In a ce2 the stuff the coil is wrapped around it if indeed thats what it is im no expert on this just posting my thoughts for more input from someone that may know.
In an attic if blown in insulation i think if its fiberglass and stirred up into the air by ones foot i would think would be harmful ti get inside you.
I have preburned the wicks on ce2s to install in a tank and they get red hot i did not small anything unusual not seen anything floating around.
The stuff seems to take a lot of heat maybe more so than a coil on a atomizer but again im no expert.
Also i have heard of silica wicks as well but forget where i read that.
Hope to hear more imput.

Relax. It's not fiberglass. That stuff's brittle. What's in the wicks is called silica. It resists burning. Just keep moving... Nothing to see here.

The same stuff is used for oven doors as a heat-resistant gasket. They sell silica rope at my local Ace hardware. It's alot more flexible than fiberglass and works well as a wick.

Yes there is a difference as fiberglass is a glass reinforced plastic but most call glass fibers fiberglass. Even insulation is called fiberglass when it is just glass fibers.

I am an HVAC tech so I have inhaled more glass fibers than most ever will and more than I would have liked. If you ever go into your attic you will probably inhale more in a few minutes than you ever could puffing on an atty. Glass fibers in your atty it isn't going to be picked up and moved in the air stream wet.

I think some believe that glass fiber has to be a carcinogen like asbestos because both are silicate fibers but there is a difference between the 2. Glass fibers actually dissolves in the lungs then it is moved out with mucus. Asbestos splits longitudinally making thinner and thinner fibers that embed into the lung tissue. Once in your lungs almost certainly always in your lungs. I am no expert just passing on some info I have read.

Fiberglass is a Generic term to refer to a Family of Fibers that can be bonded together with a resin. So when someone says something is “Fiberglass” they aren’t being very specific and somewhat misleading.

Misleading because to most people “Fiberglass” implies a Fiber AND a resin.

e-Cigarette atomizer wicks can be made from just about Any fibers that is Chemically stable and does not break down under Thermal loads that the Atomizer Wire can produce.

Such as Silica or Aramids.
