Thank you Nikkita for starting this thread, looks like some super great deals. I'm trying to decide between the KK and QQ mod, any idea what the difference is other then style?

I think they are pretty much the same other than one telescopes from the bottom and the other from the middle

You are welcome ... being in this game we need as many resources as possible ;-) ... aside from outer tank design, the QQ is 165grams, while the KK is 188grams. Now unless this is a data entry error, these are the only differences. Why one would be heavier than the other, I don't know, but I will say that the QQ feels solid, but not overweight... am vaping on it now, so that I can give you guys some feedback on it. Will update with a review tomorrow or that day after ... it takes a few days to get to know a product.

Just ordered the Marstech Kayfun LT style$25.63 Marstech Kayfun Lite Style Rebuildable Electronic Cigarette Atomizer - Silver(4.5mL / 2.4 Ohm) actually 3 of them and I should have checked with you guys first!!!!
Had received a Tobeco Kayfun LT clone for $40 from another place, it's great, and figured I'd take advantage of Focalecig's Year of the Horse promo and get these for $22......so...comments? Should have done a bit more research on this thread before I pulled the trigger, am I doomed or will it be OK?!?!?! *stupid person moment*

PS: Have heard the deck issue......urgh!

don't know anything about this kayfun but no where does it say SS, I see silver and alloy which to me means chrome plated.. just my thoughts

Alloy in no way, shape, or form denotes "chrome plating" ... they are not even the same. An alloy is a mix of metals, chrome plating is a finish that can be placed over brass, although you can "plate" any metal or alloy. Stainless steel is an alloy, Brass in an alloy, 14K gold is an alloy, silver is an alloy, and the combinations of metals that constitute an "alloy" is endless, so the list goes on....

But chrome plating itself isn't an alloy, even as it can be used to "coat" an alloy metal ... my point is, chrome plating is a finish, not an alloy, so I don't understand why you are equating one with the other?

never said chrome plating is a alloy but silver color as description says certainly doesn't tell me ss. If it was ss it would say ss not alloy.

Ok....after a Google or 2, "1. A homogeneous mixture or solid solution of two or more metals, the atoms of one replacing or occupying interstitial positions between the atoms of the other: Brass is an alloy of zinc and copper."
So, I think I'll just email Doris and get the skinny on it and hopefully she knows?

I'll post her response............

yes pretty much all metal is a alloy unless its like pure gold.. and yes ss is a alloy but when something is made of ss it is listed as such .
The only way to know for sure is to take 1 apart and test each part with a magnet, as 304 ss isn't magnetic

Thanks, danimal40. I kind of wonder if some of this gets lost in translation with their site but I'll get the answer...hopefully!:)

I think that is the absolute best thing to do NiNi so that the issue can be clarified ... Alloy metal can be many different metal admixtures, including stainless steel as it is also known as "steel alloy"

"In metallurgy, stainless steel, also known as inox steel or inox from French "inoxydable", is a steel alloy with a minimum of 10.5%[1] chromium content by mass.

Stainless steel does not readily corrode, rust or stain with water as ordinary steel does, but despite the name it is not fully stain-proof, most notably under low oxygen, high salinity, or poor circulation environments.[2] There are different grades and surface finishes of stainless steel to suit the environment the alloy must endure. Stainless steel is used where both the properties of steel and resistance to corrosion are required."

@Danimal40 you are correct in questioning why wouldn't they just indicate stainless steel as they alloy if it is, as opposed to just alloy, which again could be any array of metal mixtures ... but that doesn't take away from the fact that Alloy has nothing to do with chrome plating.

yea ecf has a block on it.

anyhow on a different subject I received my FT and VB orders today. The 650 evod ego batteries from FT are really nice for $6. The Russian clone is a little crunchy on the threads but not to bad, the deck looked a little rough compared to the aqua clone.
The Ithaka clone looked very well made on the outside but I haven't taken it apart yet and I forgot them at home as I ran to work:facepalm:

I worked in a electro plating company for 5 years I know what plating is (my fav was the sick bronze/gold) I also know when we made something from SS it said SS not alloy, my point wasn't that the plating is the alloy but that the alloy was chrome plated.

I worked in a electro plating company for 5 years I know what plating is (my fav was the sick bronze/gold) I also know when we made something from SS it said SS not alloy, my point wasn't that the plating is the alloy but that the alloy was chrome plated.

And my point was that the assumption of chrome plating because the description says Alloy makes no sense ... because it doesn't. And if what you were questioning is "what alloy", "why alloy", "why doesn't it say stainless steel", then that is what you should have said. But that is not what you said.

And to turn your own logic back at you, just as you went through a bit of effort to point out the many items that are in fact described as stainless steel, versus this item which is described as alloy along with the "assumption" of chrome plating, why then wouldn't the description say "chrome plated" if that is what it is according to your logic and reasoning?

In spite of the new hysteria surrounding the use of chrome plated brass parts and products, the use of chrome plated brass is wide spread, and quite common in the manufacturing of electronic cigarette products, and has been for quite some time ... So wouldn't the item description then say chrome plated if it was?

The comment you initially made was irresponsible and inflammatory, most especially considering the fears of many ecig users regarding chrome plated brass. The only legitimate question here is "what kind of alloy is this?", the assumption of chrome plating should have never been part of it.

I worked for 5 years as a Legal Fair Hearings Representative in the largest Trusts and Asset protection Law firm in the world, and have argued 138 cases before an Administrative Law Judge, and have won all 138 cases (my first professional incarnation), I know a speculative statement when I hear one. ;-)

you are assuming that I am saying that chrome plated is bad I have used plenty of old dripper and atomizers that are plated. Having worked with plating Im not the least bit worried about it. I was only giving my thoughts on it as I stated in the 1st post. my thoughts not absolute facts
