Aka flashlight tubes with silver or golf plated contacts. Which is great but i just saw a silver plated mechanical mod from china for 10 dollars shipped !

I've got a challenge for you. Design a mech mod; aka flashlight tube w/ a good switch. Establish a manufacturing business in your home state. Double the China price to $20. Tell me how how your profits are.

The only justification I could see would be based on manufactring process (milled V. cast) and how hard of a metal were used. A cast item, and/or with a softer metal, in comparison with an item that is made with a harder metal and/or milled is not going to be the same price (or have the same value). That's before even taking into consideraton insulators and screws.

Why do people buy name brand food at the grocery store. Corn is corn, right? The real answer is, sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't. I would be interested to see what generic food/clothes/furniture/etc. the people own or eat that don't see the need for high end mods. I would venture to guess they don't buy generic in too many other aspects of life.

It is the same reason my dad owns a pair of shoes that cost him almost $200 dollars but I am fine wearing a $60 pair. Or my wife that buys the name brand purse for $300 when you can get them at WalMart for $10.

I think people do it because they want to live their lives. Why do so many get hung up on the least common denominator? I've never stepped foot in Walmart, and I'm quite proud of it! If you choose to fill your life with cheap crap, go for it... but please don't try to make the rest of us live in that hole! Every time in lift my Provari I get a little bit of satisfaction. Don't get angry if you can't take it from me.

I completely agree. I don't understand it either, I wouldn't mind paying so much for a mod if I knew it performed well. Just this morning I wanted to compare a co-worker's $200 Authentic AR mech vs my $25 Sentinel clone. I used the same RDA with same build and same battery, only difference being the mod. My sentinel incredibly outperformed his AR and I now tease him about his $200 paperweight ;) :vape:

Thaikick - good points and i agree with you - well said argument- just keep in mind that as i stated already the post was kinda geared towards newcomers or families who think they need to extend their budget in the ecig world or that they feel they are missing out if they don't own a 200 mech mod to have a great vape.

I'm with ya Koudotal

Alchemy - so you dont use anything apple ? Iphone ipad - all assembled in china ?

Its a battery tube fellows - no more no less. Yes we should absolutely support innovator inventors manufacturers like zna , provape/provari, reo (off topic as 2 of the 3 aren't mechs) - quality, warranties, workmanship, innovation.

I own two Reos and a Provari .

That might seem like a lot to spend to some folks but I see them more as a tool I use everyday vs just my e-cig.I want to have set ups I know will last me for years instead of cheap set ups.

I spent quite a bit of money and time going thru cheap set ups until I got these devices and since then I have never had a issue with any of them and know they will last .I would rather spend more one time and know what I own will work right and last me :2c:

I own a ProVari. I bought it because I wanted something I could depend on.
I bought authentic Kanger ProTanks, authentic Kanger MT3's, and two authentic Youde AGA Tiamats (one of them even has an IBTanked glass tank tube)!

Oddly enough, my Kayfun Lite + clone outperforms all my "authentic" attys. I didn't buy an authentic one because they weren't in stock when I wanted one. I might get a real one someday...or I could use the money to buy four more clones while they work the bugs out of the real one. What are they on now, version 4? Kayfun 3.1, Kayfun Lite, Kayfun Lite + (Which totally stole ideas from the Russian 91%...I'm not sure how I should feel about that).

I enjoy collecting the high end stuff. I have been vaping since December 2013 and have spent a small fortune on my gear and am not stopping any time soon. It is a hobby for me. Collecting the high end, hard to find items is enjoyable. Isn't that the point of working? After you pay your bills, take care of the necessities and save for retirement aren't you supposed to spend your money on things you like and bring you joy? I think so.

Some people vape solely not to smoke. For them the high dollar items would be a waste. Others, like me, enjoy the hunt and the collectable nature of the hobby.

I can buy a 250 dollar mod or I can buy a 50 dollar mod. You won't know the difference, but I will.

How many afghani children has your wife produced? Does it not bother you that she is doing this? And by the way, selling children is illegal in the first place.

Im still cleaning soda off my monitor

Small runs cost a fortune, then theres the development hmn a pipe how can we enhance a threaded pipe.
That takes days maybe months to fully diagram what the finished product will look like.
Huge cost for small runs is why I think they cost so much.. Engineering switches and pipes

Without the authentic mods, there would be no clones. The high cost reflects the premium that is attached to designing, manufacturing, and producing a device to a high standard in the United States, using high-quality materials and in small quantities. You also have to factor in the fact that the high cost starts when these devices come out and bring something "new" to vaping. The first hybrid mods for example. Zen standards going for 500$+ way back when, now you can buy a clone that does the same thing for cheaper. Does that mean the Zenesis wasn't worth the cost? If it wasn't for the Zenesis and all the other unique devices and atomizers that get cloned, we wouldn't have any nice mods at all. There would be nothing around for them to clone. Can I also mention that the clones usually take time to come out, so you are also paying a premium to be the first to use a new mod.

Then again.....if the only "design innovation" your new mod has is a different engraving and serial number this is something else entirely, and should be priced accordingly.

TDLR: Innovation costs money to produce and should be fostered; Copies cost a lost less and have nothing new and come out after the thing they are copying has already been improved upon.

It's no different than really expensive golf clubs, sports cars, luxury cars, 7,000 square foot houses and anything "expensive". Especially when you view it as a hobby. I know I have spent tons of money on cars and houses that most people wouldn't understand. I like cars, I like to have a nice house. I see both sides though. I buy all Chinese gear for vaping. Most of my hobbys are done that way. If you cant get the best, get the best for the price you are willing to pay.

If you think a high end device is worth the asking price and you can afford it, by all means, buy it...

If you think a high end device is worth the asking price, but available money is short, save up for it and then buy it...

If you think a high end device is worth it, but you still can't (for whatever reason) wrap your mind around spending that amount of $$$ on an e-cig, opt for a clone or for a lower end, original, massed produced device instead...

If you think a high end device is not worth the asking price, dont buy it...opt for a clone or a lower end original, massed produced device instead...

Different people have their own reasons for what the need or want....someone else's reasons need not be yours....buy what you want and be happy with your choices...it's your money...

Pretty simple....

I get what yr all saying, quality is important, food should be high quality, your car should be high quality, your wife's purse should be high quality, but we're talking here about a steel tube with a button.
No fancy electronics, no clockwork mechanics, just a tube with a button.

Someone said the original is going to last a lifetime, but let's face it, yr going to buy a new mod next month anyways.
