Ok I've been looking all around for some deals on SS mesh and some kanthal a-1 32 awg. I've got two of these rbas comin from a coop and want to mod them like everyone is doing here. The problem is that I don't want to have to pay for "lifetime" supplies of the mesh and wire until I'm sure I like it. Anyone have any clue where I can purchase just enough to give this a try a couple of times before I commit to them?

No,but guys in France use 200 mesh with high or full VG with success
They must be using it on units with overhead tanks that gravity pulls the juice down. Almost no capillary action in 200 mesh so the juice will not go up. It is a very easy lab experiment. Roll 3 in long wicks from different mesh, put them in a small jar with 2 inches of vg and leave them over night. The next day you can see that the only one the juice has risen is the 400. 500 is even better if you can find it. Basic law of capillary action is the smaller the hole the higher the liquid rises. Doesn't matter if it is PG or VG. Now if you want liguid to flow down, the bigger the holes the bigger the flow (not capillary action) and the harder to control. Hard to put a valve on gravity.

Start with 45mm for the roll and the length as needed. I do 60mm but that takes a lot pf rolling.

This is going to be interesting, lol. I got LONG FAT FINGERS, lol If I get a good one finished I'll VAPE that bad boy till it decentegerates, lol And I'll make SEVERAL at a time, lol

Is there anything wrong with doing a thinner roll? I use the Phx RBA and I use a 20mm roll.. Just wondering cause I was about to order one for myself

Depends on the wick hole, the 45mm is for a 2.5mm diameter hole. IMO the more mesh tightly rolled you can get in a wick the better it wicks (capillary action) and more juice rises.

Silly question... how are you attaching the wires to the screws?

I loosened the screws, looped around the threads two or threes times, then tightened down the screws. Not sure this is good because I just traveled with mine and its acting up a bit...ohms changing again, and I think it may be the posts.

Mesh is working great, no dry hits, I just need to learn coil technique.... :)
