Just ordered a WAEII for the gem when it's avaliable. I'm definitely putting a dna 40 in it. It looks rather easy compared to the elevator v2 that i retrofitted.
You've seen the pics and sorta how-to by the one guy who did it?

Yeah I saw it. The threaded caps makes it much easier to take apart than the press fit cap on the elevator v2. I'm already anticipating the modification to the chip mount.

Well if/when you take on that project, take lots of pictures and post them. Make sure you alert us who follow the mark bugs threads.

I agree on the wait being worth it but now it's time to play a game while twiddling our thumbs. If you haven't figured it out......I am off work today.[emoji3]

What's your best guess on timing and initial quantity, I say it will really be a month and the initial quantity will be 150. Anyone else want to subject guesses?

I wouldn't even try to make a guess, but I'm sure MB knows how many WE's he's sold. I would hope that would be the starting point and add 20% to that to account for those who just want the Atty and those who plan on buying a WE later depending if they can score a GEM. After all if the GEM performs better than an Erl, Squape and Rose, it will sell more WE's. Anyone buying a 21mm GEM will want a 21mm Mod to run it.
There hasn't been a day in two months that I haven't thought about getting the GEM to march my WAE. I don't feel comfortable with the thought of only 150 initial GEM's. Internet advertising is global. The GEM completes the package!
Whatever that secret number is, I want one on my WE or I'm going to be a very unhappy camper.

A WAE2 jumped out of the case and in to my hand, last week, when I went in to have some P3's upgraded. I adopted it. While the Erlk looks lovely as a topper, I'm guessing the GEM will be perfection. From Qorax's photos, it looks as though I may even be able to manage the build! :). So, where does one (pre)order a GEM?

With Q as you're insider in this thread, a manufacturer who isn't taking advanced orders and can't get his production act together - if you pay attention to this thread and have the money in hand on the day orders are taken you will own one ....... unless you forget to order.[emoji3]

B'coz of this thread Drip-tips are added into the package. Those are being made now, which is the reason of this current delay.

The way it looks - next weekend I should be able to release the full video ;) Alongwith the Date Notification :)

Wait... I'm a little stumped.
A drip tip wasn't included in the original package? Or more were added?
If it was the first one, I am well and truly shocked. o_O

Drip-tip wasn't in the initial thoughts of this project. And I'm not aware of many Hi-end attys coming with a drip-tip either.

Q- thanks, that is a very important addition. If half of the sales are going to be for people like myself trying to match up to their WAE you would certainly want a matching drip tip because you can't get it anywhere else.[emoji4] And when you put together a package with two decks and a drip tip it is looking very appealing.

Define "high end", as every single atty in my signature came with a drip tip. lol
Obviously you've owned a lot more attys and may find it more acceptable, but I find the thought of not including a drip tip a little stingy.
Doesn't matter if it's a cheap delrin one or a fancy metal, a drip tip is not a "disposable" item like coils/wick etc and should always be part of the basic package.
I'm sorry, but supplying attys without a drip tip is like selling shoes without the laces included!
Even more-so as this Gem isn't a standard finish, matching an aftermarket tip to its look won't be easy in the slightest.

edit: possible correction, the Calix without the "air-tip" option, did that come with a standard drip tip? I dunno. :p

You see, the only attys I have with stock drip-tips are the Erlk, K4, SqR and a Taifun-GS. Btw, I don't use any of those drip-tips ;) I use my own on them.

Given a choice I'd go for 'without drip-tip' with a lower pricing always :D
