I just checked out focalecig and omg. I've paid high dollar for a lot of authentic mods and attys and those prices are about to make me fill a cart and buy a lot of shiny stuff.

I have an authentic Nemesis but I'd like to grab a different finish too... Does anyone know if you can buy the magnet for the switch there too? Or would I need to find that somewhere else?

Also I noticed the Caravela. It's sharp. Has anyone bought that? If so, is it descent?

I've never bought a clone before but I'm about to start.

I read through some previous posts, not all, but it seems this company is good and reliable. I understand its China so 3 weeks or so, right? Maybe shorter, maybe longer....

Sorry about the babbling, I'm shopping. :)

My FC order came in the mail earlier today, I placed the order on 2/13 so it took a total of 13 days to arrive. Not too shabby. I ordered a Caravela clone and a Trident clone.

First the good. The Caravela.

rr000w.jpg

I bought the version that's all SS with the 3 separate tubes. My first impressions were the fingerprints it collects and how light the spring is on the switch. It will fire on its own weight even without an atty on top in 18650 mode. Using a 18350 battery it doesn't fire on its own weight. But ya, the spring is very light. I wanna check out some magnets for the switch. It looks to be made very well, the threads are very fine, a lot smaller/thinner threads than my Magneto and they screw in a lot better. Very smooth like a fatty substance you put on toast.

I was expecting to have 3 sets of pins for the 510 to adjust for battery size but this actually has an adjustable 510 pin while also adjusting for battery size. The Left pic is all the way in. Middle pic is adjustment to fit atomizer flush. Right pic is adjustment for battery size. No battery rattle with my flat top VTC4's.
2hyl5hf.jpg

Besides the very light spring on the switch it also doesn't compress all the way in when I fire it with an 18650. Not a big deal. What is more annoying is seeing the threads to the locking ring when it's locked.
9bk8l4.jpg

Also the logo on the bottom feels like it was painted on vs. the smooth sailing ship logo on the tubes. It has a rough texture and raises up ever so slightly from the metal. It feels almost like sandpaper to my pinky when I fire it.
v8fneu.jpg

Other than those few minor things I'm diggin this mech. My only other mech right now is the Magneto and the Caravela is much lighter and I like the solid tube piece. The Magneto telescoping tube gets annoying to grip with the smaller telescope section. I'm not sure I can say if the Caravela hits harder than my Magneto... they're both close. I need to vape on it some more.

and now the bad... The Trident Clone

23krl0n.jpg

I own a Trident v2 clone and love it. When I was ordering the Caravela I saw FC's version of the Trident clone for only $4.90 so I said heck ya. It came with the drip tip which was cool. It was probably the dirtiest RDA clone I've bought so far and it has a MAJOR flaw. I hope I just got a bad apple cause if they're all like this, it's unacceptable.

First we'll start with the drilled air holes. They didn't drill any air holes opposite from each other. There would be no way to run dual airflow config unless you drilled it yourself. Some of the holes were drilled very close to the edge too.
t00ms4.jpg

But this is where the Trident shat the bed. The top cap is essentially too short. It doesn't even cover the airholes on the outside barrel, more like blocking them. This makes the entire AFC useless.
2afbta9.jpg

IMO the only thing to do is cut off the section on the top cap with the airholes so I'm left with the set air hole size on the outside barrel.
2h30xsm.jpg

Everything else about this Trident clone is great. So if the top cap was made right it would be a winner. Hope everyone else has better luck.

In other news... I was at an OUTDOOR mall today and the first thing you see when you walk in ....

Brennan,

Sorry to hear about the troubles with the FC Caravela - I opted for the 23mm, 18350 only model (w/ brass accents), and the engraving, and general machining are spot-on ($19.55 Sailing Type Mechanical Mod with Adjustable Pins-Silver + Golden(1 x 18350)) - so it's a shame to hear that the 21mm all-SS clone they're selling isn't up to snuff.

Still - glad you're enjoying it! Sounds like only a few minor issues there, unlike the RBA! But at least you aren't out much money? :)

You can do the magnet upgrade with the Nemesis that Focal sells however, they do not sell the magnets at this time. You can get that at fatdaddyvapes though.

I do have the 18350 EHpro Caravela from Focal, and its a gorgeous little jewel. I love this mod, it so well made, with a lovely mirror polished finish, very solid and heavy for a tiny thing. And it comes with extra firing pins, and a spring for the switch.

I don't have the Caravela 3 tube mod set though, its a new arrival.

Thanks for posting pics with your update. I love pics! I like the top cap design on the 3 tube set, too bad it doesn't comes with a extra spring like the 18350 Vela, but they are made by different manufacturers.

For the locking ring, can't you adjust the throw on the switch from the inside, so that the locking ring does not have be screwed out to the point of showing the threads? The finish looks nice from the photos.

For the Trident, I would ask for a replacement. You are right, the drilling on those air holes are terrible, and that should never make it out of the factory ... Its too bad because the body of the Trident actually looks good from the photos. I say email them, send the pics, and get a replacement for it.

