Flavors are so cheap I say get a bunch! Lol. Have fun. But just do 3 ml batches always at first try! Chances are it will take several tries to get the flavor you really like but don't let it discourage you! And don't taste it for a week! :) there are methods for shortening the steeping process like setting the bottle in a cup of real warm water for a little while but I've never done that. I can't Imagine it would steep the same but I dunno. I make a 60 ml bottle of my main juice and when I get down to 30 ml of it, I make another 60 ml to steep.

I'm pretty new to DIY, and I have found the super concentrates very easy to work with, from both vaping Zone and ecigexpress flavors express line. You only need 2.5% flavouring, my favourites are, from VZ blackberry, manderin, and strawberry from Ecigexpress pear and Apricot. Capella's flavors have also been really good, cinnamon Danish swirl, waffle, and strawberries and cream I have been between 6-9% on those, still finding my sweet spot. For me, TPA/TFA flavouring had a perfumery taste, even after steeping, but so many people like those flavours, I'm sure that I am ananomoly.

Good luck.

Thanks! I have some flavors in mind that I want to try but I wasn't sure which brand to start with. I've had the same kinda issues with purchased juice smelling like perfume for wayyyy to long so ill keep that in mind for sure!

Awwwh thanks for the welcome FogHog! And thanks DJ! I think that'll be what I try first as well! I'm trying to narrow down a couple of starter flavors too. I've been wanting to try the sweet cream from MBV anyway and DJ said its a good addition to a lot of liquids anyway so I'm sure ill be trying that. I'd also like to see how it works with coffee flavors since I can't seem to find a good coffee vape. I'm excited! I know I can vape the unflavored but I'm addicted to my flavors but it'll be a good way not to waste good juice when I'm sick or my taste buds are acting funky.

AND NOW THE BIG QUESTION::What kind of tank are you useing?
If its not glass like the Kanger Pro or a RBA you might break you tanks with some flavors,Read this that I found on the mount Baker web site

Don't encourage me! Lol! DJRR already knows I have a vapemail addiction lol! It's gonna be awesome to not have to wait for the mailman to bring me my juice when I start to run low! Ill be able to control my own steeping so that I'm not worried about running out of my favorites!

I love cinnamon based juice so I learned the hard way when I first began vaping! That lil plastic clearo looked sooo sad as it was melting :( I'm addicted to cartotanks! They're all either glass or polypro.

The alcohol is mainly for people who use straight VG. VG is so thick, it needs to be cut with something to thin it. The PG/VG without nic is so you can adjust the mix the way you like it. I like between 75 to 80% PG, and 20 to 25% VG.

Wow! Thanks for all of the great info guys! I spent a couple hours last night playing around with the juice calculator & watching some videos! I definetly think I was making it more complicated in my mind than it actually is. Sorry...I tend to do that! I've got my grocery list started & think that I'm going to start off with a 36mg nic base. That way I can continue to cut it down if I need too. My only question now is why does the ejuice calculator give a % for pg/vg without nic & a % for VG or alcohol?

Thanks! That explains it! I was soooo lost on that one. I usually do a 70/30 pg/vg mix. I've tried some 50/50 but it usually didn't have enough flavor for me but the vapor was great. And I hated that vendors would let you do extra flavor shots but I had no idea what to expect the flavor to be like unless I'd already tried it on a previous order. I messed up an order big time when I first started vaping by adding too many flavor shots. I'm really digging the fact that ill eventually be able to play around with my pg/vg mix but still get all the flavor that I want too!

Lol! We're in the same boat Crocky! I think I'm gonna try the premixed base from MBV first & just add my own flavors & then I'm going to venture into doing all the mixing myself. I'm starting to feel a little less scared with everyone's help. I've been playing around with the e juice calculator so I can kind of know what I'm doing when the time comes. Or atleast I hope ill know what I'm doing.

