I realize all the regulars on this forum are very tight with one another and are all HUGE fans of the GG with undying loyalty so I apologize if I step on anyone's toes here.
Appartanly I received an email last week concerning a recall of my GG Nano (which I only just purchased) however I rarely check that email account & I do not live on the forums so I read it only just yesterday, July 18th:
Dear GG Owner,
It has been drawn to our attention recently that the version of GG you purchased from us holds a potential fire risk (which has been mentioned on the GG forum), that you may or may not be aware of. The problem is that if both the body and button of the GG spontaneously come into contact with a conductive metal object, the GG will power on the atomiser.
We are treating this as a serious recall issue due to the possible problems which could potentially arise.
Therefore, in order to remedy the situation, we request that you send your GG back to the manufacturer in order to fix this problem.
For 12 Euros cost, your GG will also be fitted with a newly designed locking button system which will also prevent any issues of the GG setting off in your pocket by the button accidentally being depressed. We request this money so to only cover the cost of fitting the new button (parts & labour), and of course theoriginal recall issue will also be dealt with in the process.
Please therefore forward 12 Euros via paypal to raptis@netone.gr quoting 'GG update' and await instructions by email from the manufacturer of where to post your GG.

All GG's must be received by the manufacturer no later than the 27th July in order that the improvements be made imminently. Please use a registered postal service to ensure safe receipt of your GG by the manufacturer. Your GG will be your responsibility until it has safely been received by the manufacturer.
I'm really sorry for this inconvenience, but would like to stress that this update is absolutely imperative to ensure your safety.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation in this matter, and if you have any further questions or queries, please direct your concerns to the manufacturer (email: raptis@netone.gr) who will be able to answer any technical questions and keep you updated regarding the process of your updated GG.

The first point that I would like to make is that when an item is under warranty, it is not the consumer's responsiblility to pay for safety issues, let alone forward (!) money in advance for said saftey issues.

A warranty is defined as: a guarantee on purchased goods that they are of the quality represented and will be replaced or repaired if found defective.

I for one thought the button was a bit too sensitive but have been holding off on reviewing the GG until I could come up with a good way to keep the silly button from depressing immediatly. The statements in the email also lead me to believe that somewhere, someone had a fire issue with this device, otherwise it wouldn't be labeled so urgent in the subject line.

"Potential fire risk" certainly falls under the category of defective.

I have long been torn between whether I hate the Nano or love it. I feared I might become ostricized from the forums if I spoke badly of it for any reason. After this whole recall thing, expecting me to send money in advance for a saftey hazard to be repaired, waiting over a month to get it back, etc... I am very much considering selling my slightly used Nano and getting something else.

I am sorry to all you die-hard fans but this is all too outrageous in opinion.

Hi Gem, perhaps the e-mail isn't very clear. It's my understanding that the safety issue will be fixed for free. The 12eu. cost is if you also want the locking button option added at this time.

yes thats it vince. And why you hate nano my girl? I didnt understand. You dont gave me a reason:D

I'm not sure at this point if I even want the new button or to even bother with the hassle of it....And it's not that I hate it exactly. I'm just not sure about this thing. It's bulky, heavy, and often feels as though I am sucking thru a straw with nothing at the bottom of the glass. I like its simple design but I'm just not sure it's my cup of tea.

I always take the atomizer off the casing before I slide it into a side pocket in my purse---what's the fire risk in that? All I can see is that if the button were to become depressed it would merely drain the battery. Though I could be wrong

Perhaps it's just not for me
How much do I want for it? I don't know yet. I suppose it might depend on what i decide to invest in next. I don't know how I would even go about selling the Nano.

Once again, I didn't mean to offend anyone but it was my understanding that I would be paying for a saftey issue and that sort of thing really eats my lunch.

Whatagem, if you want a diferent cig you must keep it because:

Its the slimmest in the market
Its the lightest in the market

If you pull of the atty there is no problem at all.

