I do it the opposite way round, always the contrary b*stard
I recoil mine about every week, just as I notice a drop off in performance due to gunking as I find it takes less time than a dry burn and also for some reason a dry burnt coil never seems to me to get back to the performance of a new one.
Anyway, I rarely get this problem but if I do I'll pull the terminals outward which tightens the coil against the wick and usually solves the issue instantly. Not sure if it actually makes any difference but I also wrap the terminals in the opposite direction to the wick, taking the wire behind the terminal and wrap it back on itself in the opposite direction to the coil if that makes any sense at all to you?
Nothing major but I find it seems like there's less chance of hotspots at the terminals that way..
