So, after much experimentation with a package of 5 XL clearos from Totallywicked (Their sale)... on #4 I finally have an amazing vape..

Every single one I tried, the coil would get red 1 second after firing... wasn't wicking properly. On this one, decided to try something I saw in a video by Shan Burkholder... she used a butane torch to 'burn' the wicks (outside of the plastic).

So, I took a clearo out of the plastic housing, torched the wicks.. To get the piece of wick inside the coil, I simply attached the innards to a battery and gave it a good dry burn multiple times. I also frayed the ends of each wick (untwisted it). I put it back in the housing, and put the rubber-plug back in upside down so it couldn't restrain the wicking but still block leaking.

This bad boy isn't getting red even at 5 volts. CLOUDS of vapor and amazing flavor.

Why can't they come from the factory like this?!

Just a update. I dont know what the ohms are on the paticuler r5 im using (I got them used) but once I dropped my voltage a little lower then I usually do and turned the cap upside down, I started getting clouds from this thing. Pretty clean flavor too. I have a couple ideas for this I will give a update later

It works. Give it a try. I burned the wicks, unwound them completly, and instead of putting the cap on upside down, I cut large notches where the wick will go through, so there not being restricted at all. I may be a fan now.

Yeah, I didn't even unwind them completely, just the ends... but I thought about it, wasn't sure if it would work or not so good to know it did! The biggest issue with these things that I'm seeing is when you go to fill the damn things with a syringe/whatever you use to fill them, you press the rubber-fill cap thing TIGHT onto the wicks (trying to force the needle through the fill hole) thus constricting the wicking process.

The best way I've found to see if a CE2 is 'working' without getting nasty hits.. just take your driptip/cap off and look at the coil. I've found whenever even a small bit of the coil becomes orange/red, it's not wicking quick enough and is going to give a nasty taste... I don't even attempt to hit them until I can power it for a good 5-6 seconds without the coil getting red.

This might work better for you filling them, worth a try anyway. I find pulling the caps off with a bent paper clip or something similar and dripping along the side of the tube is easier than using a syringe. When I replace it I just line the slots up with the wick and then put the ring on top if it then use my drip tip to push it down over the cup. The drip tip pushing it down just far enough that it seals but not all the way down to restrict wicking.
