Okay....you're going to REALLY think I'm nuts, but one of my favorite movies is 'Field of Dreams.' I was watching it recently, and all kinds of different meanings came to my spirit. So, I recorded it and watched it with different eyes and it amazed me. The movie is supernatural.....but then, so is God. So here goes, and if you don't get the comparison, that's fine. I promise.
1) The movie starts out with Ray (Kevin Costner) speaks of rebellion against his father. Well, until we're saved, we live in rebellion against our Heavenly Father. His father dies before he can tell his earthly that he forgives him. Forgiveness heals.
2) All of a sudden, he hears a voice. I can only speak for me, but I heard the voice of God before I was saved. He told me that when I moved back to MS, I would have to face Him. I even told Him that I knew that. But even if you didn't hear God's voice in your spirit, you heard it preached in church before you get saved. It's called conviction.
3) When he plows under half of his corn crop to build a baseball diamond, the people thought he'd lost his mind. I immediately thought of Noah. Or, how about David standing up against the giant, Goliath. Or, how about Joshua and the children of Israel walking around the thick walls of Jericho.
4) All of a sudden, the impossible becomes possible!
5) In the movie, the school board talks about banning a book from school. How many of your children carry a Bible to school. God got banned from school in 1962.
6) Then, in the movie, he goes to find someone to help him. (James Earl Jones) He has no idea why, but he seeks out the help of someone. Been there done that. You know you are supposed to do something, but you have no idea why. And this person knows he is suppose to go with you. Then there are two on a mission.
7) Then they seek someone to help from the past. Been there done that too.
8) In the meantime, foreclosure on the farm is falling around their heads. This is satan, telling you that you can't do this because you will lose everything! Threats and lies!
9) When they get back to the farm, James Earl, who is a writer, was invited into the corn field, so he could come back and report. There have been so many people with NDE's, or taken into heaven or hell and they come back and write their story. Some are saved, others get saved when they come back. They tell what happened.
10) Ray gets a bit ticked because he didn't get to go. I can honestly say that I got a bit ticked when I wasn't Divinely healed like others. Yep, my feet are made of clay.
11) Now keep in mind, Ray's brother-in-law still can't see the ball players and he is in Ray's face screaming about the doom that will fall around their lives. How many times has satan screamed in our faces that we were going to fail. Then God takes the obstacle out of the way.
12) At the end, Ray reconciles with his father, and the people start coming to Iowa. Salvation connects us to God and then the blessings begin. God also puts people in our path that we can witness to and connect to with similar circumstances.
Yeah, I know, it looks like I have too much time on my hands, but I wanted to share the experience. If you have deeper insights, please post! I would love to hear them!
