread. As a female vaper, I never thought that girls trying to build their own RBA is an intrusion to male territory. I enjoy building my own coils as well. And I don't think I'm weak than man no matter in any aspects. When viewing some video reviews on youtube, you can find that there are many girls are sharing their feelings about vaping different kinds of devices with their male fans.

That's actually a subsection of the topic. A lot of guys talk trash about female video reviewers and some guys admit that they only watch certain reviewers "because she's cute." It's the same deal with female personalities in gaming and tech. A lot of viewers dismiss them, saying things like "she's not a real gamer" or "she's not a real tech nerd." Even the ones that are really successful, some males dismiss their page views or video views saying that it's all based on looks. *shrug*

There is enough mockery and disrespect in both directions of the gender wars our society tries to throw at us. In the past it was feckless women bumbling through existence in comedies, and for the last couple decades it's been feckless men bumbling through existence in comedies.

There are far too few people, both men and women that know how to use tools these days. All too much fueled by a disposable culture that would rather throw away things than fix them. I'd bet 3/4 of guys out there wouldn't be able to change their spark plugs or oil, much less change out an alternator or starter (not even going to need to get into rebuilding anything here, for my argument).

Considering the art of making jewelry through beadwork, I am surprised that most people lack the foresight to see that this provides the foundation for building coils.

People dismiss each other for tons of reasons. Too fat/skinny/short/tall/happy/sad/etc. Women tend to think men are immature and reckless, and men tend to think women are stupid and illogical. A shame, as when you get down to it... Regardless of how people piss, most people are immature/reckless/stupid/illogical.
