That's great in glad I could help I stayed this thread in goes that the 800 plus people who have been talking about the fogger v2 would be able to help me with mine. The other thread is mostly people just crying about it not much help.
I used ecowool on my first build and it was pretty crappy then I put cotton around it to leap it wick and it was better but not very good
Right now I have around a1.7 ohm coil inside and I feel like I kinda have to wait for it to get hot enough, because it's being drowned, to really start hitting well.
I'm gonna throw a 0.7ish ohm coil in there and I think it will kick ....

I took a apart my first build that was at 1. 7 ohm and took a little while to heat up and get going but worked really well.. It was on cotton no Oring cut flush, cotton was all burned up inside but taste actually wasn't effected..

Sorry I took so long to put up pics, I did start this thread because no one had pics or video and hundreds of people were looking... But I just couldn't tear apart this first build... Glad I did tho, the second one is way better but it's prolly a lot lower than necessary..

So, I've been struggling with the Fogger for months. After fixing the shorting problem and settling on cotton for a wick I have tried to constrain the situation down to as few variables as possible.
1. I keep the chimney O-ring ON
2. I always wrap my coils with a 3mm ID (screwdriver that barely fits inside the wick channels)
3. 28g Kanthal 6 wraps(touching) ~ 0.8 Ohms

Then it is all a matter of wick size and density, here's what I do:
Flatten a 2" piece of cotton ball
Cut in half lengthwise
Pull off another 1/4 of that width
Make sure it is nice and even and free of solid chunks
Gently turn and squeeze until it is somewhat tubular and smooth
Twist the crap out of one end to make a feeder point
Feed it through until I feel the coil almost start to drag
Fluff out the ends as best I can
Slice the two ends LENGTHWISE in half and pull that top half back behind the deck rim, trim off excess, and pack it in
Put on chimney o-ring
Trim bottom half up to the o-ring
Prime with juice
Fire it once to make sure I haven't goobered anything with the coils

AND HERE'S THE KEY STEP:

Gently push ONE end of the wick just inside the outer wall of the deck rim

Button it all back up, fill and go.

So, this last bit I figured out all accidently as I was frustratingly vaping on the Fogger, set up exactly as above but without pushing the one end of wick inside the deck. That set up has always required frequent primer puffs between pulls to re-saturate the wick. As my frustration grew, so did the force with which I drew on those primer puffs and with one particularly vigorous pull I felt a "ploop" as one end of the wick got sucked inside the deck. Afterwards, it flooded only slightly and then when that was cleared, STEADY WICKING with no need to re-establish the vacuum and re-prime the wick.

HOLY CRAP, I think I finally may have this thing licked!
(famous last words?)

My build:

After three tankfulls, cotton is dark, but not burnt... Taste on the last tank was same as the first, more or less. The coil is close to being gunked, but still usable.

Coil is 28g, wrapped on a 2mm allen key. Smaller gunks faster - one tank only. Larger, haven't tried and won't, this build is perfect for me. Ohms out to 1.1. Something like 8 wraps? I play it by eye.

Second pic is burning the coil... It's still fine, not going to replace it yet.
IMG_20131206_165158.jpg
Third is the base with the airflow control removed - the green bit there is a C-shaped o-ring section to stop wobble / shorting.
IMG_20131206_171113.jpg
Fourth is initial cotton packing. This is cotton from CVS cotton balls... Not boiled. I'm not going minimal quantities here - it's fairly tightly packed. I keep the top of the cotton packing below the top of the coil by a smidge. Again: there's more cotton in there then most guides would suggest. Less cotton would make it flood, in this build. Also note, nothing's extending out the wick holes - it's all in the central area.

Fifth, wetted the cotton with juice. Saturated fully... I also use this time to tamp down the cotton around the coil, keeping one wrap fully above the level of the cotton. Not doing this results (in my experience) in the build gunking up / restricting airflow.

Sixth: chimney on. Not cranked down on the o-ring, but not loose. About that ring: from a cheap amazon sourced set. Its greater thickness may be a factor in this build, as I suspect it restricts juice from flowing too quickly, since it forms a sort of slight dam between chimney and tank.
IMG_20131206_171424.jpg
Seventh: tank on and filled. I fill up to halfway of the top section - about 2.7ml. Filling to the top always flooded other builds, so I never tried it on this one. Note: I don't bother closing the AFC during the fill, never had it flood on this build. I leave it open always.

Eighth: completed, time to vape!
Also of note: I vape 80%vg... Might not work as well w/ pg-heavy juice.

So I build mine at 1.2-1.4ohms 32g. nichrome touching coil. I run cotton. my secret is to unroll a cotton ball and cut a piece off length wise then fluff so no bulging. twist and thread it then un twist it in coil. the major thing that has had great results is I cut cotton at ends so a little is sticking out, then I grab 2 small puffs of cotton and pack under the cotton wick at the holes careful not to block air or anything. this allows the loose cotton to leak a little in the open holes as the cotton wick is not tight but the pack catches all the excess juice to prevent flooding. So juice gets in easy but pack prevents excess flooding. works like a dream multiple builds done all flawless. I had to disassemble the entire thing as the rubber in the catch well is turned slightly and semi blocks the air holes plus you can heat shrink the positive terminal to prevent shorting. hope this helps when I rebuild I will post pics

Hey Shoggot,
Excellent tutorial of your fogger carto! That’s the same way I was planning on building my V2 if and when I buy it. what size is the oring? Again awesome!

12mm x 2mm or 13.9 x 1.8, can't recall which, used both. Assuming you mean the one I used between chimney and deck?

I'm thinking of running an ecowool wick surrounded by cotton.
Do you think that the cotton will wick will enough from the cotton?
I just want to get away from burning up the cotton....
Any thoughts?

Hey all. Great thread. I'll put one of my successful builds on here as soon as I can.

Regarding the ecowool and cotton idea: that's exactly what I did on my first build but with braided silica. It worked amazing. (I actually think I probably should have kept it around longer before recoiling. I did a 4 or 5 wrap, non microcoil, that I pulled the silica through. Then used cotton around the juice holes to kinda dam things up a little and soak up excess. It worked rally well, and I could pull old cotton, dry burn, and go right back at it with some fresh cotton. For some reason, that seems to be working a little better than my cotton-only build I'm currently on. (not bad, just not as good.. )

Pretty simple setup but I get great flavor with it. Wicked with CVS sterile rolled cotton, not packed tightly at all at the wick holes. I wet them with juice, put the chimney on, and then kind of poke at them to fluff them out a bit.

29g - 10 wraps on 1/16" drill bit

can we get some pics with the cotton inserted? thanks to all...great thread

I had my Fogger going all day, was nice. Came home, took it off my mech, threw it on my ProVari to up the volts a little but and got a mouth....... of burnt .... Took it back to my mech and after a few dry hits, I'm back to normal. I had a bit of flooding at first so I just tightened the chimney and all was good.

Using an SS wick with 1mm silica core, 8 wraps of 28g kanthal at 1.3 ohms.
