hi there..i'm new to vaping as well. strangely ever since i started vaping i dont get cigarette cravings anymore. i used to smoke up to 2 packs a day. sure, getting the most enjoyable juice could take some time but once i found an all day vape juice i like, i find myself enjoying vaping more than smoking analogs, moreover, vaping is becoming a fun hobby..cheers!

My little bit of advice is if you are first starting out, don't be stingy on your nic level. The Idea is for you to be comfortable enough with vaping. That takes education practice and some trial and error. If you still do a few regular cigs along you path, No biggie. Many of us have weaned ourselves off slowly. I now am slowly reduceing my nic level. I tell myself not to do large jumps at a time.

I do still after 8 month crave cigs. But I know if I ever picked one up, I would not even finish it. Its just the 30 yrs of memorie in my mind that makes me think 'cig' instead of eCig.

Hello all,

i finally smoked my last analog 5 days ago. I'm still finding the cravings difficult, but vaping has been the best alternative. My question to all is, how long did your worst cravings last and when did you know you would never pick up an analog again. Thank you for any support you can give during this difficult time.

Kevin

Congrats on the switch!

I just made the switch myself 13 days ago, sort of. As a pack-and-a-half a day smoker, bought my gear after work the Friday before last, but also picked up one last pack of Marlboro Reds. Smoked them while the battery was charging, the pack was gone by Saturday night. No real cravings the following day, but Monday rolled around and a coworker who frequently takes smoke breaks with me handed me a fresh pack of Reds, not knowing that I had intended to make the switch. That pack lasted me til last Friday, only smoking one or two whenever I felt the need to charge batteries. Each one tasted worse and worse.

Since that last cigarette, I have had zero cravings for analogs.

Here's what helped me:

I went with fruit flavored liquids. Absolutely nothing tobacco-flavored, but with the strongest nicotine they had in stock. It helped my brain distinguish the fact that I could get the nicotine fix while distancing it from the familiarity of burnt tobacco. Plus when I would sneak an analog, they tasted THAT much worse.

I installed an app on my phone and tablet that tracks how many cigarettes I would've smoked during this time, as well as how much money I would've spent. It's weird, but it's a nice little motivator, especially seeing that I was averaging over 10,000 cigarettes a year.

Good luck!

Wow! Welcome Kevin! Congrats:) this is the right place, so thanks for reaching out to ECF and we all wish to see you succeed!
curious; did you "noodle around" the InfoZone here? (top o page). The resources are fantastic here. As a HUGE global community theres a vast number of experiences some which will mirror your own. Vape is slightly different from smoking.
fwiw, I found (heavy full flavor pack+/day) the first two weeks that "smoking" stayed on my mind while I vaped myself silly.
After a couple weeks my sense of smell began to come back! thats when spring cleaning took place! Everything that reminded me of the old stinkies went bye-bye. i also gained confidence after a week more after 2 weeks; now i couldnt ever imagine going back and I dont ever crave an analogue.
that being said- I make darn sure I have pvs around me 24/7. I think you need to be kind to yourself and honour every forward step.

between here and there
Try a bottle of ejuice with a higher nic level. e.g. if you have 18mg nic go to 24mg. When those cravings hit, vape on the higher nic level juice. That is what I did, and a lot of members did when they first started. The idea is to get rid of those cravings. If you find when you vape the 18mg that those cravings come back, then start ordering the higher level until you feel you are ready to cut down. This was just an example, so if have 12 mg go to 18. You get the idea.
Good luck and keep us informed...

:)

When my cravings hit hard I would vape harder. This sounds lame but even today 18 days after my last analog. I vape and read the comments on this forum to pass the time. For me it works because I am vaping and reading the comments to help take my mind off of the craving.Everyone is different, but I have not had a real craving in the last 3 or 4 days and I was a 3 pack a day smoker.

I quit after 16 years but I didn't go cold, i had bought 4pks before my equipment arrived and I had 3 packs left and I smoked 1-2-3 a day til I finished and never bought another pack. My goal wasn't actually to stop, I just hoped to cut down and bring home less funk to my babies. I'm still surprised I haven't had one in 6 months.
I had my mom visit in May and she's smoked since she was nine meaning 47 years and had no interest in quitting (she never quit, even during her 4 pregnancies) and no interest in vaping. I let her try out some equipment, we checked out a store and I sent her home with some equipment and she's been vaping happily since!

Congrats and good luck!
Don't beat yourself up if you smoke tho, I look at vaping like chantix where they say smoke if you want and the desire goes away. For me vaping was the same way. Who wants a stinky cig when you can vape something yummy and you don't stink!
Anytime I have even slightest urge to smoke I hang out in smokers area and desire goes away quick!
