I must be doing something wrong because I dont have leaking rta's and dont get dry hits.
Ive gotta be honest, I just bang in a coil and wick it without being too finicky and precious and on the rare occasion Ive had a problem Ive just opened the tank up and trimmed the wick or packed it out.
Every once in a while if flavour loss or change occurs I open the rta displace the vacuum.
Ive only really been vaping for 16months so none of my rta's are very old but most of then are pretty well made solid little things that should last a long time If I dont get all ham fisted and over tighten or cross thread anything.
I have two rta's that I consider less than clever from a design/function point of view but even they are reasonably put together devices.
As for the yt reviewers, I dont watch them often, most of them with only a few exceptions appear to be boneheads. I feel dumber after watching them. I will read reviews and there are some reviewers whos written reviews say more in a 5minute read than 18minutes of douchery on yt. I think the difference in some cases is the reviewers who write only tend to be more thoughtful and expressive in describing features and functions, more direct and on point. Yt only reviewers just tend to yammer on a bit.

I won an rda in a giveaway which I’m lucky I did because I probably wouldn’t have tried one if I didn’t. I figured I’d set it up and drip (since I didn’t have a squonker) to see if it was any good. As soon as I trimmed the excess rayon and tucked them into the juice well a realization came over me. I thought “holy hell im done.” “I won’t have to put some juice in and see how I did or make any adjustment whatsoever” even though it was the first time building it and I didn’t watch any tutorials to see how it “likes” to be wicked. I felt stupid that I didn’t realize it earlier. I’d always hear folks say they wanted this brand or that to come out with a Squonk mod and I finally understood why. Better flavor, better capacity, and most of all no freaking adjustments after I build it. Having to dump juice or try saving it and making a mess just to get the damn thing to run right. Honestly rta’s seem silly to me now, I don’t want a pain in the ... only to receive, at best, flavor close to an average rda. No thank you, mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Squonk. It’s trampling out the leaking from the $hitty R-TA. We’re saving tons of time not fiddling with this garbage all damn day.

Squonks have gotten better. They’re much harder to oversquonk for one thing thanks to larger diameter attys and silicone bottles and general improved leak resistance. It used to be automobiles were so unreliable they were kind of a joke. This actually used to be a national hit song in the US.

I've coined a new acronym: RCA. That stands for Rebuildable Crap Atomizer. I am now on a streak of four defective rebuidables in two weeks. Two bottom flow RTA's (Geek Vape Ammit Dual, Vandy Vape Kensei), A top flow RTA (OBS Engine II) and a mesh (Digiflavor Themis). The two bottom flow RTA's seem to have the same design defect. They don't leak when cold but, after warming and expanding, unscrewing the fill cap breaks the vacumn and they leak through the bottom airflow. The OBS Engine II shorts out when you fully tighten it (in spite of appropriate coil placement). And the Themis had such a bad bottom cap fit that I couldn't rescrew it once.

And as long as I'm venting ... There may be three million companies selling vape equipment but, its possible that there's only three real manufacturers. The Themis and the Engine II are remarkable similar in appearance, having similar base and internal machine pressed bell chamber. And as to the two bottom flow leakers, there identical defect and and fill cap leads me to the same conclusion.

And, other characters deserving a poke in the eye. Chinese businesses that want pictures and videos before they'll except a return. And how about You Tube reviews? This pack of worthless idiots should suffer unmentionable acts for misleading the public. I think that covers it.

What size coils are you putting in these tanks? What gauge wire? Inner diameter? I hope your not using micro coils. It sounds like you are wicking incorrectly. I wonder if your coils are so small that you are not getting enough cotton in the juice channels to prevent leaking.

I'm going to suggest user error on this too and I'm not sure how yet. But the good news is, that can be fixed and your atomizers are probably fine.

Why don’t you check back in and tell us about the builds and what kind of juice you’re using?

I have a few bottom air tanks that require max vg. Anything else leaks. Usually good reviewers will tell you stuff like that.

They can give specifics on coil id but wicking is a learning curve. Like how much is a lot? How thinned is thin?

Walk us through what you did and we can give you pointers.

Ahh, video review's. Watched one on a tank where the guy says how cool the tank was and how you can chain vape it and get no dry hits. I had that tank but had got dry hits and didn't think it was very good. I watched the video again and really studied the part of him chain vaping and payed attention to the continuity of the video. You could just make out cuts between the puffs. Him chain vaping it was essentially fake.
Nothing I know to do with the OP and possible user error but hey, whilst there's a bit of a rant going on why not join in.

Or buy a Kayfun v4, Prime, or a Taifun GT-IV Only time I get those things to leak is when I forget to close the juice flow before filling. My GT-IV has leaked a little yesterday after I built a 2.5mm ID coil and wicked it lightly. Pulled the wick added a bit more, no avail. Finally realized - "DUH SHTOOPEED! It has juice flow control for a reason! Dial it back a bit."

All RTAs have a design coil. If you put a 2.5mm coil in tank designed for 3mm, it will leak. Put a 3mm coil in one designed for 2mm or 2.5, it will dry hit. Reviews that show how the build is installed and wicked usually show which tank takes what and how to wick it.

My favorite RTAs are all Genisis style, with no juice flow control. Battlestar RTA, Solomon (OG), Bravo, etc. They have no juice flow control other than the wicks themselves. They don't leak.

I didn't start working with RTAs until Sept 2017, but I quickly learned that you get no peace until you do what the tank wants instead of doing what you want with the tank. If the tank you have is built as designed and doesn't do what you want, get one that does what you want when you do what it wants.

Kinda like getting married.

the Dvarw DL
it's single coil but i have never once had leaks or dry hits with it come to think of it never had any problems with it

internal airflow changing and the build posts would be the down side to some
but i get captions etc in it without any real issue and the airflow once u find your sweet spot it stays there

also the manta dl/mtl and doggie style mtl had zero issues with as well

Yep.....a good rta makes all the difference...yes an rta does take a bit more precision , but it's worth it imo, especially great rtas. Rdas are for whimps

not all drippers are wimps but yeah if you want a good tank I would suggest that guy going pick any of the ones that I laid out for him
