There's no authentic, non-Chinese, rta which has airflow similar to the subtank clearos. Neither has the Mark Bug's Gem. It is a flavor rta and typically meant for mouth-to-lungers. However, in it's wide open position this AFC does let you have a nice restricted direct lung hit, which is what I prefer - and is my mode/style of vaping.
By airflow I didn't mean the function as how it works but by the amount of airflow. Is it closer to the subtank in the middle setting or closer to the wide open setting.

On the airflow front - there's just no comparison between the two, do you have anything else to compare with? Any other RTA?

Let me tell you this tho, the GEM is:
~near 1/2 the airflow of a Kayfun-4
~double to that of a Kayfun Lite
~same like a Spheroid v4, or Heron v2
~little less than the Erlkonigin
*all of them in their fully open position

Ok, thanks a lot. I have an erlprinz and it seems too restricted for me these days. Guess ill have to look elsewhere for an RTA that holds 5ml or more.

See how we all are different! Anything airier than an Erlkonigin ~ and I can't vape it ;) Too airy for me ~ or let me rephrase it, "just air - and no vape". Exactly the reason why these superior RTAs do not have those larger airways!

But to each his own. Which is why so many different types of attys are around. There's something for every kind of vaper these days. I just don't like these subtank clearos ~ but there are many who swear by them. Nonetheless pls bear in mind, if you're a subtank kind of vaper - 99% of the non-Chinese RTAs will not rock your boat.

I have an erlprinz but the build deck is so finicky that I either got dry hits or leaks. I tried so hard with it because I loved the size and capacity but after 3 months I couldn't take it any more and bought a Kanger subtank mini. I had been using it on the middle setting which is similar to the prinz but one day I switched it to wide open to see what it was like and after trying it that way for a day, switching back seemed like I was getting half the vapor and the flavor changed. I just got used to it. Guess I could switch back. Get used to that as well after a bit.

Another tank broke out of nowhere.

Let me put this in perspective. I had surgery a week ago on my spine. I've barely walked to the sink and back. The kids have all been on my nightstand and inhaled wrote which doesn't matter as it hasn't been dropped.

There's clearly a big design flaw with the glass. Either it's not thick enough or the pressing right against metal design with the faux add on "lips" is a bad idea. My triceps are paralyzed so I doubt I pushed it in there hard!

I'm really disappointed in the glass tanks. They're flat or terrible. When the first two broke I thought ok. Maybe it's me. Thenhe was going to send two replacements but instead sent one(I said to him in email I did only receive one repayment tank to which he replied yes I know we ran out). Now another has broken.

I assume the glass he's using just isn't Pyrex or something durable. Are the IBTanked tanks any better? This is a deal killer for me and I'll order IBTanked and sell the GEMs if this is going to happen every week or two based on a design flaw. It's not like the tanks are 5/$10 either

Of course I switched to metal but unless I'm using temp
Control I'm not very happy with a windowless tank.

I love he gems flavor but it can be an absolute nag to deal
With. It definitely could use a revision. And frankly if there's a redesign or a part replacement regarding how he glass attaches it should be sent or for the glass tanks to any customer who requests it. For the price it's unacceptable to be cracking through tanks every week or two from simply removing cleaning and putting back on

/rant

So are he IBTANKED Pyrex ?

Fwiw the first two tanks cracked and a portion just came apart. This one has a solid chip.

It's entirely possible they're all weakened due to shipping. Not sure. Either way. Enough is enough. Maybe I have he worst luck going. One thing is for certain. It's not user abuse that's causing it. I don't think I even have a scuff on any of the parts for either one.

Sorry for he long Ranty post I'm just super frustrated given I have almost $400 in these two and one thing after another seems to keep happening.

I chipped mine, but that's because I've knocked it over multiple times, lol...still works perfectly fine though as its on the outside...just keeps on Truckin'...sorry to hear you've had such a run of bad luck.

Definitely grab some IBTANKED and see how those are, I'm curious myself.

No broken tanks.

On my first GEM, which I bought from the classy's. The rings weren't installed and I didn't know what they were or where they went. No issues or leaks without them if you think they may be the culprit take them off.

No I think it's the glass on metal. I think the rings probably help. Same thing for me. They were off for a short while. One tank broke right after I put he rings on lol. I just have to think the manufacturing of he glass just isn't good. I don't know where he sources them obviously but I have cracked one other tank in two years. And hat one I broke pulling apart (nautilus full size). I just can't believe they keep breaking over and over and over.

I'll order them. It's a 3 piece minimum and $7 per IIRC. that will leave me with one "extra" if another one breaks or of nowhere and it's the IBTanked I'll be moving along from this atomizer despite my love of the flavor.

Just as a reminder

Replacement glass tubes from IBTanked. The size is 20x1.2x25.52 mm. I copied that from an earlier post.

25.52? Really? I'm guessing 25.5 works just fine ;)

You know I do chain vape 0 mg sometimes. I wonder if the heat is doing them in. Doesn't feel too hot but it gets warm.

This one with the chip. I need to see if it's chipped far enough to let air in if I move the chip to the top.

Careful with IBTanked, those guys ship in 3-4 weeks and don't answer emails. I don't know what's the matter. Check out shis thread: Still in business...?
I ordered 3 GEM replacement tanks on Oct 30th, shipping notice came on Nov 25th. Should get them in the following days. Can then report on the quality.

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe that's a reason to order now if it takes that long.

I will order if you confirm they're as good as at least.

Where else would we get replacements? Even if mark bugs had then what's the point when their version breaks every two weeks ?

I don't think so. Mine's are just fine. Not dropped them yet tho ~ but Glass being just that - will break if stressed out.
Mine hasnt broken either Q but I was more thinking of the uneven/unfinished ends on the tubes that are such a contrast to the immaculate finish of the rest of the device. A lot of people have moaned about that I think. Whether it makes any difference or not is a different matter.

Hello everyone!

I've been enjoying my GEM for sometime now and must say that I absolutely love it. I've run into a little problem that I was hoping someone can help with.

It started when I noticed the ohms jumping around. I took out the deck and noticed that the negative post screw backed out a little. Trying to tighten it back down, I noticed the post that the screw screws into tightened down with the screw. (<-- Sorry if I'm not explaining all that well, it's difficult.) Basically, the negative post normally sits above the deck by about a .5mm or so. Mine was sitting at about 1mm and when tightening the post screw, the post itself proceeded to screw in as well sitting to the .5mm height. I can show pics if needed.

Can I tighten the negative post down tight without the screw? When I thread the screw into the post and tighten down, backing the screw out also is backing out the post to a point.

TL:DR

My negative post seems to have play and moves when screwing my coils negative lead. The negative post itself is screwing in with the screw and damaging my coils when tightening.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Any idea what the oring size inside the chimney, about 1/2 way up? I have the following list and I am not sure it's any of these. Mine is starting to show some small tears in it, must be catching the deck upon insertion. I don't think its going to last much longer.
Tip: 6mmx1mm
Center filling deck: 6mmx1mm
Filling holes: 3mmx1mm
Afc ring: piece of an 1.5mm thick oring (I use 1.6mm as its a bit tighter!!)

Tank and deck rings

-8mm x 1mm Bottm of the deck
-13mm x 1mm Seals the deck
-15mm x 1mm Tank

I forgot there is a clone now. I ordered a five pack of clone tanks since mark bugs doesn't offer them anyway. I'll post how they fit, sorry if that bothers some of you. It is what it is. A 5 pack for $4 that's probably as good or better than the original glass

Id call that genius, not something to apologise for!! Let us know mate!