Some people dont like this type of cig. Just sell it, its the best for you. Many people here will buy it, dont worry.:):)

Your absolutely right Whatagem and you don't need to apologize to anyone about being a little ...... about being charged for a possibly fatal flaw in the GG design... There was a thread already on this forum about your exact question but it got so ugly with the manufacturer going into a rant- personally insulting one of his customers (who had a similar concern). The entire thread was later deleted... I don't think he realizes just how many customers he lost over not handling this in a professional manner. I know for myself being an original GG owner that I will not be making any further purchases from this manufacturer.

Dear cjalvino. I already explain you about what you can do about this issue but you dont want to do it. I told you that its an oportunity to take with 5 euros (and 7 for my shipping) the security button. If you dont want to do it then send it to me only for the "metal issue" and I will do it for free. But I see that you want only to complain.

To see how good man I am, I give you the chance for a refund. If I am not good now then what else can I do for you?

You think that I will loose many customers because I was right beating Kendra? I dont think so. I think that I earn customers but the good ones, the customers that they know what they want and how to ask for it.

And I will ask you something and please answer me honestly. If you had this behavior from a customer of yours, would you be angry? Yes or no? I am not asking what you would have done, but I am asking if you would get angry.
So if you got angry like me, then we agree that her behavior was bad. If you wouldnt get ungry then maybe you are Jesus.

Proffesional is the man that is customers slave? No. Do you know what we say in Greece? "Customer has the right only when he has one". And Kendra wasnt right because Tim's e-mail was very clear. But you dont read carefully.

And if we suppose that Kendra was right, does she use a human method to say her opinion or she started a fight, saying that if I delete the thread she will go to the other forums to beat me? Would you spoke like this? Are you a man like this? If you are, you must change cjalvino, if you are not then you must be to my side.

If you dont want to make another purchase from me it will be bad for you because you will not have the best cig out there and because you will loose a friend. I am very friedly man and maybe you havent understand it.

Conclution: 1) you send me the GG for refund or
2) you send it to me for the button issue only (free of charge) or
3) you send me the GG with 12 euros for the security button.

Can I do something else about you?

I will tell you something more. I understand the trouble customers from miles. But I am trying to help, so this brings me in dificult situation many times. But you know something? I will not change and I will continue helping people.

The behavior is important for all people. Do you want me to speak to you like Kendra to me? Do you like it? Bring yourself to my position and tell me if you like it. If you like it you are crazy. But if you dont like it then say it and dont feel bad because I wanted to give you the unique feature that no other cig have with 5 euros. I am cheap, maybe next time I will charge 100 euros to raise my reputation.

You say that I didnt handle the situation like professional. You know why? because I am not professional, I am hobbyist and hobbyists always do better job than professionals!!!

ps....... stormy is right. What do you mean fatal flaw! fatal flaw? Be cool my friend:lol:

Hey Imeo,
I asked in another thread but somehow was overlooked...Can you just mail me the new button for my Nano? I will thread it in myself...Thanks
Drew

No, the new button is a whole change to GG. I must make threads to its button hole, threads to the front cap with spesific dimentions, a special plastic inside witch must be done with the front cap together and has a little diferent dimentions, so I need it back

A professional answer cjalvino:

Dear customer, my company and me personally would like to tell you that we are very happy that you are a GG owner. But unfortunately we cant update your GG without a purchase of 12 euros from you. If you want a refund, please check our site for instructions.

Kind regards

GG team

Do you like better this cold answer and after 2 days from a stupid officer that cant say anything else but copy - paste a letter that his boss wrote because he wanted to get rid all customers? I am sitting here writing all this post only to help you understand what I was thinking when I asked for only 12 euros and you said that I am not a professional? Is that all you think for me?

I'll tell you what I mean by fatal flaw. First it's definition:Main Entry: fatal flaw Part of Speech: noun Definition: major character weakness Synonyms: Achilles' heel, failing flaw, hamartia, tragic flaw, weak point.

The weak point is that the atomizer can become ignited without the operator being aware of it happening. I'll tell you my own experience: I had the GG laying on a table, next to other ecigs. I smelt something burning. I looked around and the GG was smoking. The atomizer had became red hot. This happened because another metal ecig had come in contact with the GG button and the GG body (completing the circuit). This is a safety issue and you should fix this for free. You may have the saying in Greece "Customer has the right only when he has one" we have one in America "The customer is always right" this is why I will not purchase anything else from you.
