I'm sure he's pulled out the transportable machine shop he keeps in the back of his truck and bored the holes out to a half inch in diameter or something equally crazy.
Love his mad machining skills. Wish I had the tools and ability to mod things like that. The extent of my abilities is to use my Dremel tool tool to polish Nemesis and Stingray switches.

Guess because I'm happy around 0.8 ohms and not a lung hitter I just read and discarded the airflow discussion because I actually use mine with a slightly reduced setting. For example: "Stainless steel is hard and Carbide bit is going to be used..." -WRONG!!! "With a hand drill" - EVEN WRONGER!!!
"Cutting an Airflow Control Ring will increase Airflow" - WRONG!!! Don't believe me? Just try vaping with it completely removed and see how your airflow will not increase.
The "Bottleneck is in your Airflow horizontal holes, drilling them will, actually get you airier draw. But, for your sake, do not use Carbide drill bit.

Nice! I did the same thing to my AFC ring when I first got my 4.2, but it didn't make a difference. Those style notches were manditory after I over-sized the horizontal air holes.
Does the inside of your ring look like mine or is there a bevel to let air slip by? As you can see with the ring on mine there is no bevel, the threads are to the edge. It makes a big difference with this one, as you can see half the hole is completely covered. Yes drilling the holes larger without touching the ring would give more flow but you would still end up with half the hole covered, just a larger half of a hole. I'm not saying this is right or wrong, just what I did to give me the air flow I was looking for. Like my buddy use to say, If I'm happy I'm happy.

I'll have to agree,may not be the right way,but definitely looks like it will work,i will be doing mine as well.When i first got my fogger,i thought it was too airy,so i kept the ring half way closed.Now after vaping on the orchid for a week,the fogger seemed to be waay to tight of a draw,as the orchid is a really airy draw,and i have gotten used to that,so the fogger has been sitting the past few days.Tonight i decided to rewick it,and while i was at it,decided to remove the afc just to see the difference,and wow it is very close to what i have gotten used to with the orchid now,way better than it was,but it looks funny without the ring,and seeing the threads,so i think the way you did it will be perfect.Still have wide open flow,be able to cover the threads,and still have the ability toadjust it down if needed,i dont think it can get better than that.I think with a bit of filing and finish work,it could be made to look like it came from the factory like that.
Well I must point out and give credit to AMDTrucking, he pointed out in his post yesterday --> http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ystems/545703-fogger-v4-267.html#post13949578 at least some versions of these Foggers have smaller air feed holes then the horizontal holes and drilling the feed holes to match will allow more air flow. But if your ring is like mine with the threads to the edge (and it sounds like it is because you also found increased air flow with the ring removed) you'll still have half the hole covered, just larger half of a hole, but it will increase the air flow.
Research your version, see what other have to say and do what you think best, mine mod is one option that I went with and it solved the problem on mine.
I believe back pages and pages someone posted pics of the airflow adjustment ring. But it was the threaded style which was the V4.1 to V4.2 change. That's most likely when they added the half bevel to it. I only have V4.3 and V4.4 and it has been mentioned that although it appears that the hole in the base is half covered it really makes no difference between fully opened and removed.They must have improved the design on the 4.2
When I build my fogger, I only screw the air ring down to the top of the air hole, then I screw on the bottom part of the tank section, so none of the air hole is covered, I can't adjust the air flow, as it tightens the ring, but I like it wide open all the time anyway![]()
I appreciate the credit. After playing with my five Foggers (V4.2, V4.3, V4.4 and two Big Foggers) for some time, IMO, the best way to increase the airflow would be:
1. Drill the horizontal airholes to at least an equal size as the vertical holes, which is 2.4 mm.
2. Shave the bottom of the Airflow Ring in it's entirety, not just two notches. Because when the ring turns - it will come out of alignment with your holes and you know how easy does it turn. I found #2 step to be unnecessary because that ring does not seal the holes. It may look like it is obstructing your holes, but the air comes from every which way around the ring into the hole. I fond it to be enough for my style of vaping. YMMV.
