Just some musings after my first day of vaping. I am wordy, tl;dr at the bottom.
So last week a buddy of mine showed me his e-cigg, and when I got home, the research began. Saturday night, my girlfriend and I spent a few hours on our respective PC's browsing forums and gathering price information. I signed onto the ECF IRC channel, and probably annoyed people with endless questions, but got all of the info I could not find elsewhere. The people signed on were a huge help and I wish that I remembered names. We placed an order with Cignot, and yesterday received our Joye 510 kits, PCC's and blank carts. I ordered flavored juices from Freedom2Vape, which I really hope will be in today (Marlboro is getting boring
).
So nearing 24 hours of mostly vaping (3-4 analogs for each of us in this time), I started thinking about the one my buddy had. He got his from a Chinese joint:
lightinthebox.com; Electronic cigarette SKE8084 (I don't have enough posts to put a link)
I don't know which model it is, but I don't think it is any of the ones mentioned here. He bought it on a whim, and as far as he knows, has to order carts from that one site (10 pre-filled for $3 from that site, fairly limited flavors, he doesn't want to mess with filling his own). However, he has been using it since August (9ish months now) and has never had to replace a piece, not even an atomizer. I read on here that the 510's that we bought need new atomizers anywhere from a few days to bi-weekly. It would seem that the way he does it ends up costing much less, since all he needs is the cheap pre-filled carts. Now I am wondering if I made the right move with the 510's, or if I should have gone more user-friendly with the simple one he got. I really don't like the thought of needing new atty's every few days.
tl;dr: Am I worried for nothing? Are the people who complain about constantly needing 510 atty's just having bad luck? I'm just wondering, besides the auto vs manual issue, what benefit there is to owning a "name-brand" one that has been hyped on this site. The people I know who got them from a mall kiosk seem to have a lot less trouble with them then what I read on here. This is not meant to offend or say people's advice on here is wrong in any way, I am just wondering what I am missing in this equation.
Thanks for any input, and also for the mecca of info that these forums provide.
