hi all, new to the site and think its very informative with gr8 help, so i am wondering if some of you can help please.
i still smoke and have just come across this site and am looking to get my first e-cig.
i smoke about 20/25 a day so heavy smoker.
i am looking for something that gives the following criteria good thick vapour, good throat hit, easy to take a draglong battery life more than a day,
easy to use, accessories easy to get car charger, batteries etc, cheapish refills etc.
now to hopefully make this easier, i am not bothered about make, brand, size, etc as long as its reliable.
not too interersted in a starter kit as everyone seems to move on from them so would rather get straight into something
more advanced if that makes sense.
really looking for just the equivalent of my everyday smokes.
thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

If it were me I would get a really good variable voltage APV. Minimum of 1000 mah or 1ah means the same thing but you will likely see the something like 650 mah up to 1100mah and up. Get as high as you can afford as that will determine time between charges.
I have a Twist but a spinner my do but if money is less of a concern something like a Lav tube or Lambo or my preference a Provari if you can afford the Provari get the full size with the extender and you will be able to run with higher wattage on the atomizer for a longer time. For the Atomizer I'd get something like a Clearo CE5 repairable or my preference a Vivi Nova full size or mini if you get a small battery. With the adj voltage you can use a wide range of Ohm rated Attys. For most the higher the resistance the more coils in the heating element and the potential for more vapor.
Here is a chart I show to new folks to help with understanding that.

You will see a whole lot about ohms and voltage by themselves they don't mean much. Wattage is the trick. Most vape between 4-8 watts but some go higher. You can dial in a good TH with a VV battery but you will sacrifice flavor. Other ways to get the TH or throat hit are with nicotine since your a heavy smoker I'd go at least to 16mg or as high as 24. You can order higher but I would avoid it as it becomes a problem, Headaches, nausia etc. Plus when you get higher Nic leves you have to be more careful with handling.
Other ways to get the TH is with additives like alcohol and other chems the mfgs will add you can with many order the nic, TH and flavor of your choice.
Volume with something like the Vivi Nova is not a problem. loads of vapor.
Hope this if of help if you have more questions just ask someone will answer.
Welcome to ECF.

OH almost forgot get a spare for everything if you can possibly swing it. Stuff will fail our your battery will run down at the most inopportune time.

One last thing the Vivi novas and rebuildable clearos like the CE5 are easy to clean and maintain.

Oh Electricity terms.
Voltage = electrical pressure much like water pressure
Ohms = Electrical resistance as in the comparison between a small hose or pipe and a bigger one. Smaller hose bigger resistance. Electricity the her the ohms the higher the resistance.
Watts are total power and is a factor of OHMS and volts. The higher the voltage and lower the ohms the higher the power.
But Higher ohms could mean more vapor if you have the voltage to go with it because usually in higher ohms attys you get a longer coil and the potential for more vapor because of the greater surface area being heated.
Hope this is not too much for you but I like to post this you never know when you may need to know this.
Again welcome to ECG

I would not call you a heavy smoker lol, I was smoking 2 1/2 Plus packs a day!
I will let others advise you since I still use the unpopular little joye 510s
but, using ecigs is not as easy as buying, opening and smoking a pack of cigs! but most of us find it worth it.
and count the cigs you don't smoke and not the ones you do.
and get backups :)
good luck!

It might sound stupid to some of the veterans here, but if you've never tried any e-cig at all, grab one of the disposable NJoy disposables you find in the gas stations or convenience marts. Try it out and see if you could envision using a device similar to this but with at least 3x the vapor, throat hit, and size. If the answer turns out to be a yes, go ahead and skip the entry and mid-level devices and get yourself one of the best advanced devices available.

I'm always reluctant to recommend something like a Provari to someone who has never vaped before. A starters kit for a Provari can easily run you over $250. That's quite an investment for something that you have no idea if you'll even like vaping. They do retain their value almost at original cost, so even if it doesn't work out, you could get close to what you paid for it.

Having said that, nothing can reproduce what you experience from cigarette smoking. Vaping is an entirely different experience. Many who have quit cigarettes via vaping will claim that they prefer the vaping experience over smoking. I'm sure that there are some who still pine for a smoke.

Vaping has more going for it than the other nicotine delivery systems like the patches and gum. Vaping can allow you to continue the hand-to-mouth ritual that cigarette smoking has ingrained into your brain and personality. It can also fill your mouth, throat, and lungs with warm vapor, which may resemble the sensation of cigarette smoke. But it is not the same. No e-cigarette nicotine liquid can reproduce the taste of burning tobacco. And in the end, that's a good thing. Most of use who have quit no longer like the taste or smell of cigarettes.

I'll give you the same recommendation I give everybody, because this is what worked for me...I'm a former 510 system user. (Well, I'm a former every vaping system available user.... :)

My vaping tastes have evolved radically over the past few years but I've found the "GO-GO" Starter Kit a good bet for the following reasons;

* Cost - $59.95 for complete two eCig starter kit with (five) pre-filled Cartos or (three) pre-filled Go-Tanks: GO-GO KIT

* Batteries last up to two days between charges (depending upon how heavily you vape)

* Go-Carts - (Go-Carts hold 3ml of Nic Juice & Go-Tanks can hold up to 2 ml. (I vape all day on 2-3 ml) - The Carts are really no muss, no fuss but once you've acclimated to vaping you should really switch to the Go-Tanks (GO GO PREMIUM TANKS) as the vapor, flavor and throat hit are unparalleled. I really do insist that in time you do this :thumb:

Be sure to order the PRE-FILLED Go-Carts when you re-order. (Five pre-filled Cartos will come with your Kit but you'll need to specify the flavor and strength. I recommend 24 mg nic strength so you resist the urge to go back to analogs. I also recommend the flavor "EASY-BORO-USA Mix" as I personally believe this tastes most like regular Tobacco. I loved Menthol when I was smoker... hate it with vaping, so this natural Tobbacco flavor would most likely suit you. You can obtain that here: EASY LIQUID 10ML BOTTLES 24MG

Wishing you the best of Luck.... hope you find your Vaping Nirvana as I did :vapor:

Budget truly is the deciding factor here. Let us all know what you can afford and/or are willing to pay for an avd.

And to piggy back off what Bad said. Maybe there is a vapor group in your area that you can meet up with who will actually allow you to try multiple devices. Maybe even just one person in your area. Lots of conventions and meetings are beginning to form and these people are often friendly and willing to help.

If that doesn't sound like something you want to do, or there isn't anything in your area ... buying a cheap setup at first is probably the seconds best thing. Though, just because you don't like the ecig from the gas station does not mean you will dislike better devices.

I never used the classified section but maybe someone here can answer. Anyone ever sell their cheaper devices like 510s/egos on the cheap? You might be able to score a pretty decent device at a much lower price point that will give you a better idea how you like vaping.

for a decent startup, i recommend something like i got.
i got a vivi nova tank and an ego twist.

the twist is great, the vivi nova can have problems so maybe look into a different tank or cartomizers to start with, but definitely getting an ego twist w/ a tank is a good starting point and not too pricy.

a cheap idea: get a stardust clearomizer, a bottle of juice, and an ego twist. give it a try, you should be able to find that setup between around $40-$50. and if you don't like it, it was only cheaper than 1 carton :p

I started with an ego 2 years ago but quickly moved to mods. Not sure where you live but now there are vapor stores popping up everywhere and the people that work at the ones by me at least are very helpful and knowledgeable. They would have saved me a lot of money if they were around back when I started instead of buying setup after setup searching for the perfect one. See if there is one in your area
