Has anyone built a 1.5-2mm coil / microcoil and tried it in here? Proper micro coils really came around to
Maximize flavor. And not many people make what is truly considered a microcoil anymore but I wonder how it would do.

I'm now running into wicking issues again. I was trouble free for a while but lately it's been a pain again. Even doing it the same way. Must be he juice in using is extra thick for some reason.
1.5mm was the first build I did. Tasted great. Actually had problems with over wicking. I use fiber freaks D1 (essentially rayon) as wicking and with such a small coil there simply wasn't enough wicking material to fill the channels enough to prevent flooding.

Tasted amazing though. Quite gurggly though.

I'm not using a 2mm coil and quite pleased.

Ok, so I received the spare glass tanks from IBTanked. I broke one of mine and wanted to get some replacements.
There have been reports, that the originals sometimes are of poor quality and don't fit, so custom made would be a good idea.
Ordered: 20.0x1.20x25.52mm with the note "for Mark Bugs GEM" (measurements taken from a post on this thread). The original L=25.40mm.
The IBTanks came very well wrapped and in small plastic canisters with caps. They came super clean, with no fingerprints etc. L=25.60mm.
They are perfectly machined and fit accordingly.
They feel a bit tighter on the o-rings, but thats not bad.
The glass tubes are Borosilicate (many know as Pyrex) and are precision ground to close tolerance. Made in USA.

I'm going to get some flack for his post but I have to be honest here.

$300 for a DNA40 won't do. It's too expensive for w mediocre temperature chip and honestly I'm not wowed by the build quality coming from mark bugs. Honestly if the flavor wasn't so good I'd have sold both of mine by now. I haven't found better flavor in a nice size thought Nao they stay.

Remember way back when i hadn't heard of mark bugs and I became interested and I came in this bread an said it looks like there are build quality issues? It was all supposed to be a one off and rare occurance but look at the statistics in this thread. It doesn't seem like anyone got one that works as it was suppose to with no issues. Since way back then I've been in here. Participating. Own two GEM and have had to email support for two issues - which is where I get my opinion in support.

Support take forever to respond. If a fix is needed they take a long time to send it. And then they don't send what they say they will. And I get a response of "we didn't have any"

Let's look at the issues the gem seems to face relatively frequently
Free spinning o rings
Off center afc (what about these fine crafted tolerances I read about?)
Deck insulators coming apart
Ofcourse the glass that breaks from a sneeze
And center post / temp control issue s

The flavor of the gem is a osprey amazing. It brings to life my juice like no other rankin have. With that said I don't know if it's a language barrier. Arrogance. Or a full schedule that prevents mark bugs from quality testing his very limited run pieces and responding in a timely fashion to support emails. Frankly I don't as a consumer care all that much what causes it. The amount he is making / charging for these pieces he owes it to his customers to offer support that is top notch. And if you're plugging yourself as a metal wizard, as a top notch craftsman, and marketing as the best of the best - then quality check your merchandise and offer good support.

Further more lack of spare parts is ridiculous. We can't even buy glass? Even if we were willing to pay $10-20 a tank that would surely be charged.

For me I won't be giving my money to this boutique anymore until I see them / him step up and offer an experience that matches the purported quality. In a year what happens when my decks come apart. Can I even get parts? If I et a wae ii will I be able to replace a bottom cap? It will it have a run around time of less than three months if I have to send t for repair? Or will I even get an answer to an email if I have to send it in? Will inhale to contact qorax to get a group buy for bottom caps?

$99 for a DNA 30 may work fine at the expected lack of support and availability . If it's not top notch that's ok at that price. If the threads are a hat off or something. $300 with the history I've personally had wih my two gems. The lackadaisical support that barely exists?

I think I'd try GP mods for that kind of money and see if their experience matches the price tag. Mark bugs certainly hasn't yet. I hope that changes.

Sorry guys. This needed to be said.
