Hello all,
i finally smoked my last analog 5 days ago. I'm still finding the cravings difficult, but vaping has been the best alternative. My question to all is, how long did your worst cravings last and when did you know you would never pick up an analog again. Thank you for any support you can give during this difficult time.
Kevin
Congrats on the switch!
I just made the switch myself 13 days ago, sort of. As a pack-and-a-half a day smoker, bought my gear after work the Friday before last, but also picked up one last pack of Marlboro Reds. Smoked them while the battery was charging, the pack was gone by Saturday night. No real cravings the following day, but Monday rolled around and a coworker who frequently takes smoke breaks with me handed me a fresh pack of Reds, not knowing that I had intended to make the switch. That pack lasted me til last Friday, only smoking one or two whenever I felt the need to charge batteries. Each one tasted worse and worse.
Since that last cigarette, I have had zero cravings for analogs.
Here's what helped me:
I went with fruit flavored liquids. Absolutely nothing tobacco-flavored, but with the strongest nicotine they had in stock. It helped my brain distinguish the fact that I could get the nicotine fix while distancing it from the familiarity of burnt tobacco. Plus when I would sneak an analog, they tasted THAT much worse.
I installed an app on my phone and tablet that tracks how many cigarettes I would've smoked during this time, as well as how much money I would've spent. It's weird, but it's a nice little motivator, especially seeing that I was averaging over 10,000 cigarettes a year.
Good luck!
