I use a KR808D-1. I like how much vapor my passthrough makes; the taste and throat hit are pretty much the same. I know A LOT about my e-cigarette but nothing about other kinds. I was looking to get stronger/more/better everything (th, vapor, taste) so I figured the best I could do was get a 5 volt pv. All of 'em I've seen are vv (except for GLV2). Do they make a pv that is only 5 volt and where can I get it. Or should I get an ego or something else?

nope sorry, that was just a 5v passthrough from electronicstix. You want that on the go pv. In the meantime, you could experiment with lower res cartomizers. 2.0 ohms comes very close on a standard KR8.

That would not be a good idea, it will kill the 808 batteries.

OP i would suggest getting a VV mod. There's tonnes out there.

Madvapes sells inexpensive 5v box mods... used to have preassembled...prolly still do. I buy the kits and solder them together.

Now, that said, there's a lot of 5v mods on the market. The options (and burden of research) is, I suppose, yours. However the part that concerns me about your post is ....TASTE. Higher voltages can reduce taste. But they give you more "oomph".. more like a cig hit. Also similar to what you get using LR attomizers/cartos. Of course, if your 3.x volt stuff had crappy performance you may find better taste at 5v. Usually, its not quite as good.

You could always get a 5v passthrough and a 2.0 amp or better wall wart and try it out with 3.0 ohm stuff. That would give you a mains powered backup device too.

The good thing about vv is that you can dial in 5v if that's what you want, or lower voltage if you want to up the taste. I use 5 volt because I don't really want to "fiddle" with e-cigs. 5 volts, 3.0 ohm atties and I'm done. But others like the adjustable factor...for taste in particular.

2 cents.

2.0 won't kill the batteries.......anything lower than that will. The safety zone for a kr8 which runs at 3.7/4.2 is 1.8. It's what I did while I was researching a vv or hv. It'll just shorten run time of the battery. I did mean it to be only a temporary solution to do in the mean time. Sorry if I didn't emphasize than part

You can use this battery in almost any 18650 mod. Other than that it is necessary to use regulated voltage in some fashion to get 5v from batteries.

BTW, the 5v GLV really isn't 5v. It's 12watts regardless of what you use on it. (yet another way to regulate voltage)

Old Goat Mods sells 5v regulated box mods as low as 25 dollars not including batteries. Batteries are 4.20 each at MadVapes and the mod takes two of em. 5v Box Mod

I use this mod as well as a 5v passthrough from MadVapes with the 2.0 amp wall wart. I find the 5volt mod seems a little stronger voltage wise than the passthrough.. I'm thinking the passthrough may really be at 4.7 volts or something thereabouts. I have no way to check this and others experiences with the passthrough may vary. The passthrough is a great deal at 17 bucks for the passthrough and 9 for the wall wart to always have hassle free 5v vaping.

Once you experience the difference with 5v and a 2.8-3.0 ohm atty, carto, or CE2, you will not wanna go back to lower voltage. The higher voltage makes the nicotine stronger, helps you produce more vaper (if you like big clouds) and may enhance or weaken some flavors.

If you find a VV mod you like and can afford you can adjust your voltage to make the flavors taste just right. You may find turning down the voltage for the flavor doesn't deliver the same nicotine or amount of vapor you will like. You'll just have to experiment to find what flavors work best at what voltages for you.

+1 on the 5v WoW. That's the best price on a 5.0v tube mod.

My personal recommendation is the kalamazoo triple-v. It takes a pair of 18350s for great battery life - It has a nice deep juice well - it is very well made and I would consider it to be pretty much indestructible - it has arguably the best horn switch of any mod with that type of button (same button as the BB and a couple of others - very nice) etc etc etc.

kalamazoo.... triple-v? It's like you just made that up. I'm so lost. At least I'm not a noob and have a pv I like. I'm gonna reformulate my plan to do a lot of research cause it hurts. I'm just going to dive back in when I'm a few days away from purchasing my new VV or 5V and enjoy my vape for awhile......excuse me, will ya?
