First DNA20 design. Let me know what you think.

Here is the design i have been working on for a DNA20 mod. My inspiration came from Mamu's stealth mods. This will be a small mod that has 2 1000 mAh batteries. The plus and minus button will be over 2 6mmx6mm tactile switches. The fire button will be a horn style switch. The top will have a ego come treading. Please don't hesitate to tell me your honest opinions. Trying to get it finalized before milling. Please give me your honest . Have a great day.

Sounds an interesting design and the outline looks great but the picture needs to be quite a bit bigger if the dimensions are to be legible.

I have a DNA20 that's been sitting unused for months. I soldered the wires but I have no case to put it in ATM. The case I was going to put it in was a wooden box. But that box snapped in half while I was trying to drill. Anyways, I just see it now as a very slow DIY project. I have all the parts but no case...or box.

With the picture on the OP, it's kinda small and hard to make out. Whats with the two different up/down pads? I think the big round part is the horn switch. But you only need two other buttons for up and down, or a toggle. It kinda reminds me of an NES controller with that up/down/left/right pad. Wait a minute? Was that the code to get to Mike Tyson?

So the issue with the picture being too small, I have no idea how to post a bigger version. So i will just tell y'all the outside size. The mod will be be 76.2mm long without the top cone. It will only be 44.1mm wide.

Sad Society- It's not a D-pad it's a plus and a minus sign LOL. Now i will forever see a NES controller. I wish i could get a DNA20 board. Every time i have a the money in my Vape Budget they are out of stock, when i don't have the funds they have a ton of them. I wish i had one to take to the guy milling this so he could get the size perfect LOL.

I wish i could find a good stainless steel horn switch but MV doesn't have them anymore.

Looks good, Gogg. It's great to be able to design your own case.

Just a few suggestions:
On the design layout, it's customary to have the down watts on the left and the up watts on the right.

If you're going to put 2 1000mAh lipo batts one on top of the other and also add a horn style switch that has about a 1/2" depth on top of the batts, you'll need at least an internal depth of 28mm - 30mm.

When stacking the batts and components one on top of the other, you only need an internal width of the flat lipo + a mm more for ease of fit.

The size of the 1000mAh batts you've chosen are a bit large for that mAh. You can buy Walkera or Storm single cell lipo 1200mAh 25C and the width and height are smaller than the 1000mAh Turnigy.

Those cheap horn buttons at madvapes don't hold up well and madvapes never had a stainless steel horn switch, only a chrome plated one. If you're looking for a quality horn type switch that goes the distance, try the E-switch 12mm high profile ones. They come in an assortment of colors plus stainless steel: PV5 series E-Switch

shopping MV is fairly futile, any more.

Madvapes used to be the goto place for modders. Not anymore with the constant out of stock parts and not responding to queries about when stock will be back in. It's frustrating and has led me on searches to buy parts elsewhere as well as trying to find a good deal on the price.

I don't know much about uploaded images on this site myself, I do know there is size restriction. I load the images to my rented server and just link to them from here. For simple diagrams, you could try saving as .gif instead of a jpg, that can cut the file size down while allowing for larger overall dimensions.

I got some batteries from hobby king.
they are the 1200 ma turnagy nano tech round @ 2.80 a piece and shipping was reasonable to .used two in my dna 20 and love them .
so igot 4 more .... making my boxes out of fiberglass and epoxy now rather then trying to find them .
mv is allways out of stock so don't bother even looking anymore.

Thank you Mamu, ecat and Rolf for your help. Does anyone know of anyone with a dna20 that is willing to sell it I am having the hardest time finding them.

Mamu, I looked at those horn switches and they would look amazing. Can I find those batts on hobby king or is there another site I need to add to my bookmarks. . I had the internal width of about 26 or so. So it won't be too big of a change.

just went to hobby king ....they are under batterys and asessories....hover over that and a new selection comes up ...then choose nano tech batterys ....scroll down to the round 15 c ones 1200 ma ...they are still 2.80

Nice design

I was thinking of designing a kit for resale to modders similar to madvapes kit, locally.
OKW sent me some samples to try out and I loved their blob which I had made plans to use..
It feels great in the hand and can be custom cadded to e cig 510, battery up to 26650, etc. specs..
I went to alibaba and lo and behold there it was built for less than I could put together a kit.
pesky Chinese manufacturers --they have a simple plan in electronics, many things, --we dominate, you do our leg work, we design it then, after..
except on custom units as dna provari nivel that I assume have expensive custom chips..

From your sketch I might just mention that the ribbon cable of the DNA20 must be treated very gently....orienting the OLED screen as you show will require skill as the cable is not very long.....many modders have spoiled a 20D display thru breaking the ribbon connection and/or cracking the OLED screen..... just a heads up my friend......

Lol that site has "dna20" on it. Or whatever you search. I'll just wait till evolv has some more made. Thanks for the tip though. Also redid the drawling all together. To be made to use Mamu's dna20 screen frame. I know I seem like a Mamu fan boy but she does amazing work. It will also cut down the weight by a ton. I really wanna try to make a logo or something to fill the emptiness at the bottom of the front. I am horrible at graphic designing lol.

The Aussie forum had a group buy on that alibaba dna20, they found it was spam from a scammer.. The DNA20 has not been hacked.
Pbusardo did a vid on the supposed 20 watt lambo he could only muster 13 watts and it had chip issues, it would fire at battery voltage not at voltage setting.

I so want a dna mod ..
