I wondered how a mesh wick was suppose to draw e-liquid up to the coil, and then I saw the following vid (from the Siam Cobra group-buy thread many months ago). If you watch closely, after the video guy drops a rolled up mesh wick into the glass, you can see the e-liquid working it's way up the wick (by about 33 seconds it's pretty clear), and make a dent in the liquid level in the glass.
According to the thread, the mesh wick was just dropped into the glass, i.e. there's no airflow or suction or anything like that helping the e-liquid along:

Yep. I built a wick and coil last night using 30g. Wife and I were watching TV. She got up to go to the bathroom and I decided I wanted 28g instead. Pulled the wick and coil off, burned the wick and set it aside. Cut a piece of 28 and tied it to the negative post. Threw the wick back in and wrapped the coil. This took about 10 seconds. Started pulsing it and in that 10 seconds there was already juice in the wick.