Brenan,

As Nikkita said - have you tried twisting the screw with the button depressed to tighten-up the throw?

Hopefully he can because the mod otherwise looks great ... I am loving the adjustable pin on the top cap too, I like it more than having different length fire pins, although I am not complaining because these are definitely good to have in your "modders box" :p

Spoken like a true representative of Vapers Anonymous! We don't support vapers in giving up their excessive shopping habits, oh no, we fully enable them to keep going! .. its a "alternative" kind of support group. :p

Shoot, I bet China loves you NiNi. You keep it up, and I see a Chinese Holiday in your honor sometime in the not so distant future. Can you see it? The NiNi New Year, which commences on the day that you receive your annually renewed credit card. They will commemorate the holiday with a Kayfun street festival, followed by a special Provarinati dinner, and a dessert named after your favorite e liquid.

For all of you peeps who are purchasing from Focalecigs, and you have issues with a product, PLEASE give Doris a shout out. Nikki had posted this earlier in this thread that Doris did appreciate any and all comments, issues, complaints, etc., and if it involved "faulty" products, she would do whatever was needed to rectify the situation.

I'm posting this because she also expressed the same to me with the back and forth on my order that was listed under a mispelled email addy. (She also made it clear that there is only one "Doris", LOL, and that's her!)

That being said, we all have someone in our corner at Focalecigs and Doris wants to make sure that customer service is first. I'm sure she sees ECF as a fantastic place to get exposure for their company: doing people right, on this forum, will help their subsidy of Wallbuy grow. I'll also add that she mentioned that she DOES check out this thread from time to time. <---Now that is something you wouldn't expect, because this isn't an "official" thread by a "Forum Supplier". She doesn't have to read this thread, but she does. Nikki can send out a "911" and Doris is on it. You can send an email to Doris about the materials used in producing various toppers or devices and she finds out, usually in less than 6 hours, if not within an hour.
She wants feed back, suggestions for products to put in their line, REVIEWS, etc.

Brennan: Send off those pics of the Trident to Doris. Let her have the opportunity to make it right.

I never thought I would buy clones. I picked up the Tobeco KFL just to see if the high $ tag that Germany wanted was worth it. The Tobeco worked flawlessly, and then I hit the "Official" Kayfun thread on ECF and read all the "issues" peeps were having with the original, and then the revised original. I am so glad I passed on that $100+ "original". Just reading the replies from their customer service and their issues with customs was enough for me to say I'm not going there. With the low prices at Focalecig, I thought WTH, I can afford to check out their KFL's and isn't the Tobeco just a "clone" too?

The Marstech logo'd KFL is a fantastic piece. The only thing I could possibly say to improve it would be beefing up the o-rings on the outside tube sections, but that's more of a "user's" issue, sometimes I just don't tighten them properly.

Thoroughly cleaning any RDA, RBA, tank, etc., should be a no brainer. Doesn't matter where you buy them from, we have no idea what was used in the final rinse before the product was boxed. Alcohol, Dawn, canned air, we know the drill. I can deal with machine oil or a few burrs for the incredibly low price I'm spending on any of these units.

Can Focalecig improve on their shipping time? It is what it is, and so far, it outshines Fastech. For most of us, that's half way around the world, and entirely different custom issues and mail carriers.

ROFL! This isn't a public service announcement or "paid" shill post. Focalecig does seem to be concerned about customer service and satisfaction, more so than some USA vendors.:glare: Hey, at one point or another, we have or will have that experience.

Just getting this out of my head. :) I will be putting some pics together for any of you purchasing the KFL's so you can get the best out of your device. I went in blind getting mine, watched a few Youtube vids, figured out the coil and wicking, and it's quite different than what the the official Kayfun thread peeps are doing.

All that being said, if you have any issues with Focalecig products that we as a group can't fix or troubleshoot among ourselves, take it up with Doris. She has generously offered her assistance and we should freely take her up on it.

Just my :2c: Carry on! :)

A heads up for anyone thinking about the Kayfun Lite clone by Tobeco. The KFL styles (SKU 67047) I got this afternoon from e5cig are the EXACT same thing, EVERYTHING, box, components, the KFL, size, machining, weight...... and you could buy 3+ the shipping for the cost of just one + shipping stateside ($13.07 each + shipping). The ONLY thing different is some burring on the deck portion. Easy fix, comes off with a wash.
I'm going to assume the Focal has the same source, and if that is the case, just say "No" to Tobeco and go Focal. But, the only thing close in appearance to the Tobaco that they have is SKU 12113, $30.45, and it doesn't have the additional components. The Marstech "logo'd one (SKU 13053) gives you the extra PL tube, but still not all the additional o-rings, screws, etc., and a price of $25.63.

Doris, if you're reading, this is one you might want to add into your line up of KFL!:)
And maybe Focal could put a bag of extra parts together for the KFL's to sell alone, o-rings and screws can disappear pretty easily and hunting down a source for those can be a PITA!