I highly recommend the eJuiceMeUp Calc also, and use the heck out of it for a while till you understand how it all comes together. And Ask Questions.

I make a Brandy Cotton Candy that I like a lot.
The attached file, save and rename it !My-Brandy.rec and put in the eJuiceMeUp Calc folder and open it in the calc.
I also steep my juices in a water bath (not a boil) (only bring the water to a temp around 120* to 140* in a mug or bowl then put my 10ml or 15ml bottle in there (careful about using glass, some glass might crack at those temps) also, you don't ahve to maintain that temp, just let it sit, the temp will drop gradually, but that is ok, might still be hot when you go to remove it, so be careful) let it sit for about 20min to 30min, then take out and shake like crazy, I then let it sit and cool on it's own, or for a day or so. But I have found that some do need at minimum a week to get really good. Then vape it. The brandy cotton candy doesn't really need that long to steep. But an RY4 I make does need at minimum a week+.

Also, I never go by drops. Never use drops for recipes unless you figure out exactly how many drops are equal to 1ml for that particular flavoring with a specific syringe. Drops are extremely inaccurate method of measuring. Especially when measuring NIC Juice, always go by the ml's never drops.

However, you can use a guesstimate using drops when tweaking or adding flavor to something you have already created or something you buy that you want to make better. This is where it is ok to use drops. And generally, you may not have to let it steep again, but I would still give it a day or so. This is all the very artsy side of flavoring, and depends largely on what you like.

So, why do I steep in a water bath? ,, because the juice will thin out at those temps and then when you shake the hell out of it, will help it mix better.

Everyone has their own ways of doing things, and steeping is no exception.
My water bath may be completely unnecessary, but I do it anyway cause it seems logical to me to get things mixed well and possibly speed things along a bit. But I could be wrong.

Just remember to shake everything before using it. Flavoring and especially NIC Juice.

There are a ton of threads on everything I have mentioned here and I recommend reading through them.

just keep in mind that a lot of this is magic theory with a lot of trial and error, and a whole lot of opinions.

The only major constant (Basic General Rules) is the use of NIC juice in general with mg per ml, and the over all percentage of flavor per ml (which is generally 20% to 25% unless it is a super concentrate or double flavoring, but even that will be subjective to your personal taste), never go astray from that, and you should be fine.

Hope this was helpful.

PS: Also play around with the NIC Combine feature of the calc, it will help a lot understanding ratios of no flavor NIC juice and PG/VG adding,, you can leave out the NIC level on lines 2 and 3 to play around with what you will get by adding PG or VG by itself.

The last note is, some flavors are stronger than others and some flavors will not taste right if too little or too much. Trial and Error will make a difference, and if you are going to start, try making them with no NIC juice and see what they taste like to save wasting NIC juice. You can always compensate if needed after adding NIC juice when the flavor is right.

ejuicemeup is the best calc. that i have seen.. when i first sarted i went with 100mg nic in 100% pg from ecx.,vg from wallmart and pg also from ecx.. to me it was easier with the 100mg nic. i have not had any luck finding pg localy.. i did buy some from the wallgreens pharmacy one time but if was pricy !!! i stoped useing wallmart vg and now buy it from the local nutrition shop.

science aside- if can cook this will be an easy process I have found. the ejuicemeup calc has an option to print a card, then the mixing with syringes and graduated cylinders is just like following a cake recipe- 1ml of this, 14ml of that.

I just got my supplies and started today, I found it fun and easy. I started with 5ml sample bottles and played with flavor %s after getting baselines off of other threads here at ECF-- so much good info can be netted from the pros on this site.

after I did 3-4 sample runs I made some 30ml bottles. I am vaping on my MVP a 18mg 70/30 LA Cherry at 20% that I did myself, and its great.

the Lorann's thread in the DIY section here suggested starting the cherry at 15% (I did on my test bottle of 5ml) then amped up the flavor at 20%

All of my supplies including the nic, pg, vg came from My Freedom Smokes
