Review: Marstech QQ Telescope Mod and T3 clearomizer
T3 Clearomizer: The Marstech T3 clearomizer is very comparable to the Kangertech line of clearomizers in terms of design and function. The bottom coil atomizer head is in fact identical to the Kanger coil head, and they are interchangeable with one another. In addition to the coil head, the fill, function, and vape quality are also comparable to Kanger brand clearomizers.
Vapor /Flavor/Throat Hit: Using a VV Ego Twist set to 3.6 volts, with a 2.2ohm coil, I would say that the vapor production is good, and what you would expect from a device of this kind. I do not recommend using an eliquid with a VG content of 50% or more. Clearomizers do their best work with thinner eliquids, and I don’t believe that this device would be any different.
As it is with most clearomizers, the flavor is a bit muted however, this is relative to what an ecigarette user is used to. If you primarily use clearomizers, than you will be more than satisfied with the flavor that this device provides, as it is no more muted than any other clearomizer, its just the nature of this beast. A tiny chimney chamber, plus a longer distance for the vapor to travel up to the mouthpiece = less flavor and warmth of vapor … but again, this usual and customary for clearomizers. The throat hit is also on par with your average clearomizer.
Build quality/function: For a polycarbonate clearomizer, the build quality is good. I don’t get the feeling that the polycarbonate is going to spontaneously separate itself from the base, and the polycarbonate itself is quite thick. I have been vaping on this device since Friday afternoon, and I have not experienced any leaking, or gurgling yet … which is good.
All in all, this is an acceptable clearomizer, and the most notable aspect of this device is that it is compatible with Kanger replacement coils, and vice versa. Two thumbs up for the Marstech T3.
Marstech QQ Telescopic Mod w/Cartotank: Well right off the bat the Marstech QQ (KK) telescopic mechanical mods are unique in that come with a matching 4ml capacity cartotank, unlike the K100 telecopic Mod kits which have only a cartomizer with a matching cover. The Marstech QQ and KK mods further distinguish themselves with a side fire button design, which may appeal to those who do not care for bottom firing mechanicals, or who simply appreciate diversity in design when it comes to their gear collection.
Being that the Marstech QQ is telescopic, it can accept 18350, 18500, and 18650 battery configurations. Some other notable features are a 510 floating pin on the cartomizer that comes installed with the 4ml Tank, a tank which can be fully disassembled for cleaning, a removable 510 drip tip, and a lockable firing button. The mechanical mod itself is also 510 to Ego threaded, so you can use this mod with any device having 510, and/or Ego threading.
Both the cartotank, and the mechanical mod can be used with other devices. I have tried them both with an array of mods/APV’s, and RBA/RDA’s, and there wasn’t a single device that either of these failed to properly attach to, and function with … definitely a positive. Aside from battery power, air flow plays a major role in creating the vaping experience that you want, both in terms of flavor, and vapor production. The Marstech QQ has three vent holes on the body which allow air into the 510/Ego threaded portion of the device. The cartotank has an airhole placed on one side of it’s 510 connection, which is sufficient.
Build quality: For an inexpensive device, the build quality is surprisingly good. There are no lose, rattling, or ill fitting parts, and the threads of all individual components work well. I have used the device in all three battery configurations, and if you tightened the telescope down after inserting the larger batteries (500,650 mode) you will not have any play in the telescopic tube. The device has a neat looking, and feeling form factor.
The side firing button is a bit long, and firm, and you may feel compelled to depress it hard, and through the entire length of the button, but it is not necessary. In spite of the buttons firm feel, a normal press will fire the device, and I have not experienced any misfires over the course of the three days that I have been using it. The locking ring works well, although it requires approx. 8 full turns to lock it.
The tank has a true 4ml capacity, and I did not experience even the slightest bit of leakage from the cartotank (surprising) , which is a little less than half full as I type this. I must also note that while the cartomizer included was manufacturer rated for 1.4/1.6ohms, it is in fact a 2.5 ohm cartomizer, which I checked with a resistance meter no less than 5 times to make sure I was getting a consistent read. Since anyone purchasing this device will have to buy replacement cartomizers anyway, you can simply purchase the pre punched cartomizer of your choice, and with the resistance you prefer.
Flavor/throat hit/vapor production: First and foremest, if you are NOT experienced with cartotanks, I would highly suggest reading some tutorials for priming and properly filling one prior to use. If you do not properly prime and fill this, or any cartotank, you will not have a good vaping experience. Once that is done, I would say that flavor, throat hit, and vapor production are on par with your run of the mill cartomizers, but you should not expect it to vape like a higher end RBA. It is also my personal opinion that you will get the best vape out of a good quality, low resistance (1.5-1.8) pre punched cartomizer.
All in all, this is a solid device, most especially at its price point. And if you are in the market for a reliable beater mod, this is definitely an acceptable candidate. The fact that you can use both the cartotank, and mechanical mod with other 510 threaded devices is another plus. I would recommend it for a new vaper who is looking to try their first mechanical mod, and it is not yet ready for rebuildable atomizers, or anyone looking for an inexpensive mod to take out and about, and to work.
