Can you show your process clavit? I'm interested
I've been using 32awg Kanthal A on the Line with mixed results, but hey, i'm still learning
I just made a new coil from 34 awg Kanthal D. I twisted two strands of 34 awg, and made 4 wraps on the Line. That measured 2.4 ohms, perfect for the Lavatube and presumably for the Provari as well. So far it works fine and produces vapour even at 3 volts, not much taste though! I get great taste and vapour at 3.7volts. I haven't taken it above 4.2 volts yet, but so far it looks promising................................
I have used the twin 34awg on my Iatty with good results, and so far it works fine on the Line as well![]()
I guess my question is, how do I remove the threaded part? is it just an o-ring keeping it in place?
Thanks,
Dan

Interesting, so in reality your using a 64guage Kanthal by doubling the 32guage Kanthal;,,, have you tried twisting 3-4 pieces together of a thin Kanthal and trying it ? just curious ?
Sorry, but i don't do video
It's quite simple though. You just twist the two strands really tight so they work as one thread, then wrap as usual. I saw this mentioned in an Iatty-thread here on ECF, but now i can't find it!
Not quite. The two strands of 34awg will have a cross-section (and resistance) equal to 31awg. In retrospect, that should have given me a lower resistance than the measured 2.4 ohms......
Okay, i have just measured it again, after vaping about half a tank: 1.6 ohms
Darn, so it's just another LR coil. I guess i'm back to the usual problems of not wrapping it tight enough around the silver posts!

No o-ring , You will have to send it back to me. I give it to Van and he will fix it.
So if having more wraps makes for an easier setup (?), that may be advantageous for those of many thumbs? Granted you use a 2.5 to 3 amp limited PV.Posted by PoppD::
Interesting note about doubling and twisting the wire, it cuts the resistance in half. So if you use a single stand length that tests out at 3 ohm and double it with a second strand the same length the ohms will drop to 1.5 ohms, which is opposite of what I had expected.
I used this method myself on the Iatty.
I read on 'Just stainless steel wick & coil' thread that Kanthal A-1 is the best Kanthal wire to use. I have the A-1 and am pleased with it. I still want to try out some NiChrome next order though and compare them......I'm buying these next if I don't like what I have coming in the mail.
Kanthal D - 0,15 & 0,18 & 0,20 mm, x10 m, Reihe von Drähten | eBay
Ok then give me a clueI have a 4 ton press and can pull the bottom connector and turn a 8.5mm press pin and sleeve to press the threading out if it is pressed in. Would rather DIY than wait for shipping when I could do it in a couple hours.
Is it threaded in, or pressed in?

RE: Coil-cleaning - I just straighten out the wire, wipe it tightly between my fingers using a plain paper towel. Cleans it right up. I can see the blackened gunk slide right off.Been running the line with a 2/3 wraps of 0.2mm kanthal on the eg0-t / don.
Notice the coil gunks up fairly quickly. How do you clean the coil to extend lifespan ?
Also, are we suppose to file/sandpaper the silver terminals to get more grip ?
Appreciate the help. thanks.
wondering that too... but i would replace the coil as the Kanthal is so cheap (ebay; 32).Been running the line with a 2/3 wraps of 0.2mm kanthal on the eg0-t / don.

My question is, it seems the gunk gets carbonized around the bottom of one of my silver posts at the base. Is the silver very delicate? I mean can we scrape at it?, or is there a better way to clean the silver at the base? say with alcohol?
Most kool. Keep us posted on how they vape!!I want to report the Lines arrived and joined my GG's
The GGSlim is not mine, it is lent to me by a friend
They were a bit wet, i think Van checked them with water for leaks. I will make the first coil in the evening as i'm at work right now.
