So here's the deal i've been using smoke tech mega dual coil cartos(been a fan boy without reading single coils vs dual coil advantages and disadvantages) since they came out (i think about a year or two ago) just recently became interested in making a change to rda's

I finally made the jump to rda's and just bought an Aqua Clone the link below is the one i bought
$26.38 Aqua Style Rebuildable Atomizer at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

So for my set up and watching tons of videos i decided to buy some cotton wick which is the one below(will try cotton balls eventually)
100 Organic Cotton Wick for Rebuildable Atomizers 60 Feet | eBay

And am using 30awg kanthal wire

The dilemma: I just came to read some info on single coil vs dual coils that state that single coils give a longer battery life and its still debated as to which gives off better TH, vapor, faster firing, and flavor for this reason i want try these single micro coil builds i keep hearing about. The reason this troubles me is because the aqua is made for dual coil would i still be able to make micro coilswith 2 strands of cotton wick? or would it be too much trouble?

Second question: Would it be better for me to twist my 30awg kanthal as shown in the video below if im only making a single coil atty?
Twisted 28 Gauge Micro Coil - YouTube

Third question: Are my supplies adequate and appropriate for either dual coil and single coil set up on the aqua?

My mod: VV/VW Zmax v5

First of all don't twist your 30 gauge yet. You can easily drop the ohms too low for your mod. Second, that is 2mm cotton wick, and it will not fit through a micro coil at all unless you cut a small piece and fray it apart, which should actually work well. If you make a coil on a drill bit that is roughly the same size as your wick, but use the same process as making a micro coil, you will end up with a healthy, well fed mini coil. I would stick to single coils for now just because you have a zmax. You can try something like this as well. Aqua by UVO systems atomizer ,setup single coil silice3.0 MM,kanthal 0.20 - YouTube

then what kind of device would be appropriate for a dual coil out of curiosity

I saw that video but i thought it would be difficult to thread 2 through a drill bit since two wicks side by side might be more of an oval shape and the drill bit is a perfect circle i could possibly twist the wicks together but would that affect how well the wicks would wick? lol didnt know how else to word that question sorry

All regulated devices have a low ohm cutoff somewhere. Twisted wire is a dual coil, which cuts your ohm in half. To get above the cutoff you wind up with a lot of coils of twisted 30, which can take a while to heat up, and cool down. Sweet juices and nemp juices get funky quick with this type of setup. Singles heat and cool quicker, leading to less caramelization of sweeteners and particulates.

A mechanical mod with a Sony VTC4 30A battery. Mechanical mods don't have chips or wires, but on the other side of that you lose all the safety features. When you add another coil in parallel the ohms will be cut in half. I don't think the zmax will go below 1.2 ohms, so if you make a dual coil, each coil would need to be 2.4 ohms or more. It can be done, but its usually done with 32 or 34 gauge wire and its just not as rewarding as 30 or 28 gauge in my experience. In most cases, one good coil is better that two, at least if its an all-day-vape. I have a .24 ohm quad coil in my igo-w dripper, but it vapes 10-12 drops of juice in 1 pull. That aqua has a tank that's on the smaller side, so getting it built single coil would help it not need refilling all the time.

I just want to add i appreciate all the advice you guys are giving me and thank you for taking the time out of your day to respond :)

can i stick that battery in my zmax? (Sony VTC4 30A battery)

Yes you can put that battery in the zmax, but it will not perform any differently because variables mods will limit the power. Yes make sure its not too snug because it will choke it out. You could also make a coil off the wick and double the wick over and hook it through with a piece of kanthal.
