So where oh where did Music For Prague come from?
I think it's one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. If you hear it live it tears you apart, leaving nothing but little pieces. You have to rebuild yourself afterwards.
I was the bari sax player in the whole shebang a few times. It takes so much concentration to play a part in it you barely know what it sounds like. As an audience member it destroys me.

All tonality up to a certain point was based on whims of the rich and dictates of religion. Still is, basically. Mozart obviously was a genius but his hands were tied. just think if his paycheck hadn't depended on fops in wigs?

How did religion or politics dictate tonality or any specific musical expression? Would any pope or king have enough musical knowledge or talent to dictate anything in that field? Can the hands of genius be tied?
