How did I last so long with a cheap 1-bay charger??

This thing is pretty cool.. Dig the 2 independent bays, the adjustable charging rates & the real-time charging status..

Also like the option to plug it into my car, should there ever be a need...

Seems to be good stuff..

If it lasts, then definitely worth the price...

I also just picked up the VP1. My batteries don't get hot when charging anymore.

I was using this thing, which was part of my sigelei Zmax V3 kit..

Seems like a quality build, especially for the price.. And at 1 amp, it was pretty quick.. But also had issues...

1.) Being a single-bay charger, I was running into too many instances where I had a "back-up" of charging waits, since I vape from 2 PVs with a range of battery sizes.. It could even affect my bed-time & ended staying up too late, since I was like, "Yeah, I need to get these charged before tomorrow.. Guess I can squeeze one more in.."

With 2 independent bays, all that will go bye-bye...

2.) It started having issues completing charges.. A 2,000 mAh would be sitting on that thing for 3.5 hours, for example, and the light would still be red (still charging)... Should have taken only 2 hours.. End result was that the battery wasn't fully charged at 4.0V.. Or sometimes I could remove the battery from a red-lit charger that was taking too long, then put it back on & it would immediately turn green (charged)...

I don't believe it was a battery issue, either, because it was happening with all of mine, but only sporadically.. And some of these are authentic AW IMRs less than 5 months old.. Something was messed up with the charger...

3.) Oftentimes it would make this humming / whining noise at various times during the charging cycle.. Probably nothing, but yeah, I'm all set with that...

Anyway, I guess I got my money's worth from it.. It was part of the kit for my 1st APV, which just made things easy for a newbie at the time..

Served its purpose, but time to move on! Long overdue... :D

I love mine. First and only charger I will ever use. I feel safe using it too. Also great for bringing dead cells back to life. I've witnessed it like "it's alive!"

Question: Is it okay to change the charging rate while it's charging?

If so, does it matter if you go from faster to slower, or vice versa?

I change my charge rate occasionally during the charge cycle. So far, it hasn't affected my batteries life cycle and they still charge up to 4.2 volts. I only use Aw's by the way. I cant speak for other brands of batteries.

Been running 2 of em since they came out, great charger. No problem to change charge rate while in operation, however best stick to some basics. .25 for XX350 > .25/.50 for XX500 and only use 1.0 for XX650's (and only when needed). I charge batteries like I BBQ, low 'n slow.
And to anyone in the market for a VP1, buy the VP2 'cause it's only a matter of time before you add a 26650 to the rotation:)
