Finding the long inhale next to impossible.

I read on here some of the tips for newbies and came across one when I first started about how long inhales are better. Granted I realize this isn't going to smoke exactly the same as an analog, but I just can't seem to do the long nonstop inhale. I guess I would call myself more of a "mouth" smoker than a "lung" smoker. Suck in a mouthful of smoke, a halfway inhale, then out through the nose.

Do you all think this maybe why I'm having a hard time giving up the analogs? Because I'm still at a half a pack or more.

I tried the inhale straight into the lungs thing and had a coughing fit, myself. Normally, I pull the vapor into my mouth, then inhale. Not sure how else to explain it. That long, slow and steady drag may take some practice, but it gets easier. You'll develop your own method.

That's what I do, pull the vapor into my mouth then inhale. The same as a real cig. I can do some nice snap inhales and french inhales.
I take 3-4 second pulls. I have trouble inhaling straight into the lungs.

Get into high voltage or different resistance atties. Both produce more vapor so you can vape that way. The only PV, not HV mod, I've found closest to actually smoking is the Pitbull I tested for smokestik and they're supposed to be for sale soon. I don't know how their other ones are. It's a learning curve and everyone goes through it.

My starter kit came with 36mg nicotine bottle.

Most likely not your nic levels then.

You will get a lot of good suggestions here. All I can add is to not worry right now about how much you're still smoking. Everyone quits in their own time. Eventually I got to where the cigarettes just didn't taste good anymore and I threw out my last one mostly unsmoked.

Something else to keep in mind, some people need something else in the cigarettes, like the MAOIs. If you continue to need them, try adding some snus to your routine. There is a smokeless section of the forum just for that possibility.

I do it that way too. I can lung inhale when I want to badly enough, but it feels wrong somehow, so I don't. I don't sweat it either. Just because some of us can pick up a PV and never touch an analog again does not make it the 'way it should be done'. I'm pretty sure there's a lot of people who feel better ditching cigarettes on a slow taper rather than all at once.

Do you all think this maybe why I'm having a hard time giving up the analogs? Because I'm still at a half a pack or more.

You didn't say much about your setup other than your post about the 36mg liquid, so I'm not sure what to ask. Are you having cravings for the analogs, or are you finding that you've reached your nic limit before satisfying the hand-to-mouth that a lot of people have sometimes? What were you smoking before, both in quantity and type, and for how long?

I vape at 4mg - 8mg, and came to this as a ... *counts on fingers* ... 17 year smoker, about a pack a day. Camel 99 Lights for the last few years of it. The reason why I went low-nic is because I knew I'd have a hard time with the hand-to-mouth and I didn't want to make myself ill from too much nicotine. Go easy on yourself; whether you're just substituting sometimes, or if you're using PVs to ditch analogs, I'm proud of you for every single cigarette that you've avoided by vaping. It can be really tough to ditch the stench sticks. :)

Shadzi,

I used to smoke Marlboro lights when I first started smoking roughly 20 years ago. Then Marlboro red 100's for a few years, and just switched back to the light 100's just in the past 4 months. Amount was 1 to 1 and 1/2 packs. Sometimes even two if it was a really crappy day. That would be my analog history. lol

A friend of mine bought my starter kit somewhere down in Phoenix 3 weeks ago. It is the three piece automatic 510. At least that's my best guess, it matches the pictures I've seen of them.

My drive to keep smoking.. I'm not really sure. I think it's the lack of vapor that's doing it. I finally got off my tush and conquered my insane fear of ordering online and got some different juice for this thing. I read that VG makes more vapor so I ordered a couple bottles of that.

dragon,

For what it's worth...
After 25 yrs of smoking I really wanted to quit and I really liked smoking. Then I discovered e-cigs. My 1st goal and expectation was to have them mimic and seamlessly replace analogs; I discovered very quickly, they don't do either for me. Part of the problem was my unrealistic expectations and part was because my 1st e-cig was low quality and produced little vapor (and it tasted terrible).

After researching this forum, asking questions, investing a few more dollars, and trying some different methods...

Using a standard ego batt with a low-resistance atomizer and a simple cart mod, my vapor production has increased drastically since my 1st failed attempt. I will continue to strive for more vapor, but for now I'm getting what I need and am really enjoying variety of tobacco and non-tobacco flavors out there. If you would have told me a year ago I'd be puffing on a cappuccino flavored e-cig I would have laughed you out of the room (it's really good by the way - freedomsmokeusa 24mg, 50/50 blend).

Vaping will never replicate an analog and that was a difficult and cold realization for me. Once I embraced that fact and learned how to up my vapor production and tried some quality juice, I realized everything was going to be ok. I've been vaping for a month and analog free for 3 weeks.

I found that I can stop drawing right before the cut off, and start right back up again. I can do this with a manual by releasing the button right before the cut off, and repressing it. It's easy once you get the duration right.

not that i'm complaining, but not one of my batts, which are all manual, have a cut-off. my first pv, long since retired, was a dse 801 auto and it did have a cutoff... lucky i guess

Two of my eGo batts have a cut off. My USB eGo batt does not. *shrug* A few people a couple months ago got some w/ a cut off. Most of them don't have it.
