I think Dspin was just trying to help with a pic of a perfect coil, off the top of my head I think Stefano made it.

Whoever's having problems maybe give Scubabatdans method a go? It's a bit different and might help, maybe.. Just alter the mesh dimensions for the Line as these are instructions for the G-tank US

Ok so here are the dimensions for the wick of a G-tank-US, I am using 400SS and cutting it into 15mm wide strips. I then cut 30mm lengths off my strip so I have a 15mm x 30 mm piece. I Then took a paper clip and straighted it, and then wrapped the mesh piece around it, so it is 1/16" x 30mm long. At this point it is ready for oxidizing.

Oxidizing:
Ok now that it is rolled tight around the paper clip, we need to make the SS mesh so it will not conduct electricity. To do this I use a butane tourch to heat up the SS mesh red hot, and the immerse it in water. Do this 4 times.

Now drip on some juice so the wick is wet and light it on fire, do this 3 times

Now use a regular lighter and just heat up the entire wick and immerse in water, it will turn black. This is the sooting up process. do this three times.

Now you can wrap your heating wire around it. I usually do 4 wrap, gives me 1.8ohms. I then soak with juice and light it on fire again, twice. Then soot it up once with a lighter.

It is ready to install, I have had 100% success doing it this way, with no shorting.

Yes indeed, that is Stefano's coil. Just make one exactly like that. Oxidation and wrapping are key.

My line came in today as well! Now I just need to get my hands on some mesh so I can use the darn thing. Thanks to Bamrz, that may just be in the works. Being stationed overseas definitely has some serious disadvantages when it comes to having things shipped to you.
First, THANK YOU for your service in the Military. Contrary to what the news says, we DO appreciate you.
You might want to try The Mesh Company (Warrington) Ltd Ultra Fine 400 Mesh for some SS Mesh - they're a UK company and I believe they would ship to an APO. I use a regular PO and had no problems.

I never used a rebuildable atty, but since many have it working, I can see you need to go over your steps to figure out what your missing.
For instance you say lots of vapour, so I presume your juice is heavy vg, what percentage?
Look over your wick it needs to wick up the juice, burnt taste, so not enough or no wicking. Now you need to know or figure out why is it not wicking or why is it not wicking fast enough.

It looks like you have hit the LEARNING CURVE, hope you can plow your way through, because I will follow along and be ready for when it is my turn..:?:
DOH! I've been on that sucky learning curve for a few weeks now on my Genisis Atty - so I'm following this even closer now. Same issues as y'all been having. I have learned that if the wicking is rolled too small - like 1/16 inch, then the entire freaking wick glows. 1/8 inch not wicking right for me, so I'm learning right along with you..

Right eyebrook, another little tip thanks, may have left mine in the flame to long on occasions then as had a couple just fracture&break off! Also the usual problem of glowing coils some top&bottom&all over, this I tried to rectify by few drips of juice&pulsing the current hoping it'd re-seal the short? Failed lol. Pain in the rear when you get that far&it shorts! Especially after a couple of hours lol

Epic Journey
@Scope: I boil the mesh first to get out any impurity, roll it, burn it red hot 6 times, in between cold water and roll on paper to dry. After that I unroll the mesh, clean it in water, still stuff coming out, so it is needed IMHO. then roll it again, apply liquid, burn with lighter, do this two or three times, then take the Kanthal, burn that first until red hot, wrap and all should be good....good luck, you will get it right bro!!

Could you clarify a little what you mean here (text in bold)? How do you burn the Kanthal before you wrap it, with a torch? Thanks, just trying to get as many pointers as possible...

guys, just found out that when i look into the tank of the line. at the bottom where the mesh will make contact, there's a sparkle when i'm testing the ohms on my provari. is that shorting? what should i do? is there a way for the two silver post at the top be shorted?

See that is why I torch the whole thing :)
What is happening is power from the positive post is shorting through the wick to the main body on the bottom. Heat treat the whole wick, or pull it up some.
