Congratulations!

I was a 2-3 PAD smoker for (my goodness) 28 yrs. This is the first time I've ever enjoyed being a non-smoker.

You're gonna love this! Everyone here is amazingly kind and helpful.

My sincerest advice -- vape all you want! There are no rules, and you're A Non-Smoker! Of course, watch out for light-headedness and such. If only to keep from falling and banging your noggin on something.

Good luck! Enjoy! Welcome!

I was a PAD full flavor smoker. Took 3ml of 24mg per day to quash the cravings. I think your usage sounds a little low, rather than high. Just monitor yourself and make any adjustments that you need. You'll get it.

On another topic, lots of people need tobacco flavor juice to replace cigs, but for a fair number of us, tobacco flavors make us crave the "real" thing. You will figure out what group you are in.

So the bottom line is to get samples of different flavors and different strengths, and have fun trying them all.

Congratulations!

Congrats!
To the OP:
I found that at first I was vaping with the same frequency and intensity as when I smoked analogs and that sometimes gave me the symptoms you describe.
However after a while the whole experience kind of changes, its a more mellow and less intense kind of "smoking"
Throughout the day I just seem to need a few slow drags every now and again, that way I don't experience that rush of nic into the body.
You will find your "sweet spot" in terms of nic level and frequency, it is quite a transition, enjoy!

@mlinky "So the bottom line is to get samples of different flavors and different strengths, and have fun trying them all."

I think this says it all, thanks mate.

Been busy placing a few orders tonight and will have fun over the next few weeks working out what works for me both flavour and strength wise.

Had a few cravings tonight, but I'm not bloody cracking now.

Here's to a smoke-free future :2cool:

Hi Rodney and welcome to the wonderful world of vaping.

I must admit (to my shame) this is the first time I've dropped in here in a very long while but I've been really delighted to see that other folk are still taking very good care indeed of newcomers, as a fellow vaper of over 2 years now I'd say all the advice that has been given here is first-rate.

Take it at your own pace and if you 'weaken' and have a 'real one' don't beat yourself up about it. Use your e-cig as much or as little as you wish to keep yourself comfortable. Finding your own preferred nicotine juice strength is a very personal matter and varies greatly from one individual to another, which is why it is quite difficult to provide definitive advice to a new vaper; people aren't being evasive!

I really do hope you will continue to enjoy vaping but must admit my primary reason for posting this was that I noted your mention of your profession: Journalist! You may be in a position to contribute to "spreading the word" in a way that most of us can't and sadly there's been an awful lot of nonsense and misinformation kicking around in 'the media' to date. If you are spending much time here in ECF you'll soon notice how much this aggravates and disheartens people.

The threat of a bunch of bureaucrats at the MHRA passing ill-considered and possibly corruptly-inspired legislation which could virtually destroy our supply chain via the UK sellers is very real and very scary and has been hanging over our heads like the the proverbial Sword of Damocles for a long time now. The MHRA's own laughable "Public Consultation" document made it very clear just how deep their ignorance about these devices is, while revealing at the same time just how keen they are to deny us access to them.

The term 'unregulated' is used so frequently to describe the e-cig industry that we desperately need help to publicise the fact that this simply isn't true; to date Trading Standards involvement with UK sellers has been perfectly adequate to provide all the regulation most informed vapers feel is necessary. This is the reason the products you have just received from Totally Wicked arrived in fully CHIP-compliant packaging bearing all the required warnings about the dangers of nicotine etc.

If you have a few hours to kill sometime, these threads will put you in the picture:

Sorry if this sounds overly soap-boxy, it is just that the thought of a bunch of seatwarmers apparently trying to force vapers back to smoking cigarettes (or create a new black market for organised crime to leap into) by banning e-cigs simply drives me to distraction!!

I too think that e-cigs are a brilliant, revolutionary product which may well have saved my life. They aren't perfect yet but improving all the time and even at their very worst knock gum, patches and the rest of the pharmaceutical companies products into a cocked hat, where they belong.

@Tetsab

Interesting stuff, and definitely something I can start researching.

This is clearly a thriving sub-culture and doing a lot of people a lot of good, and I will definitely be looking to cover it professionally as my experience grows.

I think the recent Mephedrone / legal drugs hoo-ha hasn't helped, not that that's in any way a valid comparison. I admit I sampled Mephedrone out of simple curiousity a few years ago (much as I first approached e-cigs), and it was in the same ballpark as ....... / .....

However, it does mean there's now a lot of reactionary paranoia around anything that's seen as bypassing medical regulation, and if you want to go further and add a healthy dollop of conspiracy, there is very little benefit to the Treasury if large groups of people stop buying cigarettes in times of scarce tax revenue.
