After helping my father in law get started on vaping, I realized that some smokers do not do well with bottom coil tanks. The draw is loose and therefore some of us tend to draw really hard and that can often cause the tank to flood.

A couple things you can do:

1) replace the top wick in your protank atty's with thicker/more wick. I use silicone but some people like cotton. To each their own
2) put away the protanks for a while, and pick up a couple of top coil tanks such as the IClear 16. The draw is much tighter. I got some for my father in law who was also flooding his battery on the bottom coil tanks. He has no issues now that he uses a top coil tank.

After a while, and if you are able to give up the cigs for long enough, then you can come back to the ProTanks after your need to take hard draws dwindles down some.

Someone on here (I forget who it was) put it like this and it really made me see the light: With cigarettes, when you need more hit, you just draw harder on it to get the hit you need. With vaping, longer and slower draws will get you the hit. Not harder.

If I'm way off base here, I apologize, but I wonder if it's because of how you've been vaping. I had the same problem when I started vaping and no longer have issues now that I'm used to it.

Buy a Box of these ans see if you can Vape without Flooding / to airy issues.

Boge black e-cigarette cartomizers - Standard Resistance e-cigarette cartomizers

BogeCartomizers.jpg

Drip to full or use condom fill method
Let sit to saturate
Vape
As flavor drops off, add more liquid.
Should look spongy when topped off.

Once you are comfortable and have adjusted your draw technique you can advance more easily.

im trying as we speak to figure out what ive done wrong anywhere and i cant figure it out.. im just very unlucky. yep using the nautilus ive tried every airhole, the draw is too "airy" if that makes any sense? not enough backpressure?

The bolded part just told me what your issue likely is. I have been using my Nautilus since they first came out. A common issue that I have seen happen to others is that they do not have the top and bottom pieces tightened down. This causes the tank to lose the vaccuum (lets air into the tank) that it needs and leak. Be sure that the metal dome part at the top is snug to the glass and that the rubber seal at the bottom is not crimped. I am almost certain this is what is causing your issues.

Good luck to you and do not give up! This can and will work for you.

I feared this would happen when folks started only recommending pricey, tinker-happy, stuff. Go to the less expensive and more user-friendly stuff.

This^

I have high end stuff....lots of it. USE THE CARTO :)

Still like my cartos.

Put a Bayou tank on them for easy refill to avoid the IBTanked refill dance described by the poster a few posts up from here.

40 year smoker, 6 months smoke free here... spinner battery at minimum, I didn't get my first fancy mod until just recently. Davide tanks are very tight, I started with Davide minis with kanger single coils. Currently using Davide fulls but with aspire dual coils. Just got a Kanger Aerotank with kanger dual coils. The Aerotank was the fussiest. But you have to make sure to put everything together, and make sure all seals are secure. There is no reason why you should get a leak with any of the new tanks unless you are sloppy putting them together, or cleaning them. Just takes patience, and practice.

Formula for quitting. Take a day off work before the weekend. Tell your family your not getting off the couch for nottin.

Buy 3 aerotanks. Fill one with High brow RY4 24nic/ml. Fill the other with 18mg/ml Vaperite Organic VR4. Fill The last with Aroma Lemonade stand w/WTA. Make sure you have all your air holes fully vented

Vape the vaperite as your goto. When you get a craving alternate between highbrow and Aroma. By the second day you should be off analogs. Now make sure you don't run out of those three juices and coils. Avoid smokers, eat a lot. Easy Peasy.

I used the pro tank 3 with twist type batteries and they flooded and leaked and frustrated me and I feared that if I did buy the kayfun it to would be the same since it was a tank. and the batteries i was using where not lasting . So i finally took the plunge and bought a used Provari here on the classifieds. And then bought the kayfun here on the classifieds and bamm it worked the first time second time and every time since . I love this site ECF offers so much in every way. From saving money on the classifieds to figuring out what works best. I smoked for 20 years a pack a day and quit over night with my ecigs. Found this place and found more savings on e juice then finally read the DIY threads and bought me some DIY stuff now I couldn't be happier making my own coils, juice and saving tons ..No more smelly clothes or living room due to the smoke..just sweet smelling custard notes not and then...I hope you don't give up and try a solid platform that works for you ..My wife uses the Ecab and Eroll and loves the ease of use and the taste it puts out from the Ry4 juice I mix up..
Good Luck.

i have read all of the replies, but im still not convinced on buying anything else. now im starting to think all of my liquid is bad with no way to prove it. i have wasted almost $500, i might just sell the provari, and keep using my kanger evods.. at least thats what got me to quit, the provari made it worse..

see the one question i have here is this.

when i bought the protank 2 it came with 2 replacement coils. those coils worked perfectly, not screwing all the way down, but still perfectly, no aerotank base or anything. but when i ended up using both of those and having to order replacement coils, these coils would screw all the way down and just flood themselves after 5 minutes. shouldnt the coils be the exact same? the ones that came with the protank were awesome!

Go get some basic clearos to keep you going as you sort out your tanks :). That's what I'm doing right now as I learn about my Aerotank. I bought some cheap disposables. Easiest darn things, lol! Put in liquid and vape. Wash once in awhile and they're good to go. About the price of a pack of cigs but last a lot longer.

I wish I could answer this definitively. Coils can be hit/miss. If I'm not mistaken the same coils used for the EVOD are the same used in the Protank. If I am mistaken someone will surely chime in. Kanger (about 5 months ago) made a change in the length of the coils.

I love my cartotanks, IBTanked and Phiniac primarily. I've tried others but they just don't seem to work as well. I used clearo's when I started out and went through every known problem with them, they were the top coil brand. I've since tried the bottom coil and really like them except when they flood and gurgle (this has only happened since I've started rebuilding them), LOL. Learning to solve these problems are a must for me since I have no intention on going back to smoking. I use my cartotanks while working out the bugs with my bcc's/RBA's/RDA's so I'm never without my vape fix. I've spent alot of time researching since I started vaping. There's always something to be learned or figured out so don't give up to quickly. If you have simpler gear to use then use that instead of going back to cigarettes, that is if you're really looking to quit them. It does take some will-power, it did for me. I wish you the best and if ya do find an answer to your problem please post and let us know how it worked out. You may be a savior for someone else who ends up with the same problem. Good Luck to ya!
