^ This shade of blue is so pretty. I can see black, brass and SS working with it.

These have a different anodized coating, they are smooth. I think I like the matte finishes better because the colors are deeper and richer in tone. The two Blue matte finished ones are also a different ... dark navy and a sky blue.

Are these clones or authentics?

Anodizing doesn't affect the finish of the surface, it pretty much just colors it. If there's a nice texture its because Acerig chose to finish it that way before the anodized finish. So they rate higher marks for thinking through their product fully. I've been impressed with the few other items they've made recently. Fully as nice as the recent SXK products.

Just how much effort does the Manhattan switch require? It looks really nice and its 24mm so if it was in copper it might look OK with either the blue or gold Taifun. And then I'd have a non 22mm mod, since it'd take a whole lotta duct tape on my 17mm Nemi to get it to 23mm ;)

The Red has a lighter press than the Copper, but neither are hard to press, they just feel firm. I don't think its too hard, or anything that would keep me from using it. I remember what you said about your condition, but I think you would be fine. You could get the matte black to match the blue or gold too, especially since the switch is brass/gold on the matte one's.

You know, if you're just going for money shots, you could just cover a clear tank (the freebie that you already have) with colored transparent vinyl, like the nerdy young hipsters use for car light tinting - comes in tape rolls or sheets on eBay, around $5 (enough for a BUNCH of tanks). I looked into those authentic tanks, and jeez, they cost more than the atty!

Ghetto Fabulous tip #37.

Colored transparent vinyl eh? I have to remember to ebay it so I can get a better look. I don't mind cheap if I can make it appear refined.

Drifter scolded me for using wet dry to get rid of the Copper stain on my switch  He said I made his stomach turn and his eyes roll when he read what I did (actually he said I made him cringe, but I am pretty sure that he rolled his eyes at me too ) ... I think he wants to give me Pow Pow

Did Drifter explain what you were supposed to do? I've got a stain on one of my copper mods and its not polishing out. I've been using Eagle One Nevr-Dull wadding polish (cheap, about $6 in Walmart auto section, even though it was recommended by a gun person) and its been a great improvement over Brasso on my mods, stainless steel, brass and copper. Cleans quickly, polishes well, just wipe clean when done. But I can't get this discoloration out of the brass switch.

Pretty sure they're real...I know these manufacturers will custom match colors too. Just don't know what the MOQ is for that. I instigated a few of the colors that Smokeless Image carries and they're all custom....but seeing as I don't actually want one...

ETA: Yes, it's real, cuz somebody on Calivapers was selling one:

And it doesn't appear to have the same velvety finish (looks more like a car finish to me), but you could probably have it made so, if you wanted to. Difference in clearcoat, maybe?

I will probably be going that route, cuz I don't really like polycarbonate and will probably have to get quartz tanks from the other place. I like their nano tanks and metal nano topcaps for Taifuns too (especially the "foggy" one on black TF), but dang, polycarbonate. I saw the Rainbow Heaven KF kits that looked really good, but too expensive and heard they only work on Rainbow Heaven KFs...and you now know that I needs my colors, so for my broke ...., it would have to be colored transparent vinyl.

Its kinda pretty .. Acerig has the same finish in black but not sure about the other colors ... I love the velvety one's. But I like this too, reminds me of leather somehow. :p

At our machine shop we produce a lot of copper parts for customers. After we finish machining the copper parts they go thru many hands and develop tarnish rather quickly. So right before we box the parts up we use a product called Tarn-X. Basically it's a chemical dip that reacts with the tarnish and releases it from the metal. The reaction is almost instant and removes heavy patina, tarnish and stains quickly and easily. After the Tarn-X dip you rinse in water, dry and are done ;)

Gotta love chemistry :D You can find Tarn-X at Lowes in the household cleaning products section. The Tarn-X is very effective for Copper but I would not recommend it for Brass or SS. If you own copper mods this is a great addition to your inventory.
