Folks
I haven't read through all 24 pages of this thread but just to keep you all "in the loop"
* New user accounts for the ECF Wiki can only bet set up on request - PM a SysOp or Wiki Admin - we had to lock this out for spam control
* GG serial number details may be changed by anyone with an existing wiki user account. If you don't have one - and only want to add/change GG ownership data - then it might be faster to PM Ariel, Urbanite (or others with GG-specific knowledge) to make the change for you.

The Wiki is a superb source of GG information and I hope we can extend that same level of detail and knowledge to all other areas of the vaping world. Oh - I'd love a GG one day but I think it would mean raiding the kid's piggy bank at the moment :(

Hi Eddie,

I just started to edit / add content to the Original GG Wiki, I had some minor problems due the Mediawiki version I think: building image thumbnails problem (Error creating thumbnail: libgomp: Thread creation failed: Cannot allocate memory), it does not accepts png images, does not have rich text editor... but noting to worry about.

I split (and updated) the GGTS serial numbers list (now there is a section for the GGTS and another for the SS GGTS and GG Stealth), edited the suppliers list, added GG Stealth section, etc. etc.

I will continue adding and updating some content if it is ok to everybody, any feedback would be appreciated :)

Hi Ariel
I think Roly is aware the issues with the Wiki being caused by the use of an older version of MediaWiki - like not being able to create thumbnails etc (I got around that by manually uploading pictures as thumbnails and making them clickable to larger versions of the same picture) and the non-acceptance of .png images.

I think it's on his 'to do' list but, until then, keep up the good work - it's all looking great!

sounds more like a backend problem (he would need to look into the ImageMagick and GD libraries being present on the server and the interworking with them. I have the same problem with my latest version of Mediawiki on a shared virtual hosting where I don't have much access to the backend stuff.

Yes, it could be due missing ImageMagick or the MediaWiki shell memory configuration, maybe it could be solved in two ways:

Increasing the available shell memory configuration on the MediaWiki LocalSettings.php:
$wgMaxShellMemory = <amount desired in bytes>;

or/and

Disabling ImageMagick use for image conversions so MediaWiki will use GD Library:

$wgUseImageMagick = false; (also in MediaWiki LocalSettings.php)

Anyway no problem at all, I can use Eddie.Willers method.

One thing that would be great is to have the FCKeditor extension enabled (Rich Text Editor), to make the edit easier, so more users could contribute to the contents.

For the record:

Today I added all the Zoranth's Odysseus Illustrations available up today and made some minor changes to the Odysseus section on both GG Wikis.

Still need to recheck the parts lists for every exploded Illustration.

Still needed to add some real pictures of the different Odysseus modes and parts included with the extension kit, maybe COV, GG Pictures wanted and Odysseus official threads could be good sources for this :?:

Unfortunately, I do not have the funds to upgrade that to the Pro (200mb\day) or Premium (4g\day) version and maintain it there so we have to put up with that error.

Also, there are not very many sites available that handle PDF documents as easily as keepandshare and keep them in their native format/quality. Sure I could probably use Google Docs but they downsample the quality of PDFs when you view them online. Sometimes to the extent that details are lost rendering the illustration pretty much useless.

For example, here is a link to the GGTB Assembly With Both Caps on Google Docs. Open it online and view it, then download and view it and see the difference.

Google Docs Version - GGTB Assembly With Both Caps

KeepandShare Version - GGTB Assembly With Both Caps

To be quite frank, I refuse to let the quality of the illustrations be degraded (Google Docs). To me that would be the same as having the Chinese mass produce GG's.

What I have been doing to minimize the quality lose when posting the illustrations on the Wiki, is import the .PDF file in Gimp, I cut the image without the "parts list text" then adjust to an appropiate resolution for the wiki (scaling 50% of the original size), I could use thumbnails and full resolution when the user clicks on the image in the bakcup wiki, but the original wiki have some problems when creating thumbnails of big images.

I have to create a parts list table for every illustration.

I uploaded Zoranth's pdf's to the backup wiki and replaced the links to the illustrations, Ariel.
Afterwards I recognized that the main wiki doesn't support pdf uploads :(

Maybe Zoranth can give us files in jpg format instead of the pdf files (or additional). This would make it easier for us to upload the ilustrations to both wikis or do you have another idea?

Due to the crappy export of JPG's from the program I use, they end up looking pretty bad as well. Almost as bad as the PDF's look using Google Docs
