That, apparently, the Fry Rhino USB adapters are NOT the same as the original 2amp USB adapters:

I had suggested to a person looking for a power option for his PS Protege Passthrough to use the FRY-Rhino as a replacement for the sold out 2amp USB adapters(since they do look the same). Apparently, he claims they do not work and he purchased 3 of them and they all blew. It's possible there is a problem with his particular Protege PT, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that these FRY RHINO adapters may not be the same as the original sold out 2 Amp USB adapters.

it's the same adapter, i have both...no problems whatsoever. check your model # and check the website. that poster purchased from steve @ tas anyway. I doubt very seriously that there was anything wrong with that adapter, let alone three of them!

There must have been something wrong with his Protege then, because, as you said, those 2Amp USB adapters definitely work and work well.
