I'm thinking about switching from tube mods and tanks to a REO, but what some opinions on size. If you have both, which do you find yourself carrying more on a daily basis. I'm talking pocket carry, not purse/bag carry. I don't want to have a big bulge in my pocket (insert joke here).

How does it compare to carrying a tube mod? I guess I'm wondering about the shorter, boxie configuration vs the long skinny tube.

Thanks guys/gals.

i only have a Grand. there's a sticky in the Reo subforum that contains pictures of the various models for comparison.

i found the pictures maddening however. the pic of the mini next to a Bic lighter made the mini look tiny. but then the pic of the mini next to the Grand made it look like the mini wasn't all that much smaller.

so i punted and got a Grand

My thoughts exactly. I went through that thread and while the pictures are nice, most are comparing reo to reo, which doesn't help much if you don't have one. I'm thinking the mini 2.1 & the rm2 is the way to go. I've been using 18490 in most of my tubes anyways, so batt life shouldn't be a problem.

I can't compare as I only have a grand HOWEVER I went from a ZMax to a grand and it's MUCH easier, I sometimes stick my Grand in my back pocket but as a photog a lot of stuff gets shoved in my back pocket so what doesn't bother me might bother you. The grand to me is almost the size of a pack of kings, maybe a little smaller.

It can, in part, depend on whether male or female because so few womens' clothes have proper pockets. As you mentioned "purse" I assume you are of the female persuasion. For most work around the house and outside work I wear pretty heavy cook's bib aprons, with big deep pockets (white so I can bleach them and chlorine doesn't leave ugly spots) so any sized REO will fit. Mostly only my cotton work shirts have pockets. I prefer any sized Mini for shirt pocket carry. The Mini 2.x are more hefty due to larger/heavier battery so I prefer the Mini 1.0 for lighter weight shirts. My work shorts have shallow pockets so the Mini 1.0 works best with them. Most of my light weight sweaters, that have pockets, do best with Mini 1.0. Again it is the weight factor due to difference in weights of battery for Mini 1.0 and 2.x. The yoga style cotton knit pants I wear year round, heavier in winter, have pretty shallow front slant pockets. Mini x.x do better in them. I gained some weight a few years ago, illness and medicine, and refuse to buy any more jeans till I lose it all so can't comment on women's jeans. (Okay, I did buy a pair at Costco a few weeks ago but there is no room to comfortably carry a REO in a pocket.)

Welcome to REOville. Hope this helps a little.

I've had the standard sized Provari and GGTS, traded for REOs, still have Vmax, 2 X Infinity Pro, Buzz Pro, Roughstack long and short, a couple more slim Tube mods, Micro Mini GLV and DH uses Twist and Spinners with Mini VIVi Novas that work better in his overstuffed shirt pocket but he's always dropping them out of pocket when he bends over to pet the shorter dogs..... and those batteries don't hold up well to dropping or sleeping/sitting on in recliner or an airplane seats.....

None of those travel, carry, stash, etc, nearly as conveniently as REOs nor hold up to the rigors that REOs are subjected to.

Being a female I use my purse to hold my Grand, but commented because i do notice bulges if they are large and rounded, I would never stare at a box bulge. haha, you said big bulge :D

The box bulge will not be mistaken for a tube type bulge, amirite

{edit} quoted the wrong quote. And hilarious more2.

Thanks for clarifying and this thread you started can be benificial for females, too. I sometimes wear heavy "cargo" type pants (heavy enough to stop most venomous snake bites; but wear chaps over them in areas where I might encounter large Rattlesnakes where I have to traverse "blind." )If your designated REO pocket is fairly deep might I recommend the Grand. It has larger bottle and larger, more amps battery. I like to keep REO very easily reached without having to unbutton or mess with velcro closures when I want to vape especially when wearing gloves.

Also I'd like to recommend the Silver Anodized finish for rough condition as they don't show dings, gouges, scratches. More than likely you will want another REO once you use your first. That's when you can get the really fun colors.

Thanks for the color recommendation. I have to say it doesn't matter if we're talking cars or mods, I always gravitate towards black. Right now I have a black BMW and a black 4Runner. Every time I wash them I tell myself "Self, I will never buy a black car again". They show ever nick and scratch. Before you said that I was going with the black wrinkle finish, and I had it in my cart. I'll bet after a short period of time I would have been kicking myself, just like with the cars. You saved me a major headache there. :toast:

Actually I said pants, not purse b/c I'm a guy. I wear cargo style pants with a lot of pockets, but I typically have a lot on me at any one time.

Ohhhhhhhhh, cargo pants . . . . . . Grand.

I do Grand in "khaki"/"dockers" pockets. Mostly prefer shirt pocket though. What I really wanna say is, battery performance !!! For me it was a no-brainer, because I need the high discharge ratings found only in 18650s.

Do you really carry a grand in your shirt pocket? Seems like all that weight would be uncomfortable. Doesn't it stick out?

The Grand may be a little heavy for a shirt pocket, but it's about the size of a business card, so I fits down in a shirt pocket really well....only the atty would stick out. If you vape more than 3ml/day, you'll probably want the Grand. It's not that much bigger than the Mini, and the extra juice capacity and battery capacity are well worth it. Otherwise, you'll have juice and spare batteries in another pocket anyway. The Grand is the workhorse of the group. The Mini is adorable, the Mini 2.1 is nearly perfect, but still has a 3ml bottle, the VV Grand is my favorite, but really too tall to be all that pocket friendly (I carry it in my purse.) I daresay whatever you order, you'll be surprised when you get it...it'll be smaller than you thought. Pictures are deceiving.

My rough environment REOs are all Silver Anodized. Little scratches, even fine, nearly microscopic scratches in highly glossy powder coating bugs me. (It's okay for my house that the dogs let us live in is dusty and dirty, or wallpaper stripped by naughty puppies, or puppy chew marks on valuable antiques, or leather sofa cushions destroyed by puppies..... but marks/dings/scratches on my REOs, no matter how tiny, really bother me. I have an arsenal of oil based model paints and glossy and buff gun black pens for touching up dinged REOs. I love black, too, and DH always likes my mostly black clothes, but colors are fun. I think I have just about every REO production in Purple (but only one powder coated Purple, a VVG) and every color, in multiple styles from early to right before all the powder coating variations, and I have a few of the powder coats and I've seen and inspected most of the new colors....... and I love them all...... and some are not capable of looking pristine, with normal use except for the Silver Anodized.

Silver Anodized can be magnificent in it's simplicity and dressed up with colored doors, RBAs, DTs, stickers, etc.

What I was meaning to say, at beginning of this post, is that our Silver Anodized now out number my Purples and they all look pristine unless closely examined.
