Uncle - I understand what you say, but my problem is that, in order to be able to observe a rule, I need first to understand it. For this to happen, a complete comunication of that rule needs to take place. Yet we're looking here at a secret list of words. On top of it, the list is dynamic, so I cannot even learn by trial and error.
If you re-read my comments, you may notice that I was looking for clarification, not a contesting of the rules.
I agree, but Retired already hinted that, "We'll most likely remove it in the future." So there. This is a new platform, work in progress, you know. We provide feedback and requests, ECF is responding... Everything is still fluid. Look on the bright side. Some things can't be changed because the platform doesn't support them, fine. Others are judgement calls. Hey, we got the pretty shading, the location and join date are back, the problem with conversations has been fixed. The forum is working. I would still prefer to have that orange supporting member badge turned into a ribbon and the user names placed above the avatar; I'm not a fan of the mood indicator thingy (it eats up real estate and provides no relevant information to anyone, really); and I'd rather return to the blue color scheme for the entire forum, but those are minor things--annoying but not lethal.
So I decided to be grateful for what we've got so far and just hope that someday, maybe, those other things will change, too. I'm picking my battles--and saying thanks to ECF for all their efforts to date.
God, give me grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.
