Found a good how-to on filling and priming carto tanks

...as she is filling from below with the carto pulled up into the tank. The flange that Smoktech uses in their cartomizers prevents this from being possible.

She's filling from the top of the tank, with the carto about 75% of the way in...

All points you make are valid, Baditude. Anytime you can have more control over what you're doing is a good thing! In regards to the tank tools, I've had a 6ml smoktech delrin tank that I've used for almost a year with no problems with that o-ring (or any others for that matter). I'm either really good, or really lucky, mostly the latter. I will fill cartos in the future using the methods you've described. If you're like me, one dry hit kills the carto, and it's a shame to waste good juice!

Thrillcaptain, I just re-viewed the video that you shared, and I agree, she is indeed filling from the top. I got your video confused with one someone had asked me about the same day; this one that Phiniac recommends for their tanks which shows a fill from below method: How to Fill Up a Phiniac Pyrex Tank - YouTube.

So my mistake, and my appologies to the Thrillcaptain for my inaccurate comments.

No worries, Baditude. How are things in Cincy? I grew up in C-bus, and my shoulder still hurts thanks to a St. X linebacker....

Do you recommend the Slap Yo Mama over other tank tools? I'm fairly sure I can't find a tool locally, and if I'm ordering one I only want the one...:)
Things are cool here in the Queen City. Many of us Greater Cincinnatians are anxiously awaiting our first brick and mortar vape shop and lounge (Altsmoke) in the next month or so. It will be great to gather and socialize with other vapors in the area and possibly form some social networks for work or play.

I have the Siam Mods tank tool (sold by Phiniac and other vendors) and the Slap Yo Moma. I think the latter is by far the better designed one. There are others on the market that have mimicked its design and sold theirs for less, but I would still purchase another SYM tool if I would lose it. It's the best vaping-related device that I use daily besides my Provari.

Just have to say, that dude in the OP vid looks a bit like Ruxin.

Now I just wish he gave the instructions in a Ruxin-esque way.

I often recommend CE3's for testing sample flavors for people who don't like to direct drip (like me). But using those requires filling them with a tiny needle and syringe, which turns some people off from the get go.

Can you tell me a little more about using the ce3's for trying out juice. What is the advantage?

Thanks

Convenient for those vapors who don't drip to taste flavors. They only hold 1 ml, perfect for testing a flavor. They are clear to be able to see the juice. Inexpensive: typically under $10 for a 5-pack. And best of all, unlike a cartomizer, they have no polyfill that can retain previous flavors. These are re-usable: just remove the current flavor, rinse, and refill with the next.

Downside: Most of these require a tiny needle/syringe (often included in the pack) to add/remove juice.

There is the newer Nano clearomizer which I have now switched to to test flavors. Same size and shape, but filling is accomplished by just removing the top and filling like a clearomizer, taking care not to get liquid into a center hole in the post. Nice flavor and vapor production.

I got my Nano's from Discount Vapors. These are a little more expensive than the ce3's @ $3-4 each, but their ability to be filled without a syringe more than makes up for the increased price.

As a follower of Batitudes. (Bows to the Man of Tanks). I've finally found that the thermoter shake is the best way for me. Actually there are drip tips,(some called Cannon tips and others called Unicorn). They are very slim in the middle and work great for fill a carto tank. After it's primes properly. I've had to teach co-workers on how to fill and prime a carto and this is the method I prefer. (Hate to admit it but I even stopped using the thingy from IBT.) With the thermoter shake I know how much to put in. For a 35mm it's around 20-25 drops. Works everytime and I've not burned a carto since I started doing this. The drip tips I'm refering to cost around $4 usd. The slap yo mamma I got was over $13. But anything to save my "O" rings is worth it for me.

If you are into experimentation, you can make your own Slap Yo Momma tool with a spare delrin drip tip and a stainless steel 10 penny nail. I just ground down the mouth piece end of a spare delrin drip tip to a point, then cut off a 10 penny stainless steel nail to 3/4 inch, leaving the flat end at the top. I forced the blunt end of the nail into the pointed end of the delrin tip and there you have it an ugly replica of the Slap Yo Momma for less than the price of a drip tip and a nail, but it works great.
