Fogger V4!!

I tried a vertical coil build in my Fogger 4.4!
My results were poor! My findings were: On the small deck 4.4 the coils need to be wraped around a 5/64ths or less drill bit for clearance! Wicking is a major "oh ...." especially if you're using spaced coils! I finally got it done but the flavor and vaper wasn't as good as my other Foggers with horizontal coils! I tore it down as a bad build but may try again on my 4.3 or big Fogger where I have a larger build deck! I think wicking is the problem! Running the wicking through the coil in a horizontal buiod is much more secure than trying to wrap the wicking around the outside of the coil!

I wrap the coils loose so they aren't touching so that may make a difference but I have tried tight and loose coils with horizontal and vertical and cotton and rayon and I find a big difference between tight and loose coils and a slight difference with vertical. Rayon wicks better, lasts longer, prevents leaks better and tastes great on first vape. I prefer the taste and amount of vapor with vertical loose coils wicked with rayon. As taste is always subjective YMMV.

Agree with opposite winds, that makes it a whole lot easier. I use screws now to get perfect spaced coils so currently waiting on a left hand thread. Another thing to make vertical easier is remove the ground post and screw go into the spare parts bag and use the extra fill screw less o-ring for the ground.

Hope this helps.

Try making the coil ID the same size as the air holes, then tighten the coils up so all are touching, you'll be surprised at the difference it makes as it forces the air to be pulled through coils that heat more efficiently, better flavor and vapor

I commend your bravery on the vert build on the 4.4 deck! I don't think I have the skills. I do plan on trying on the 4.3. I have my replacement screws from the frog that may be here tomorrow? If not tomorrow, I will attempt during the week and thinking I can coil around one of the QVapes rods in the airhole? I think I read 3mm somewhere?

Anyways, again, big thumbs up on the attempt, I hope your 4.3 attempt gets better results. Post your results please, as I am anxious to know how it turns out...and may base my attempt on your results.

Edit: I love this thread. Tips come in before you can post!!!

Could someone give me the best way to get close to 2 ohms on this? How many wraps using what gauge wire?

Just thought I would point out that unless you have a very high wattage device, a dual coil build at 2 ohms is gonna give you terrible performance. Each coil is gonna be a whole 4 ohms.

20 ML Kayfun search is over. I didn't think much of it when I saw FastTech https://www.fasttech.com/p/1765001
I bought it just because it was cheap $24.56
Turns out it is a very well made 29.8mm Kayfun Lite Plus that actually holds 20 ML Who would have thought.
Regular size Kayfun deck and chimney.

From left to right:

1. My oldest original Kayfun 3.1 ES --------- 4.5ml
2. EHPro Kayfun 3.1 Clone -------------------4.5ml
3. HCigar Kayfun 3.1 Clone ------------------4.5ml
4. FastTech 30mm Kayfun Lite----------------10ml
5. ToBeCo 28.5mm Kayfun Lite---------------15ml
6. FastTech 29.8mm Kayfun Huge Lite Plus -20ml

Noticing your deck is much different than either my V4+ or V4.1 foggers. Have you modified the deck yourself or is that a different version, clone or different model completely? Looking at other V4 original foggers they don't have such short posts either so just curious.

Isn't it the Big Fogger?

350ZMO removed the negative post which is threaded into the base with a .25 mm thread. Then just use an extra .25 mm fill screw to just attach the negative coil leads there on the floor. I did that also on my build attempt and that part worked out well. Also You need to as someone else mentioned, wrap one coil CW and one coil CCW to come up with best lead configuration. Even with those refinements it is difficult with a large coil on a version 4.4. It would be much easier on a Big Fogger or a version 4.3. But then there's still (for me) the wicking problems!

AMD, How is the airflow on the Big 20ML? I am so tempted to get a device I can fill with my DIY and get through the day without a fill? I still have not invested in a 26650 though? I did put a few requests in with our fav MFGs to make a Stingray X in 26650! The Cana with a airflow spacer or the new IPV should take a big atomizer like that though? Do you prefer the Big Kayfun over the Big Fogger?

Yeah I realized that after, I built at 1.4 ohms and its already pretty slow.... Rethinking this idea...

The Airflow is like in any regular or oversized Kayfun Lite Plus. The side hole could be drilled a little bit larger but not much because the air hole is off center of the base, it is closer to the top of it. Plus, there is limitation of the Center Stud hole that is the part of the airflow. I don't take lung hits, therefore the airflow is good enough for me.
Big Fogger, on the other hand has much larger dual air flow and two coils. It hands down produces more vapor. But it only holds 8.0 ml. My ToBeCo 28.5mm Kayfun Lite that holds 15 ml lasts me full two days plus.
Bu if I were you (not an impulsive shopper like me) I would go ahead and get EHPro Big Buddha pictured below:
It is designed for dual coil and has adjustable dual airflow and glass tank $44.99.

One more thing:

If you buy this: https://www.fasttech.com/products/0...-replacement-tank-for-30mm-kayfun-lite-kayfun You could put it on your existing regular size Kayfun to get 30mm.

Yes yes! Sorry for your wicking problems. I notice the air holes on the BIG are smaller and the juice channels are larger than on the V4 and V4+.

Different builds yield different vape experience. I purposely aim for low peak coil temperature and slow rise because I like long forceful draws in succession that yield cool wet dense airy vapes. Amount of vapor is less important to me though with these builds I get plenty for my liking.

If you are aiming for a different vape experience, this is not the build method to use.

I just did a BIG like this, currently on an SX350 and am getting the vape experience I am looking for at 3.64V 12W at 1.1 ohms with AFC wide open. The SX300 won't regulate down far enough for this build with AFC wide open.

What's important is you find what works for you and keeps you off analogs.

It's also fun to experiment!

Well, I nearly went back to my gennies after trying this one. At first I Was stoked looking at the build quality ! But for some reason it just wasn't working for me at all.
I Kept getting dry hits, and bad tastes. This was a shame as I love the style !

Two days later I've hit the nail on the head and got it working ! Still prefer my gennies for simplicity but the kayfun is a complete blast for vape production, and the taste is superb ! Never mind the fact that the tank holds a huge amount of liquid :)

It actually depends on your personal preferences. Some people (myself included) use Kayfun style and some (Tbev for example) use Aqua style. This new 4.4, I almost built Tbev style because it has larger juice channels but still ended up building it Kayfun style anyway. Its been sitting on my desk since last night. I don't see any signs of leaking.
I think the way I do it I get better Airflow, you know how your draw gets tighter in a kf when it's stuffed with too much wick, same thing, I want just enough wick to keep it from leaking. I've never tried kf style but I'll check it out. But ways are getting the job done so vape on!
