I was just thinking about it.. From the look of the pictures it appears to be the same stiffness as SS. Depending of the wire they used it could have be hardened to make mesh. It should work the same way though. Not sure if there is a benefit, never tried it.. Anything under 350 should be fine the lower the harder to roll

Its very easy to roll the 350 stainless.

This was the cheapest sample I found, more than enough for years of feeder wicks.

About 30mm in length would you say?

Yes you got it!

I use 97% VG. And have tobeco v2 clone

When I cut the mesh I measure the width to the distance between the posts and the length to the width of the base. Give or take a few mm on the length depending on your juice and wick speed needed.

I have modded my air tube by grounding the knurling down so the mesh slides freely when assembled. Also to get maximum juice flow with 100vg.

Otherwise you need to cut them so they don't stick above the deck after you put the cap on and they push up from touching the wick. Because the air tube knurling will be slightly over the juice holes. Doing it that way will keep the mesh down in the wick so it doesn't slide up into the tank.

If they are sticking up the knurling will crush them to the side.

I remember you ground down the knurled flange at the bottom of the air tube. I was just about to do the same but then I saw a video (Andrew?) that explained that the flange is supposed to press down on the feeder wick. What I do now is to drop the mesh straw through the juice hole until the straw rests lightly on the rayon pad covering the post screw, then cut the straw flush with the hole.

The vs arrived today!!! Looking forward top getting home tonight and setting that puppy up!!!

I was tracking my 2nd V3 and it said it was out for delivery yesterday. I was so excited to get home and build it. My first was laying at my doorstep. When I got home there was that ugly orange USPS note saying come to the PO if you want your newest Flash-e. Talk about disappointment. Not sure what happened between the 2 orders. Both were shipped via DHL and then transferred to USPS once they hit the states or at least my local postal hub. Ah well, I'll get it today after work.

I took this video of rolling the straws one day.. I'll post it for the heck of it..

Rolled in 30sec. Went a little off using one hand to hold phone and record. After that you just adjust the tightness in the holes by rolling a little tighter or rolling the opposite way to loosen. Pressure is only applied in the direction you want it to roll tighter or looser.

350 ss mesh used

Wow! That looked super easy. I struggled with 2 hands trying to get it wrapped around a mandrel. I'll definitely be giving your method a shot on my build this afternoon. Thanks for that awesome tip Jeremy!

Jax had good results with the ortman fiber I think because its braided it hold its shape to keep a small gap.

Yup. When I first got my V3, I didn't have any mesh but wanted to build it. It comes with a small piece of cotton cord and worked surprisingly well. Couple shots...

I don't have an image but I took scissors to the tops of the feeder wicks in the 2nd image and snipped them as flush to the top of the evaporation chamber as possible.

It does perform better with the mesh and now that I've got some, I will always use the mesh. I'm fairly certain that the mesh will work better with a flavor change and certainly last much longer.

Yeah, I originally thought I would get more juice flow with vg without the ever so slight blockage of the hole, but who knows. Its done now. :)

I'll see how the v3 clone does when I get one. Now that I fully understand the flash.

Jeremy, That video was just what I needed, Thank You! Now another question, do you leave the center hole of the mesh that large when you install it?

P.S. If I can't get this rolling down, expect a pack of mesh to show up on your doorstep with a pre-paid return box.

Yes sir wide open, it was just about the right size there... I do use 95%vg.

As long as your fingers still work OK its shouldn't be a problem.:)

Yeah, my current mesh wick only has a 1.2mm hole through it but I am currently using that with 50/50 juice. I'm building the next one for 70-80% vg juice so I am definitely going bigger. I'm just going to take a piece and follow Jeremy's video. So freaking simple!

I know its ridiculous isn't it. Most videos I see out there seem to make it so difficult.

I'm sure something like a 110 could be different never tried it.. But 300 or 350 should be that easy.

Yup, stupid easy! I'm not really sure what mesh I've got as ECF member jpcwon sent it to me but I know that it is pliable enough to do exactly as you showed. I think it might be 400 but not sure.
