I think it's really cool that there's so much interest in folding@home. If you're serious about it, consider buying a Playstation 3. The CELL processor that's in it is designed to process this type of number crunching more efficiently than typical multi-purpose laptop processors. I make this claim based on the number of ps3s contributing to the folding@home project vs. the amount of folds that have been processed. There's a link on the site to compare. Don't ask me where though; I haven't been to the site in months
Wow I'm surprised, I'm running a phenom 945, with foh using 3 cores and I can still run an mmo, chat with video and multiple websites without the least bit of slowdown. My cpu heat never goes above 68 either.
