Good report my friend, appreciate you went into some detail, very valuable info, thanks.
Got my CE2-X's yesterday, too. Would have had them on Saturday, but the mail lady screwed up and didn't deliver them. Been waiting for a good amount of use to comment. I had tried CE-2 when they first came out and they were a big fail on my juices. Even with PTB mods, removing the cup, etc., it just would never wick right.
Well, the CE2-X changed all that. Working great right out of the box. On thicker juices, pulling up the cup and wicks a hair makes it wick perfect. I can vape back to back and it doesn't dry out. And I've been able to vape the entire carto dry every time with consistent wicking and vaping. Only when the carto is almost completely empty do I need to let it be for a little while to wick between vapes. I've been using 3.0 ohm CE2-X's at 4.8V without any wicking issues.
Also, so far, flavor is staying very nice and consistent even after several refills over 2 days with a dark juice that I consider an atty and carto killer (flavor gets messed up even after cleaning attys and cartos start tasting bad even with top offs, both after only a few days). That's been my quest for a few months now, trying different tanks, dripping, etc. to find something that would give me consistent flavor and work well consistently after standard cartos weren't doing it for me any more. I liked the tanks, but found they required "readjustment" in the foam with every new atty and half the time wouldn't flow well if the atty bridge wasn't "just so," especially with thicker juices. I've tried my thick, killing juice in two different CE2-X's so far with consistent results and little to no effort to get them going, so that's a huge plus.
Been using anodized aluminum drip tips and they fit well without cracking the tubes. For the CE2-X's where I lift the cups and wick, I remove the extra washer and let the drip tip push the cup down to the right height. No leaks, even with my PV sitting on its side or angled upside down for long periods.
All in all, thus far, I have to say great job to GotVapes on the new wicks. I already ordered some XL's at 2.6 to 2.8 Ohm to try out. I'm still going to try the Vortex when they come in, but for now I think I finally found something that's going to work for me after a lot of trying different setups. Congratulations on a great product!
