@52anddone Did you get the FeV 3 from fasttech?
If so open a support ticket and tell them the package came missing the pin. Attach a photo of the base (clean/not with build) showing the pin missing and they should ship you a replacement base.

Go to your Order History, click the Support button on that order and then Items defective or damaged (DOA) and request a replacement base. Attach a photo and you should be good to go.

My pin came out quite a while back. I put a little bit of JB Weld in the hole and pressed it back in.

Yeah, it was a FT order. I wish I had waited till I read your post before I started fixing it myself . Oh well. I think I have it fixed though, for how long I don't know. I took the smallest screw I could find (it was course threaded and really small), and filed off the threads completely on the end so it would fit into the hole, then filed down the threads so that the air chamber would slide down into the slot all the way. I cleaned both the screw and the pin hole with Isopropol Alcohol, dried both with a paper towel, then Super Glued the screw into that pin hole. We'll see how long that rigging lasts. If it don't last, then I'll try some of that JB Weld on that little screw.

I get annoyed by how the tank wants to raise off the base a tad on all versions.. It's becuse the oring retaining cuts are slightly wide. If you fill the gap it keeps the orings from being able to slide up a bit and keeps the tank down tight.

I think I have that covered, I think. I've ordered some 18x1.2mm o-rings in hopes of taking up that slop you talk about, and which I noticed on my V4. I took some dental floss and did 1 wrap around the bottoms of both o-rings and that seemed to help a lot, so I ordered the o-rings (I read the fix for that on FT forums for the V3), the 18x1.2mm that was said to fix the V3 should work on the V4 as I can use the V3 upper tank assembly on the V4 510 base and fits perfectly.

My OCD kept me from using the FeV 3 pinless...

Yeah, me too. It just bugs the heck out of me to look down and see a "HOLE" and not a pin. :nah:

FYI, On the ShenRay Fev4 I noticed my drip tip wobbling and not tight. I replaced the factory o-ring with a 6.5x1mm o-ring and my drip tip is nice and tight, I can pick up my Fev4 attached to my Presa 100 (with an 26650 battery installed) by the drip tip and no movement at all, drip tip doesn't budge. Factory o-ring is a 6x1mm.

Luckily my pin was in my jeans pocket I found it digging for change. :D
I was pondering using some 18g or 20g wire as a pin. If those didn't fit well then I'd try a piece of 14g or 10g copper. Glad to hear you got it sorted.

Wow, that was luck. I was also thinking about using some solid strand wire, but after looking around, all I could find was multi strand stuff. I'll see how this contraption I dreamed up will work, and for how long. I do expect to have to go back to square one at some point in time and do a re-do. That "HotCig" V3 vapes so good that I'll just keep at it till I get it right.

I am thinking of getting more V4's though, at some point in time. Next time I put it in "Long" mode, I'll try and remember to snap a pic of it sitting on my Presa 100. It looks a little strange, and makes the Presa 100 look like a mini.

In the 3rd pic of mine on page #69 I think it shows pretty nicely just what you are talking about. Those are the factory 18x1mm o-rings and I'm hoping that when my 18x1.2mm o-rings arrive that all that extra width in the o-ring retaining cuts will be taken up and filled. I'm hoping at least. I'll let ya'll know how it turns out.

an eye glasses screw comes to mind for the stud....just a maybe

That's the first thing I went for and found (luckily I was able to find some in my drawer), but would you believe it, all I had were 4 of the little screws, and each was too big in diameter to fit into that whole but too small to hold and put a file to, so I just went with a course threaded screw that was a bit bigger in diameter and just long enough to get a hold of so I could file on it. I'll get a picture up of my finished "Masterpiece" for one and all to marvel at. ;) I used a pair of forceps to hold that screw so I could file on it, took me about an hour and a half (my hands kept cramping up so I had to take several breaks).

Here's what I used. I forgot to put the diamond needle file in the pic, but the exact same size screw except for Black, and the forceps to hold that little bugger.

My only concern is that I don't trip over that screw late some night in the dark when I'm walking thru the house ;). If it falls out sometime then I'll fix that situation for sure.:thumb:

I have been using both my Fev3 and Fev4 (clones) none stop since I got them :vapor:. Each with a different flavor in them, one with Unflavored 8mg/ml and one is a Arabic HS mix, both wicked with Rayon. I am planning on getting at least 1 more of each of the above Fev's in the future. I have found that for me, I have to go "Back to the Future" as far as RTA's go, before I get something that suits my style of vaping. The only down side is that I wish I had gone ahead and tried the Fev's alot earlier in my vaping life and saved some money. Between the Fev3 and Fev4, I like each one the same, no favorite, both tied for #1.

Thank You all for the How-To's and info on this great RTA. I am a Changed Man. I am now a Fev Vaper and I'd rather Fight than Switch. ;)

Here is my ShenRay Fev4 (with Metal insert) sitting on my Silver Presa TC 75W, which I find to be a nice sized package. The Fev4 is a 23mm diameter and the Presa TC 75W is a 22mm diameter, but as you can see, the combination doesn't look too badly mismatched. This combination is 165mm tall, 278g or 9.81oz, and that's with a Full 5ml compliment of juice.

I've been horsing around with my New (to me) Smok RSST lately (and mesh wick), and like it very much, but have been thinking of my Fev 3 & 4 also. I have clones though (Fev's), as I'm not that well strapped to get Authentic's. Wish I could though, but the clones are serving me well. My success with my Fev's gave me the confidence to tackle the RSST and a full on Mesh wick.

That RSST looks very interesting, similar to those Nexatis... this is on my want list. How was your experience "getting it right" ?

Heck and dont worry, clones , shlomes, I have some too and some are really hard to tell apart from the genuine. I have to mark the clones with an dental pick so I dont mix up the parts.

I dont really have the money, but having boxes of jewelry that I dont wear helps to fund my madness.

Here is where I got my RSST ($12.99);
RSST Rebuildable Atomizer by Smok

Not a glass tank though, so tank cracker liquids should not be used, but, there are still Pyrex versions available, and dual coil versions.

I have had no problems at all getting the RSST up and running. I watched a few video's and off I went. The Fev experience I gained from this thread really helped me out with the Mesh wicking part of the RSST.

The FEV is one I don't have. Looking at it, it appears to be similar in construction to the Taifun GS line, and so I've passed. Am I wrong in that assessment?

The GS is one that I don't have, so I'll let someone that does answer that one Shawn.
