Hi everyone,

I was a closet smoker for about 12 years - sometimes I would smoke with friends, but I hid it from my wife. Bad move, and it was the only real contention in my marriage. I tried to quit a few times, but stress and weakness caused me to cave. A few months ago, I determined to quit and tried vaping for the first time.

It changed everything - I've been able to quit smoking and have no desire to have another cig again.

Anyway, I have a couple 1000Mah ego twists, a couple EVOD clearomizers, and a ProTank. I've been pretty happy with the performance of my gear, and I added a 510 atomizer for sampling flavors.

I want a ProVari. I have the money, but I keep hesitating. I'm under the impression that I will suddenly have a better experience with the ProVari, maybe if its just that I'm holding a quality American made piece.

So my question: are there really any tangible benefits to upgrading to the ProVari?

Thanks!

I can see none.

Well, there is one thing: it is much more durable than the Twist if you have a habit of dropping/ sitting on/ just generally breaking stuff.

But other than that, its not gonna change your vape; no new taste or vapor cloud are gonna magically pop up because of the Provari. The gears you already have are all extremely good and deliver great vapes. Until you become a vape hobbyist (which is not in any way an in evitable destination), save your money and buy something nice for the wife in case one day she finds a cig .... you dropped somewhere before ;)

Yep, you can never go wrong by buying something nice for the wife (but I AM a wife, so maybe I'm a bit biased :D).

Welcome to ECF, and congrats on quitting the analogs!

It also depends on how long you wind up being a vaper. I agree that using a ProVari will not show you any noticeable difference in the vapor you get from a clearo or Protank. If you're planning on vaping for a long while, the ProVari is a wise investment. The product service is excellent should you ever need a repair or chip upgrade (neither of which I have yet needed). They are very durable and reliable devices. And when a battery stops retaining a charge, you buy a new one for <$5.00.

Before I bought my ProVari, I burned away an eGo battery (not a twist), I bought a lavatube that had to be replaced once under warranty and that eventually died after the warranty expired, and had a Revolution v 2.0 juicebox whose charging connector broke, got replaced and then later started leaking at the 510 connection. I have other PVs as well, but I almost exclusively use the ProVari. I can connect just about anything to it, carry it easily and depend on it utterly. I have never regretted its purchase one bit.

Had I known that I would be vaping ~1 1/2 years later, I would have bypassed all of the other PVs I bought and jumped in and gotten my ProVari first.

One is basically disposable- although good for up to 300 charges, when it's dead you throw it away. The other, you replace the batteries.

If you enjoy vaping, I doubt if either will be the last pv that you purchase. I've been using the same APV for over two years and got it used. But I also have twists, spinners, even some mini 510's that I use as well.

Welcome to the club!

Thanks for the kind words folks - seems like an awesome community.

As far as how long I intend to vape - I could see myself doing it for a couple of years. There doesn't seem to be any downside, the health risks seems to be minimal, and the experience overall is really fun. I do notice that the "burnt sugar" smell kinda lingers, and I'm not really sure what to do about that.

I might hop down to the Brick & Mortar to have a fondle of a ProVari - maybe that'll change my mind...

Yep, I agree with these guys and gals. ProVari is a great mod, very well made and very durable but it's not really going to change anything about the vapor that your atty produces. I bought one a couple months back and was really impressed with the build quality. A few days later I got my first mech mod in the mail (a Sigelei#8). A few days after that I traded the ProVari for my second mech mod (an Electric Angel) and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Build quality is excellent and A LOT of people love their ProVari's but it's not the end-all-be-all mod for everyone.

I will say this also... If you do buy one and don't like it you'll be able to sell it for a very very small loss.

That's a compelling reason in itself - allows me to try it out for awhile, and if I don't like it, I can recoup. Knowing myself, however, I won't sell it. I tend to collect things when I get into a hobby.

Welcome d510. I can relate to being a closet smoker. Was one for 6 years myself. Definitely something I'm not proud of. Looks like you have a pretty good set up. If your happy with the quality of your vape, I see no reason to upgrade right now. Just my :2c: . The ProVari sound like a good item tho a bit pricy for my wallet. From what I've read the Vamo is good.

Congrats on giving up the stinkies. Keep on Vaping !! :toast: :vapor:

Lol yeah I'm the same about my hobbies too, usually. I was REALLY surprised I didn't fall head over heels in love with it. The million clicks menu system was the final straw. I'd have kept it if they were a bit less expensive but considering the price and that I was enjoying my $30 VAMO and $35 Sigelei more than the ProVari I had to trade it away.

Whatever you do just don't pay a b&m more than Provape's website price.

Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things to do, but then you already know that. I can't believe you managed to hide it from your wife for 12 years, Wow. If I were you I'd get the Provari, simply because it's what you want. You got the money and you want it, there's nothing more tangible than that. So get it and put a smile on your face, and support an American manufacturer, making a quality product at the same time.

I can't believe you managed to hide it from your wife for 12 years,

It wasn't easy, and she figured it out several times. Each time was a huge fight, followed by impossible-to-hold-to promises, and a general terrible feeling. It's the only thing that was ever wrong in my relationship, and now that I've quit (by my choice), things are amazing.

Hiyah! My first MOd was a provari mini and a vivi nova STV on top. Liked it and built quality is excellent! Im sounding like a fan hehehehe If youre planning to vape as a hobby I would recommend one at some point you might venture on rebuild-able atty and you'll appreciate it more. I prefer the mini satin black not as big as the regular.
But im still new to this aswell so still exploring things :)

Wow that's awesome, I don't think you can do better than amazing, congratulations. I just made my mind up Monday night, to start vaping again, I stayed up all night researching various mods and VV VW devices. Well there aren't any B&M stores in my area, that I'm aware of so I contacted a web site, to verify that they would ship my order that day. They were relocating their physical location and we're closing that afternoon, but promised to process and ship my order TSD. I could have saved $20, if I had ordered from FT, but at 2 packs a day I would've spent WAY more than $200 on analogs waiting 10 days for it to arrive. Anywho my Vamo arrived this morning, well I actually went to the post office and was lucky enough to pick it up @ 8:30am :) No way could I have waited until my normal mail delivery @ 4pm, not with 2 cigarettes left in my last pack and determined not to buy anymore! Anyway my point is, you should treat yourself and get the Provari, I bet it's Amazing! Plus you got the money and you want it. If you have a local B&M, go check it out, and if you spend $20 extra bucks so what. You'll be supporting a local business and an American manufacturer making an amazing product, but most importantly you'll be getting what you want. Amazing Keep us posted now.........

Okay, update. Just got back from the B&M and fondled a ProVari - they were asking $200 for the base model, which is $40 more than the ProVape site right now. I left it on the rack at the B&M and am in the process of placing an order on the ProVape site right now.

Is it the right decision... maybe. The reasons I'm getting a ProVari are:

* Not having to buy another full mod ever again - just replacement batteries.
* The battery-life indicator; going to be awesome.
* The overall build quality of the ProVari is very good. It feels substantial in the hand, and the size is actually a bit shorter than the eGo-Twist that I have now. It is about twice as thick, but the ProTank fits perfect on it. Still going to ride in my front pocket, just like the eGo-Twist setup I have now.
* It's made in America, and I should really support our economy.

** The last reason, while true, is kinda soft.

Cheers guys!
